  1. Like Colorado....wait 10 minutes and it will change. ;)

Getting into rainy season in a couple of weeks.

Damn! Just answer the question people. It's been quite rainy this week. Last week was beautiful. It's on and off there this time of year, plan on rain and if you get sun, thank the power that be. I live here In Seattle and it's been beautiful and suppose to be beautiful for the next 7 days. I'm going on the Ruby Saturday up to Alaska so I've been watching the cruise cameras. If you go to kroozcams.com you can pick your ship and look at real time weather.

  2. Hello jenyfur,

I am sorry but you and your spouse will be required to eat with a group of aging couples who will ask you embarrassing qestions and make you feel

    very uncomfortable.

Just kidding. Try to book a two top. If you want a two top with anytime dining, the dining room service personnel will see to it. This might cause a brief delay in you being seated, but usually not too bad. As others have mentioned, the good food service folks will help setting you up with a traditional dining two top if you prefer.

    Enjoy your cruise and Honeymoon.

Guess what? We are aging ourselves. [emoji12]. 54 years old. We have teenagers, nothing shocks us! But thanks for the info.

  3. Hi, I've always cruised with 4 or more of us and had a table with just our group. We'll be on our honeymoon this time around, just the two of us. Not to sound anti social but we'd like to just have a table for two at dinner. We're signed up for anytime dining. Is there something more I should do to ensure this? Thanks in advance

  4. Hi

I am the original OP and have read the comments with interest particularly the one above.

We had a different waiter to the poster above but we were in the same dining room and were on the Crown from the 29/07 for 14 nights when we were refused an extra entrée to share between four adults.

Given that the only other poster to report a similar problem was also sailing on the Crown earlier this year I do wonder whether this is more than a coincidence.

The experience was certainly not a pleasant one but I knew that we were going to be served by this waiter for the next 14 days . I therefore swallowed my embarrassment rather than ruin this relationship before it had started plus my family hate a scene.

At the risk of being judged again we did also have a similar experience at the Elite Captains Cocktail Party. At a table of ten my friend was in the middle of ordering a drink when a supervisor came over to to waiter taking his order. The supervisor loudly told the waiter not to take the order until all the drinks on the table had been finished. The waiter walked away leaving my friend stunned and all of us embarrassed for him.

(PS to everyone who took this opportunity to judge you are of course correct I am a hugely obese glutton who lives in a hole and has to be rolled around on castors. I love to hear how superior you are surviving as you do on water and fresh air. Thank you again.)

    Hahahahaha well said

  5. Here is my take on Crown Grill. Was on Emerald Jul 9th trip; but unlike the OP my family and I loved the food/ the wait staff/ and the ambiance. My two grandkids and my wife all had the surf and turf; two lobster tails plus filet mignon. Everything was cooked to perfection; food came quickly; waitstaff was excellent and we did not mind paying an extra $10 for lobster. It was worth the money just to see the kids loving their dinner. Rolls/butter excellent; Hot rolls and they brought seconds. Dessert Choices were great. We all had dessert. Grandson had the sample platter of desserts. Awesome. We also ate in Crown grill for breakfast every morning. Wait staff was over the top with service; food was cooked to order and the coffee was fresh; and so were the pastries. We had quite a variety of pastry choices each day. So we were happy campers or should I say cruisers.

Is it extra to eat breakfast in the crown grill?

  6. Same could be said for the passengers. Dress styles are getting more casual to the point of sloppiness - people would wear bathing suits and tank tops in the MDR if they could get away with it. Behavior is becoming less civilized - people are ruder and less patient than ever, with their "It's my vacation" attitude on full power mode. And people expect more for less money - they demand bargain basement fares, but then demand all the bells and whistles while complaining about deteriorating service levels.

Yep, there are certainly a lot of cutbacks noticeable these days, but mostly it's with the passengers!

    I completely agree.

  7. We are new to Oceana, our Trans Atlantic cruise on Azamara was drastically changed and our travel agent rebooked us on the Rivera for next November. I am interested in any info that would be helpful to a new customer with Oceana.

If anyone can give me an example of the cost of drinks on the ship, like wine by the glass and the starting cost for a bottle of wine, a standard martini in one of the bars or a drink price list would be helpful.

We have selected the premium economy upgrade fir $149.00 for our flight to Barcelona from Miami to board the ship, if anyone has had a recent experience using this option I would be interested in you thoughts.

We are looking forward to you tips and advice.

As I recall, liquor was included... unless you want a premium wine with dinner. We've been 3 times and loved the smaller ships. There was never the cattle call you get on the other big ships. Don't go expecting this to be a carnival spring break type atmosphere, but then that's why we loved it. Regent does a nice job too.
