Thank you for all the info !!!

    AMAZING !!!

Wondering where was LLP (Celebrity CEO) ???

I know Richard Fain (Corporate CEO & Chairman) was onboard for several days?

Have not seen a single posting referring to LLP.

I believe she was on board the Apex inaugural sailing in Europe…

Right -- so if 5% of passengers got COVID, you couldn't just isolate them and continue, which seemed to be what the other poster was suggesting.

You are correct, I did suggest that. I would still suggest that if they start to detect positive cases the have the capability to quickly isolate any affected. You are unlikely to get all 5% suddenly positive at the same time. I still maintain Celebrity is well positioned to avoid an outbreak significant enough to trigger cruise termination.

You trust our intel agencies? really?

    Well....

we can play the game of “whose fault was this” and “can you trust” all day. In the end, doesn’t matter as the basic fact is we have a pandemic and what are we doing and what can we be doing to mitigate it as quickly as possible.

if you don’t want to trust the government intel agencies, that’s fine. I feel they have more access to data and more experienced analysts to interpret the info then, say, Fox News or Qanon. You can question pretty much anything, but no other theory has any actual facts supporting it, just suspicions. At the end of the day, all that matters is what are WE going to do to help us all recover from the pandemic.

And the point of this thread was more about why isn’t the CDC doing more to help the cruise industry restart.

RCG and NCL are apparently still working together. No clue about Carnival or Princess but I've definitely never seen anything. Carnival has even more hoops to jump through due to their past environmental mishaps.

Read page 7 forward on this document from 2020.

I'm pretty sure this is the point the CDC felt like they were babysitting a bunch of idiots and had enough.

    Thanks for sharing. Very enlightening.

Have NCL, Carnival, Princess, etc submitted  that type of plan??   If the hang-up was just a logistics plan then I would think that at least one of the cruise lines would have developed a plan that would move them closer to sailing.  Are they waiting for every cruise line to submit a plan?   I'm becoming convinced that the CDC isn't interested in spending any time on this.

I believe this is the issue. The CDC is running ragged trying to manage pandemic issues for 350 million Americans and has little time to spare for a relatively small group of special interest people aka cruisers. Not sure it is reasonable to expect them to drop everything to facilitate, what, 50,000 or 100,000 of us to get to cruise when they are still battling a very active pandemic for the entire nation.

I want to cruise as much as the rest of you, but I am understanding of where we fit in the grand scheme.

    Hi Bob,

Just wanted to advise that the eight (8) day Eastern Caribbean cruise is now back and bookable. My reservation is also now accessible.

Should also mention that the earliest bookable Edge 2021 cruise (as of today), is for Sept 18th (Western Caribbean).

Seven (7) day alternating Eastern/Western Caribbean itineraries will begin with Saturday departures while our eight (8) day itinerary (November 6th) is the transition from a Saturday to Sunday departure.

Hopefully by November, cruises from the US will be operational, but we booked this cruise with the complete understanding that it may very well be canceled... It's just nice to have something to look forward to this year..

    Cheers!

    Bev

Hi Bev, and thanks for the follow up!

I did see that this morning, and I’m very pleased. I had booked a backup for the December 5 sailing, but the November 6 sailing fit my oh so tentative plans better. This is a great itinerary for me, two new ports and two favorites, so hoping this sticks.

Hope it works out for both of us, if so I hope to cross paths aboard with y’all. Stay safe!

  7. I booked this sailing yesterday online, called to get a confirmation and the rep couldn’t find it. Trying to access the reservation on site gets a “reservation not available try later message”. And now the sailing has disappeared from the sailings available online.

I know that there is a lot of juggling going on, but wondering if anyone else has noticed this particular cruise disappearing?
It seems this was to be the first new sailing for the Edge , but now the first listed is November 14.

This just happened to me with Celebrity.  Our Feb 2021 cruise was chartered.  They offered us $100 per person.  We had booked Sky Suites at a very good price.  They gave us 5 options of new sail dates that would keep our price locked in plus the extra ship board credit.  The option we chose didn't have any Sky Suites available and they upgraded us to the next suite up!  For us is worked out great!

If they are price locking you in at your original price (and it's a good one) then I would for sure re-book with whatever options they gave you.  I think it's pretty rare honestly that these things happen.....but if it did happen again, you would probably just benefit from it again!

Can I ask which sailing got chartered? TIA

The price varies by ship and cruise.  For our Harmony cruise in June the price is $1399.00.  I can’t think of any lunch that would make that worth it for us😂.  We’ve been there three times this summer and found the free food offerings to be pretty good, a big improvement over the old Coco Cay.

We had a “perfect” day without spending any money.

    Sherri🙂

I think the question was about the Beach Club pass, around $69 pp. not eh over water floating cabana.

  10. For March 17 sailing of Harmony, Grease is listed at the usual times in the cruise planner. However it does not show in the app. I find the app to be quite variable in what is and isn’t included and its accuracy.

And then you get on board and it all changes again. No worries, we’re on a cruise.

Probably a stupid question but couldn't find any information whether you can order cocktails at Vintages Wine Bar. Are they strictly just wine? The bar is close to our room and I'm not a wine drinker but my wife is.

So I’m not sure about cocktail availability or variety in Vintages proper, but right out the door is the Trellis bar that does nice cocktail selection. She could get wine of choice and join you in Central Park, or you could get cocktail and join her in Vintages, (Which is typically quite quiet).

    Gimmick.

find a plaque on a wall and press the X-ray button and it brings up a picture of what is behind the wall.

Actually, doesn’t it bring up a live video feed? The example I saw posted showed a feed from the bridge.
