  1. I found a company on Trip Advisor that runs the speedboat between the Old Port and Oia (Ammoudi Bay) and emailed them. They are still operating the speedboat and it will be running on May 22 when we arrive. You can contact them and let them know that you are interested. They didn't request a specific time from me so you may be able to reserve once you arrive too.

Here are the details from the email:

This kind of tour is available. It begins from the old port of Fira with a speedboat and you gonna reach Ammoudi bay in only 10 minutes. In this bay there will be a private bus which going to take you to the top of the village of Oia.

In Oia you will have free time to enjoy the famous village and then every one hour there is a private bus from the same spot that we left you and with the same ticket it goes to Fira town.

In Fira the free time depends from the departure time of the last tender to return back on your cruise ship.

In order to see availability please tell how exactly how many adults and how many children you are. Children below 6 years old don’t pay at all but please mention them. Official price is 15€ per person.

Thank you for this valuable information @mack44 [emoji1362] My family and I are visiting Santorini in July and this is a very economical option, especially for a family of six!

  2. Thank you Beamafar, it's certainly a relief to know VAT isn't added to on board pricing! Lets hope we're as lucky as you when in Valletta and Palma ports :D

    Silly me, I mean't Valencia :o

  3. There is no VAT added to purchases onboard. VAT rates differ in EU countries - there isn't one flat rate. Prices onboard are the same whether you visit only EU countries or not. The exception seems to be when in Spanish waters, from reports I've read here on the forum. Personally, I've never experienced being charged a sales tax onboard when in Barcelona port.

  4. Excellent! This will save you a bundle if you plan on a lot of excursions! :)

    Hi Love2Cruz2015,

I'm new to CC and to European cruising and I will be doing a B2B on the Divina (West Med / Italy, Spain, France) and Sinfonia (East Med / Italy, Croatia, Greece) - all EU Ports. So I was hoping you might be able to help in answering my enquiry about the VAT since your MSC cruise has now come and gone.

Did you eventually pay the VAT on your pre-purchased packages? on on board purchases? on the cruise fare? This last one has me worried as it would be a hefty blow out to our holiday budget

I really hope you or anyone else here can help
