  1. Can I please have your thoughts on the above?  Considering this cruise for next year from Southampton. Our son will be or nearly be 16 when we go.   I’m concerned he’d be bored and there won’t be many kids his age onboard v a summer cruise around Greece or the med etc. has anyone got any experience?  Thank you.

Why do people still believe the dates that the Cruise Line’s post when sailing will begin again when those same cruise lines have already moved that date three times? The dates are just place holders so they can manage the cancellations and possibly keep getting deposits on new bookings or getting final payments on upcoming cruises already booked.

All cruises will not just immediately start sailing again on or near a certain date. From several reports I have read, the cruise lines are planning on sailing one or two ships on short 3 to 4 day itineraries at reduced capacities initially to ensure the procedures they have in place are working. Those will probably be from Port Canaveral to the private islands. They will then gradually add more ships, itineraries and increase capacities as long as there aren’t any major outbreaks or quarantines due to Covid-19. I would not be surprised to see it take 5-6 months or even longer after those initial sailings before they get back to sailing most of their ships at or near full capacity.

We are not experienced cruisers however, this is exactly what we thought would happen.

we are in the UK and due to sail out of Venice in October but I don’t think it will happen. Mainly because I am not convinced the ship will be in Europe and ports will be open.

On right now and things are great. We are also dong B2B so will be on next week too.

I checked to see how many cabins are available for next week and there were still 255 cabins.

Passengers and crew all seem normal, friendly and happy.

Next week may be even better with less passengers onboard.

How do you find out cabin availability please?  Thanks.

  4. We sailed Jewel last year and had a fantastic time. Good ship, port intensive. Great all round plus our 11 year old was looked after exceptionally well.   This was July 2019. The minor downside is that it was baking hot in Europe!

I am looking at Rhapsody leaving Venice but October this time.

Are the ships comparable?  Our son will be 12 this time. The cruise is slightly out of peak season but it is school holidays in the UK.

Has anyone got recent experience of ROTS?

    many thanks.

  5. Morning.

We sailed on Jewel of the Seas in the summer and had a fantastic time.   We are from Scotland and our cruise was Europe. Blisteringly hot but amazing ports and ship.

Our holidays for 2020 are in October and we’ve decided on a trip to New York. There is a cruise. 9 nights to Canada and New England on Adventure of the Seas that we like the look of and the dates tie in with time off work and school.

Our son son will be 12. I wonder if those in the know can tell me if you’d do this cruise at this time of year with a similar aged child?  He loved kids club on Jewel in the summer. Plenty to do and other kids to meet with. July is peak holiday time for Brits so the ship was busy with varying kids ages. I am just not sure if there would be many kids on an October Canada cruise.   Port days there seems to be plenty to do.

    Thanks.

  6. I’ve seen a cruise departing Dover on 2nd October for New York. There are a few ports but mainly sea days.

Has anyone done transatlantic with Disney before?  My main concern would be enough to do during the day, particularly as it won’t be warm, sunny weather. We would have a 12 year old boy with us. Thanks for any help you can give.

  7. I’d love to see autumn which is what you call Fall. It would be so pretty. I wonder if there would be many kids on an October cruise.

We we are just off a med cruise. It was so hot it took away the appeal of sightseeing new cities and stopping for lunch and having a glass of wine. My son likes to wander towns so if we can combine that with kids club for him, I’m sure he would be happy.

  8. We have the deluxe drinks package booked. If we want fresh orange and a speciality coffee while having breakfast in Windjammer or the Main dining room, do we organise it ourselves or bring it with us or is it available in both places?

is the main dining room open for lunch?

    thank you.
