Hello
It's beginning to get exciting thinking about Christmas in the Amazon.
For anyone who has been to the Amazon or is familiar with that region, is a waterproof rain jacket necessary for that Cruise, particularly for the excursions?
We are taking the Amazon Jungle Trek excursion.
The balance of recommendations I have read is that a waterproof rain jacket is required for a trip of this nature.
We understand that December weather is overcast, hot and humid, and the rainy season begins in December.
Would those familiar provide some guidance here and weigh in on this? We would appreciate your thoughts......

I appreciate the rudimentary Economics factor that predisposes a cruise line or any company's motivation to treat customers well. That is in general a universal phenonminon.
If you read my post it refers to Regent's customer appreciation of previous customers in this particular instance as compared to other luxury lines that offer generous OBC's automatically regardless of the bottom line at the time, That is how I interpret that behaviour.
We sail with Regent because of the superior on board product, overall cruise experience, and their excellence. This is a shoreside decision at their corporate level that makes me wonder. The other cruise lines, in my experience, have not been conditional in providing the OBC depending upon "cabins sold and revenue generated" to date.
Their are other layers to this type of corporate decision than meet the eye IMHO.

Hello
Booked on Christmas in the Amazon cruise on the Mariner for December 12, 2023. Have sailed with RSCC previously and received on an board credit. When we sail with Silversea we receive a good OBC and recently on an Alaskan cruise with Seabourn we received 1000.00 USD for each 7 day cruise.
I am somewhat perplexed as the the lack of acknowledgement from RSCC. It is not that we need the OBC, rather it is the lack of lack of customer appreciation when other lines regularly do so.
Could someone shed some light upon this for me as I am confounded.
Thanks everyone.....

The complimentary wines on Seabourn Odyssey are uninspiring, IMHO—a mix of New Zealand, Austria, Spain, France, and some Californians. The Californians are the best in my experience. In particular, they are lacking in any credible reds. Others may be having a different experience.

Hi MBP&O2/O
I just spoke with Destination Services and am told that the Hubbard Glacier catamaran is limited to 120 persons. Whale watching is limited to 100 persons.

We used the automated passport control kiosk and breezed through embarkation with no problem whatsoever. We did go about an hour earlier than our designated embarkation time. No one bothered to ask about our assigned time, and we boarded immediately. It was all a very smooth immigration and boarding process.

Looking forward to following along. We’re doing the same in a couple of months.
question, is there one show in the grand salon at night? If so what time is the show?
enjoy and thanks
Nancy
Hi Nancy,
The shows have been at 9:30 p.m. in the Grand Salon thus far. There was a special show by a talented and engaging musician that we took in, a show with a magician we did not see, and tonight there is "Songs in the City" with the Seabourn Singers.

Hello fellow cruisers
Is the Compass Rose Restaurant open every day for lunch?
Does anyone have a sample lunch menu?
Thanks.

Ah, i get it! I like that it is just so civilized and liesurley which is in contrast to our busy world. We are on one of Regent's holiday cruises this year after a few years hiatus and are very much looking forward to it. Thanks for your reply

Hello fellow cruisers,
We have sailed many times with Regent and Silversea and have been wanting to try Seabourn for some time now.
We enjoy a sit down lunch in the main dining room at times. Does anyone have a lunch time sample menu or examples of what is
served at lunch time?
Thanks much!

Hello All
Thank you for the response. I have been purchasing cancel for any reason insurance on my cruises with Silversea for approximately 10 years now. Prior to October 1, 2019 I was able to purchase the CFAR insurance either along with the medical coverage plan or as stand alone product. If one applies the CFAR insurance to their cruise they do not receive a monetary amount in return. What one is provided is a cruise credit that you can apply to another trip with them within the next 12 month period. This CFAR is to cover the exposure during the 120 days prior to the trip where cancellation penalties occur.
I am not interested in cancelling an entire trip for any reason in order to whimsically use it. There are however situations in life one cannot anticipate that would not be covered under a medical plan. With the CFAR both the cruise company and the client are covered for the loss incurred should one have to cancel. The cruise company will receive the same amount that was paid for that trip because they may not be able to sell that cabin and thus will have monetary loss. The customer is allowed to transfer the credit they receive to another cruise.
This product is sold by several insurers in the United States, however for people who are residents of other countries, they may not be eligible to purchase insurance in their country or they are able to purchase the insurance at a prohibitive rate that far exceeds that which Silversea formerly charged.
The reason for writing this post is to let others who have a CFAR insurance policy on their booked cruise, should they need to make a change or cancel in the 120 day penalty period and their use their resulting credit on a future trip, the CFAR is no longer a product they sell, thus with this knowledge they could make an informed decision.

Has anyone had an unfortunate experience of finding out that the "cancel for any reason insurance" with Silversea? As of October 1st apparently one cannot purchase the cancel for any reason insurance any longer. I am told a letter went out to all Silversea guests notifying them of a change. I have cruised 6 times with Silversea and I am a "customer" who did not receive the notification. In the absence of this information I made decisions that I would other not have done if I had been aware of this change,
Any comments?

We are looking at booking 2 cruises back to back and are wondering if the O Life Choice of for example the shipboard credit of $400.00 would apply to each cruise for a total of $800.00 per person for the combined cruises?
Any input on this would be appreciated.

Does anyone know when the refurbishments of the Whisper are going to be complete? I am on the Whisper December 19 leaving Fort Lauderdale on the holiday cruise.
Any information and updates on the refurbishment would be appreciated
