  1. Hello everyone!
My husband I want to book a room on Adventure of the Seas and need a bit of advice.  We plan to do an inside promenade view and our choice is either a 7th floor room where our only choices are connecting rooms or a 6th floor room where we would be above shops. Which would be the better choice if we were concerned about noise while sleeping? We only need one room so that is why we are hesitant to get a connecting room since we don't want to easily hear random people next door. Thoughts?
  2. We sailed on Royal for our first cruise this past spring and loved it. Now we are looking at two very different cruises from Royal to go on in August. One is an Alaskan cruise that sails out of Seattle that has great excursions and sounds like it would be a trip of a lifetime. The other is an Eastern Caribbean cruise that sails out of Orlando. We are very conflicted deciding between the two of them as they both have their pros and cons. Both are on newer ships (Ovation and Harmony) and since our last ship was Vision we are excited to try something larger.  We live on the East Coast so flying to Seattle would be a longer trip with more expensive airfare.  However, the type of excursions they offer seem like things we would love to try. The Eastern Caribbean one we would link up two days before sailing with a trip to Universal Studios which we have wanted to go together. We are concerned about hurricanes and though the idea of snorkeling and other water activities sounds fun we are not the lay out on the beach type people (and before people say "Why go on an Eastern Caribbean cruise then if you aren't beach people" we still want to go see the destinations provided and do some activities.) We want to make our decision soon so if anyone has any thoughts or has been on any of those cruises and can offer some first hand thoughts we would love to hear them!

  3. I am looking at booking a cruise next August that has a stop at CocoCay. In the description of the port it says it is "Perfect day at CocoCay". I understand that Royal is building new things like water slides and offering things to try like hot air balloons but is all of that included in the price we pay or are we going to have to buy an excursion package to do these things? (For example we wouldn't be able to use the water slides without paying for the privilege.) Everything I keep looking at it does not seem to make this all clear.

  4. My advice is to purchase as much as you can in advance. The lines are enormous almost every place we went, the Accademia, the Sagrada Familia, the Vatican, the Colosseum, you name it!

You will save a lot of time by purchasing in advance.

Thank you! That is what I was leaning towards doing :)

  5. We already ordered tickets for the main attractions that need tickets to be purchased ahead of time (we are going with a tour group to certain attractions so we needed to have timed tickets). But what about other museums where you could walk up and buy tickets in person? Is it worth it to buy tickets online and have the confirmation/tickets in hand? We have euros but we also have a credit card that has no fees. This is our first time in Europe so we were curious what other travelers think.

  6. When we sailed on the Serenade in February, we were billed for Hubby's sodas at dinner, even though he had the soda package. We went to guest services and the person working there said, " You have to use your cup at the freestyle machine in order to not get charged." When I replied that the Serenade does not have a freestyle machine:confused:, she immediately took the charges off.

We were checking the next evening to make sure there were no more erroneous charges on our account. Our Table mates names came onto our TV screen in OUR cabin!:o

The next day just for kicks in Giggles we signed in again to our TV. This time it was in German!;p

We have the refreshment package which includes sodas (we are leaving on our first cruise next week). I didn't know sodas could only be taken at the freestyle machines if there are any on board but I'm glad I found your post!

  7. We are flying into Barcelona early in the morning on the day our ship departs. We are having the ship's transfer bring us to port. I just wanted to know if there was anyway we could check into the cruise, leave our bags and walk around the city for a bit. This will be my first cruise so if this is something most people know I apologize in advance.

  8. We are taking a few excursions from the ship and wanted to know if there were any guidelines about tipping the tour operators and the drivers. It's a European cruise and I know that usually in Europe you don't tip but since we are going to be on Royal Caribbean I just wanted to make sure we do not get caught unaware at the end of the tour. Also was curious about tipping an European tour guide for a private tour.

  9. So a question about excursions. I know some of them are shorter than the time we spent in port (say you are in port for 7 hours and an excursion is three hours). After the excursion can you stay in the city or does being part of an excursion mean they have to drive you back to the ship? I'm going on a cruise where we will be in Ravenna and Kotor and both have excursions I might be interested in but I don't want to only spend the time in the city with the excursion and then be forced back to the ship when we still have some time left in the city to explore. This is my first cruise so apologies if this is a well known thing.
