  1. Thanks for the info!! Is your daughter still on the CB? I am glad you had a great cruise!! Be well,

    Freddie

    Feddie,

You're welcome. I'm glad Dave Elua had better information for you. My daughter finished her contract on the Caribbean Princess in August.

  2. What position did your daughter have on the ship? Did you get special pricing being that you have a family member on staff? Also, how did she go about getting a job on the ship? I would love to play (I'm a drummer) on a ship during the summer. I am a teacher, so I am off for 2 months, but I hear contracts are usually 6 months.

You are correct, the contract for performers is 6 months on board plus rehersal time prior to boarding. I'm guessing it is the same for the musicians, but I'm not positive. My daughter is part of the production shows. She had to go thorugh an audition process to get her job. Again I'm not sure what the process for musicians would be. There are several websites with information on cruiseship jobs. Just do a search and you'll find more information than I could ever give you. Good luck.

  3. My daughter just finished her contract on the CB so she was there for the first two theater shows. She said the shows went over great and Wavelength had a packed house both nights. She said the shows were really good. I'm glad they put those guys in the big theater. I just wish I had a chance to see it.

  4. I see on their website that someone tagged them in a photo from their first theatre show performance. It looks AWESOME! Quite a step up from the Explorer's Lounge stage. I understand they're doing another show this cruise so maybe this weekend someone will tell us about it and/or have some pictures to show. Hope so!

Where are these pictures? I couldn't find them.

  5. Judyjay, I saw that too, on their website. I hope someone from last cruise posts on here to tell us how it was! What I understand was that they wanted to do the show on the last night of the cruise 'just in case' it didn't go over too well or something but hopefully they ROCKED and proved to Princess they can do it. Look forward to someone telling us about it!!!

I spoke to someone that was there last night and they said it was awsome. The theater was full and the crowd loved them. Who thought it might not go over well? Couldn't have been the band, they've got to know how good they are.

  6. C&F

I'm glad you enjoyed the original "Fairwarning" version of "She don't know me".

We were on the CB the week after you. How did you do in the POP STAR competition?

I can't tell you how much we enjoyed Wavelength. Not the typical band you see on a cruise ship, and that is a very, very good thing. I heard they did a concert in the Princess Theater last night. I wish they had done that on our cruise. I would love to see them in a larger venue. If they would play the larger theater early in the cruise, I'm sure they would pack the lounge everynight after that.

  7. We're booked on the CB for the 10/5 Canada/New England cruise out of NYC. Does anyone know if Wavelength will still be on board then?

    Thanks,

    Oledave

On their myspace page it says that they are under contract to Princess until Sept. 7th. Doesn't look like they'll be there. Sorry you're going to miss them, they're a great band.

  8. Marge,

Thanks, I can't wait to see the pictures. I wish we lived closer to NYC so we could check out your band, but we're in Ohio. I've checked out your website and myspace. It looks like you've had a very interesting and exciting career. My husband was signed with MCA back in the early 80's. Oh my, that was as whole different lifetime ago. He still plays with his old band once in a while, but he has passed the musical torch to our two children.

Being a musician, and an old "groupie" we really appreciate live music. Live bands just don't have as many places to perform as they did back in the day when all clubs had live bands.

We were so impressed with Wavelength, they are not only a great group of musician, but a really nice group of guys too. We had the opportunity to speak with them on serveral occasions and they were kind enough to take the time to swap stories with an old pro. I love their concept with "Rockstar". From what I understand that is their product, not the cruise line's. We were on the cruise the week after you and there were a ton of people ready and willing to participate. Young, old, talented and shall we say not so talented, but everyone had such a great time. Lots of fun and lots of great music. I guess that's why we alway found ourselves back watching them.

  9. Kathy

I missed Wavelength on the deck.:(

Sorry you missed Rick singing, but if you really want to hear him you can go to myspace.com/laflavour On the right there is a section with some of their original songs. Rick sings "She Don't Know Me" and yes it is the same song Bon Jovi does, but Rick recorded the original verson--long story.

  10. We loved Wavelength. My husband was a professional musican for many years, so we really appreciate good live music. These talented musician were a hugh part of why we enjoyed our 7/19 cruise so much. We went to see them nearly every night. My husband even dusted off his vocal chords and sang with them one evening. That was fun, I felt like we were 27 again. I hope Princess is treating these guys well because they deserve it. They are by far the best live band I've ever seen on board a cruise ship. I'm a fan!!
