  1. The cruise terminal provides a free shuttle from the ship to a few areas of interest nearby (such as Dubai Mall, Mercato etc), but the bus goes right past the entrance to the QE2 Dubai, so I'm sure you could ask the driver to stop briefly for you.

  2. BERENGARIA - A queen with the -ia ending. Pleases the traditionalists who want an -ia name, keeps the queen's motif going and the original RMS Berengaria was a little top heavy, a bit like the pictures of her that we've seen so far.

Queen Berengaria, I rather like that, and the original ship was BEAUTIFUL. Come to think of it, were any of the ocean liners of yesteryear ugly in the same way as some modern cruise ships?

  3. HI... for a long time I have wanted to sail on the QM.

My parents enjoyed many Cunard cruises over the years - and I remember their stories of the great ships and experiences (note: Mom loved to dress, Dad not so much - but he went along as long as Mom pulled it all together! :D:D)

However, I am not into "dressing up" every night, and while relaxing during sea days - prefer a nice tShirt or Coverup and Shorts over my bathing suit to sit, wander or find a place for day meals.....

so I have chosen many "casual cruises" over the years to many places on NCL.

Would I be comfortable on this type of cruise...I am thinking of the 14 day Transatlantic - dont really need any tours of Europe - been there plenty of times/ done that

But I do love Sea Days!

    Thanks!

Dressing up at night is okay, but if it was 'smart casual' during the day as well, I couldn't do it. This is why I've never taken the Orient Express, the dress code etc is all a bit too restrictive, though I suppose I could put up with it for a one or two night train trip :)

  4. It depends on your budget, there's Atmosphere at the top of the Burj Dubai (120th floor), or a lovely Spanish restaurant at the top of the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, and they do afternoon tea at the top floor restaurant at the Burj Al Arab.

But these are all expensive options.

There's also the Jumeirah Four Seasons which has some nice places and Nikki Beach. I just realised these are all hotels, but you'll see when you're here that Dubai loves itself some hotels :D
