  1. Hello, we’ve cruised often primarily with Royal Caribbean and most recently with Celebrity. Our last cruise was with Celebrity in June, Western Med., it was wonderful. Food was mediocre and I understand that’s a subjective view.

Looking at Azamara Onward, October 2024 as a surprise 70th birthday present to my wife. Recent reviews have not been to complimentary, excluding the booking issues, which I’ll leave to my TA, anything I should be concerned about? I have read a fair number of posts on the Azamara boards.
    thanks in advance

  2. Hi, we are on a June Celebrity cruise also, overnight in Livorno. There are either 3 or 4 of us. First day we are planning to get on high speed train to Florence on our own. Returning in the early evening. Second day we are looking at tours to Sienna or Lucca.

Celebrity does offer a tour to Cinque Terre.

  3. This may have already been discussed, but there are 6100+ posts, so I apologize in advance.
We are sailing on the Reflection from Barcelona to Rome, leaving June 10. We are four adults. We are flying into Paris a week before, returning from Rome airport.

Any recommendations for a shuttle service into center city Paris from CDG and from Rome port to FCO. Looking at flights leaving from FCO after 11:00 AM. To early?

    thank you, Kevin

  4. Hi,

Usually the first time we dock at an island we do a ships excursion for an overview, then next time we go out on our own.

We did this tour from Celebrity, it's a van, spend a fair amount of time at Brimstone fort & Romney Manor. I think all of these tours really depend on the driver, ours was excellent & we enjoyed the island. Time wise it gave us sufficient time to explore the town on our own.

  5. We are taking our first Holland American cruise in late April on the Maasdam, and are looking forward to the change. We are Elite on Celebrity, so while we are giving up some very nice perks, we've heard some very good things from friends regarding Holland America.

My question is are there deals to be had if you book onboard, we are looking at December in the Caribbean this year and September in the Med next year.

    Thanks

    Kevin

  6. Hi,

We are considering an Azamara cruise in May 2016 that will terminate in Nice.

Planning on spending a few days post cruise in Paris.

Is an 11:00 AM flight to early?

    Thanks for your advice.

  7. This was our first trip to Europe and our first cruise to the med. From the start I was a little hesitant as we were traveling outside our comfort zone, but that was put to rest when I contacted Jany at Rome in Limo. We arrived at the pier and there was Mike waiting on us with a Mercedes van! Off to a great start. Mike, having lived in the US spoke excellent English and gave us very nice introduction to Rome. At each stop in Rome, Mike would take a few minutes to explain what we were seeing and the history, then we were off to explore and meet up with Mike at a certain time, ie at the Spanish Steps 15 minutes to explore. Since the Trevi fountain is being worked on, Mike took us to one overlooking the city, how special. Lunch at a local restaurant, then on to meet our Vatican guide, Massimo.

Jany's advice of getting tickets to the colosseum and the Vatican saved us hours! Massimo was knowledgeable, knew the lay of the land, stopped to show us things we would have walked right by, then before getting into the Sistine Chapel, stopped and explained what we were going to see and showed us pictures before the restoration. Just amazing. After the tour it was back to Mike and a nice drive back to the ship.

A great introduction to Rome, provided by a first class tour company.

  8. We have signed up for the celebrity excursion that goes to Pisa and Florence that will drop you

off in Pisa for an hour and then in Florence for several hours. Does anyone know

the drop off point in Florence. We want to plan a walking route that will allow us time to

    sit and enjoy the city.

As always thanks for your assistance.

  9. Need some advice.

First time in Europe, arriving 9-2 staying at Trinity Square. Cruise leaves Southampton

on 9-7. After reading these boards appears train is recommended transportation.

Waterloo (WAT) station to Southampton-Central. Looking at 9:35 AM train, cost 38.50 British

Pounds per person. We will have 3 suitcases, is best way to get to Waterloo station a taxi?

Any and all suggestions are welcome.
