  1. Our cruise is about 58 days out. Tonight I tried to make main room dining dinner reservations for our party of 4 (2 couples/2 booking numbers).

If I try to make dinner reservations just for my husband and me we can get anytime from 5pm onward. If I add the other couple and make us a group of 4, the dinner reservation availability changes to 7:30pm or later. We don't really want to eat that late.

I have a few thoughts but would like to hear if anyone else has any advice.

    1) I'm thinking each couple should make separate dinner reservations (5pm) and just go together and ask to sit near each other. The tables for 2 are so close together that it's like you're eating together anyway.

    OR

    2) Leave the reservations as is for now and just go to the dining room at the time we want to eat and take our chances.

    Any advice is appreciated.

  2. I'm considering Totem Bight for our upcoming cruise. Can anyone comment on taking the bus? Someone above mentioned a shuttle but I'm guessing they mean the silver line bus? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm also wondering about how easy it is to get on the bus? Are their long lines? We're considering the 7:26am bus (if we can get off the ship in time).

Any info/tips on taking the bus to/from Totem Bight is greatly appreciated!

  3. The ArriveCan app/website is clear that fully vaccinated travelers don't need to test. Has anyone found this not to be true? I just wish the Princess website reflected this same information which is why there's so much confusion!

    Pre-entry testing is not required

Pre-entry tests are not required for fully vaccinated travellers entering Canada by land, air or water. You must still use ArriveCAN within 72 hours before your arrival to Canada.

To qualify as a fully vaccinated traveller to Canada, you must:

    • have received at least 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine accepted for travel, a mix of 2 accepted vaccines
      • or at least 1 dose of the Janssen  (Johnson & Johnson, Ad26.COV2.S (JNJ-78436735)) vaccine
    • have received your second dose at least 14 calendar days before you enter Canada
      • Example: if your second dose was anytime on Thursday, July 1, then Thursday, July 15 would be the first day that you meet the 14 day condition
      • this timing is only required for your second dose, not for third or fourth doses
    • have no signs or symptoms of COVID-19
    • have ArriveCAN receipt with letter A, I, or V beside your name by uploading proof of vaccination in ArriveCAN
  4. So with the $89 photo package....do you get 5 physical prints and the rest on a thumb drive? On our last 2 cruises we paid $99 and went home with so many physical pictures plus all on a thumb drive. I'm happy if pictures are on a thumb drive but if we only get 5 total then I'll pass.

If anyone can clarify specifically what you get for $89 I'd so appreciate it. We sail in less than 2 weeks and I'd love to make a decision.

    Thanks!

I don't know anything about your situation, but for me, it was very simple to take a proctored at-home test three days before the cruise.  it is a do-it-yourself test that you do using face-time or a similar video conferencing application.  You are monitored by a medical technician who certifies the test and the results.

How does one find such a proctor? Is there a website where it can be scheduled?

  6. Is this plan doable or am I crazy? I'm mainly asking about Monday, Oct. 15. There will be 4 of us (2 in the group are seniors who can get around fairly well but will need rest stops now and then). The plan is to use the subway system rather than the HOHO bus, but please correct me if that's a bad idea. I'm afraid we will just sit in traffic if we do the HOHO bus.

We arrive at JFK at 2:30pm on Sunday, Oct. 14....the plan is to get a taxi to our hotel in midtown Manhattan. Our only plan for that evening is to go to Times Square and to walk through Macy's.

Monday, October 15- After the morning rush hour about 9:30ish, our plan is to take the subway to see the 9/11 Memorial (not the museum) and from there take subway to Federal Hall, NY Stock Exchange, Wall Street, Charging Bull for photos and probably a quick bite to eat.I know most people could walk between the sights but we are trying to save the senior citizens' energy!:)

After that we will take the subway to the the Staten Island ferry terminal and take the ferry to take pics of Statue of Liberty and back on the ferry again.

I'm assuming it will be about 2:30pm or 3:00pm by this time.....or is that crazy to think we did the above mentioned activities in 5 or so hours? Again, if I'm wrong to think that, please correct me.

Moving along....take the subway back to Rockefeller Plaza and go to Top of the Rock and St. Patrick's Cathedral.

    Thoughts?

Tuesday, October 16- about 9:30am take subway to Central Park and take carriage ride. After carriage ride, take subway to Grand Central Terminal and from there walk to NY Public library/Bryant Park.

Be back at hotel around 2pm to get taxi to Brooklyn cruise terminal.

I would so appreciate any feedback on these plans and if it's too much or doable.

  7. We will be in Newport in mid-October and will take the Breakers and Marble House tours. I'd really like to do the Cliff Walk (or at least a portion of it), but time may not allow.

Will the views from the Breakers and Marble House mansions be the same as if actually on the Cliff Walk?

I guess I'm trying to make myself feel better if it turns out we can't do the Cliff Walk!:confused: :)

    :confused::confused:
