  1. Hello Ladies!! I've posted here a few times but it was quite a while ago...it's great to see this thread still going! My name is Jay (35, Paramedic) and my partner is T (32, Respiratory Therapist) and we've become totally addicted to cruising! We cruised out of Galveston in 10/05...I remember having a hard time finding a place to stay the night before down there...so we ended up staying at the Marriott at Houston Hobby and renting a car from Enterprise to drive to Galveston. What was great about that was that we got to explore a little of Houston...and then we were able to drop the car off at the port where Enterprise picked it up...we didn't have to return it to the airport. It worked out pretty well. We will be on our honeymoon 8/25/07 on Adventure of the Seas....will anyone from here be on that cruise? Have a great day!!

  2. Okay Ladies....

I blame each and every one of you...:) ...all of this talk about cruising and planning for our August cruise, T and I have decided that work is overrated and on a whim booked Splendour of the Seas out of Galveston on 3/22 for four nights. We're so excited because the first cruise we took together was out of Galveston...having been rerouted after Hurricane Katrina, we missed two out of our four ports because of the damage...Cozumel was one of them and so we figured it's as good a time as any to go see that port and remind us why we work so hard in the first place...so away we go!!!

Can anyone suggest any particular sights to see or things to do while in Cozumel? Neither one of us has been and are anxious to hear what you think...

    Have a great day!!

    Jay and T

  3. Sorry about that...I hit "enter" instead of "shift." I hate when that happens...LOL. Maria and Maritza...you're not far from us at all. In fact, I used to live in New Brunswick....but I've been residing in Long Branch for the past two years. T moved in with me last March when we began planning our wedding...having never lived anywhere but New York prior to that...excluding the six years in the Philipines as a child. We've been fortunate enough to have our close friends...another lesbian couple...as travel partners. We have done the last two cruises together, they live about 2 miles from us....so it works out very well!! They're ahead of us on the cruise count though...I belive they've also done Alaska on Celebrity...and I think next year they're planning Panama Canal...we were hoping to join them on that, but we're going to be on AOS instead. We adore Red Bank as well...how often do you get there? If you're willing to take the train, the commute shouldn't be that bad...I know it's only about an hour from Long Branch...you could do it!!!

We are staying three days in SJ after the cruise at the Marriott Resort and Casino....we'll be bidding farewell to our friends and family at disembarkation and having three days to ourselves before getting back to Jersey and the rat race!! We'll definitely check out the Parrot Club...does anyone know any gay friendly places in San Juan?

    Take care!!

    Jay and T

  4. Ahhh...a South American cruise sounds fantastic!! However, the Baltics sound pretty interesting as well. I think T and I just want to get out there and see as much of the world as we possibly can while we're still able...unfortunately, holding down jobs is essential to making that happen...which makes it difficult to be flexible to travel as often as we like...viscious circle!!!

  5. Hey Spikeya4!!

We were on the 9/17-9/22 Bermuda cruise. It looks like we missed ya by two cruises!! We traveled with our two friends...another lesbian couple on both cruises...even attended a few FOD meetings and haven't met anyone...there really wasn't a big showing. Actually, we did meet two women on our Norwegian Sun trip traveling together...they were straight vacation buddies...we hung out with them alot and really enjoyed their company....we got an email from one of them about 9 months later and she had met, fallen in love and moved in with a women! We thought it was great!! But other than that, we haven't had the pleasure of meeting anyone else. My partner is pretty outgoing...I'm generally the shy one but we just haven't been in the right place at the right time, I guess. Who knows? Perhaps on AOS it'll be different. Either way, I'm counting the days until we leave!!

  6. Hi Luv2Travel,

We're from Monmouth County...by the shore. My partner is also from New York...swore she'd never be a Jersey Girl...but here she is!! She used to tell people that she was born in Brooklyn, raised in Queens and suffering on Long Island. LOL She still swears she's not a Jersey Girl...but she has gotten some pride in her residence since they passed the Civil Union Bill...and of course the fact that New York voted it down was a big disappointment for her. I'm from Virginia but have been a Jersey resident for the past 11 years. We are excited about AOS...having sailed EOS in September out of Bayonne. Our family and friends will be joining us on the honeymoon and none of them have been on this ship either. We had heard some negative reviews about leaving out of San Juan and though we're firm believers in judging for ourselves, we were curious what others thought of the cruise. I'm glad to hear it was a positive experience for you. Where in Jersey are you two from? We're hoping to sail on the Dawn at some point as well...it's an easy trip up the highway for us....and next year we're planning a European cruise possibly leaving out of Spain. Thanks for the congrats....we're so excited about this....and it's icing on the cake to be cruising right after!!

  7. Hey there Mithryl,

Thanks for your response...I guess you're right...I think it's a pros and cons game when it comes to vacationing...value versus comfort etc. It's a tough call, I think. For our honeymoon we had tossed around the idea of an Olivia cruise...or something Olivia...but then we got this hairbrained idea to invite our families along with us. We've been together a little while...and thought since we're so fortunate to have a wonderful family that loves and supports us, we figured we'd keep the party going and bring them with us. My mom thinks we're absolutely nuts for doing this...but she was the first one to buy her ticket!!! We'd also love to check out RFamilyVacation cruises...that way everyone is included. I hope one day to not even have to discuss this...and that it will just be what it is...and no one will turn their head. I keep hoping. Hey...congratulations on your years together...that's fantastic!! Two of our sponsors in our wedding (it's a Filipino ceremony) have been together for nine years...and they are truly an inspiration. They also happen to be our cruising buddies...but we wish you many more wonderful and happy years together. We look forward to getting there ourselves!

  8. My partner and I are also interested in Olivia cruises as well...but find them so expensive. We got engaged on the Norwegian Sun 10/05...had a quick getaway on the Explorer of the Seas 9/06...and will be on Adventure of the Seas for our honeymoon this August....(Yay Jersey!!). Our next adventure appears to be a European cruise in 2008...or Hawaii...that one we haven't decided yet. We only know we'll be on a ship going somewhere!! Question: has anyone sailed on AOS and what did they think...and secondly, other than the comfort and freedom to express yourself completely...how does Olivia rank next to, say, Royal Caribbean? Just curious to hear your answers. Thanks!! :)
