  1. I know how you must be feeling.  I have a trip booked May 19 to fly to Vegas and meet my son for our birthdays. Supposed to fly to Lake Tahoe for a week and Idaho for a week and meet my sister in Seattle before flying home.

I am waiting til mid May before cancelling my flights.  I haven't seen my son in a year, so we are hoping the west coast is less dangerous by then.  Hoping the HOT temp and dry air knock out the virus sooner there.

I have a cruise from Venice to Rome scheduled for July.  Hoping things settle down by then and it's a go, but trying to come up with scenarios if it's cancelled.  The cruise is for my daughter's 16th birthday, so if it gets cancelled, I'd still like to take her somewhere (I took her brother to Korea for his 16th last year).  What would YOU do if your summer cruise was cancelled?  Stay home?  Cruise somewhere else?  Vacation somewhere else?  Where else would you consider going? Looking for back up ideas here 😄

I love visiting the National Parks.   A trip to Lake Tahoe is one of my favorite places.   Yosemite National Park is only 90 miles south.   Weather is perfect.  Near 80 and low humidity.  Casino hotels too.  Fly in and out of Sacramento and you can spend a day at the Napa /Sonoma wineries.  I will be there for Memorial Day.  Love it.

  3. When more people die from Corona than the flu, then I will take it seriously.   Doubt that will happen with Spring approaching and people outdoors every day.

Swine Flu was much more serious to me cuz it was killing every age group.  People over 80 are at high risk for death every day.  I am guessing more will die from falling.

Looking forward to seeing my son in Vegas for Memorial Day and my sister in WA state in June.   BTW, National Parks were recommended for Spring Breakers cuz activities are outdoors.  I assume that the Beaches near me on Cape Cod will be packed this summer.  Restaurants near us are busy this week, which really amazed me.  People probably need a drink to relax.  Don't worry.  Be Happy!!!

  4. We took a cruise late February to the ABC islands.   No fear from me.  I think this whole issue is vastly overblown.   We survived the swine flu in 1976 which had extremely severe symptoms.

Why do so many people die from the flu each year?  Probably because they have pre existing health issues. Elderly and infants are always at risk.  I think it is crazy to close down every activity because of a virus unless it has a high mortality rate among people who are not elderly.

Not canceling my trip to Vegas, Tahoe, Glacier National Park and Washington this Spring.

61 days away from my cruise on Breakaway.....nothing gonna stop me!  I'm gonna washy washy and make sure my BAC is well above the boiling point of the Coronavirus (although I am not a fan of Corona)....

I think the flu and virus season will be minimal in 60 days.  I heard that only people with high risk ailments should rethink their activities.  DH and I got off a 9'day cruise last Sunday.  We were careful to wash our hands frequently and wear sunglasses to avoid touching our eyes.  We ate lunch in the dining room instead of dinner and sat at a table away from others who may be coughing.  We didn't hesitate to get up and move if somebody did start coughing.  We are retired but have no medical issues.  We got our elderly pneumonia shot last year and we're sure to get our elderly flu shot in the Fall.  Since then, we have not even had a cold this winter.  With warm temps at Cape Cod this winter, have enjoyed walking the Canal and getting lots of fresh air.

Welcome DAYLIGHT SAVINGS.  .   .   Put out our birds  flag for our first sign of Spring just around the corner. Near 70 Monday sounds great to me.  Let's open our windows and clear out those dirty germs.  Good bye Flu season!  See ya later Corona.  Welcome Heineken season with BBQ tomorrow!

  6. I was on a ship a week ago.  Was wondering why I left my IPad and reading glasses home.   At least I had my iPhone.

I was shocked the ship was full.  Was hoping to upgrade to a balcony, but nobody cancelled.  It would not bother me to be quarantined the last two weeks in February if I was in a balcony cabin.  Makes me rethink booking an inside cabin during Flu season.

  7. Just returned from a Caribbean Cruise to ABC islands.  Full ship.  Went to Disney with granddaughters before the cruise.

We plan to visit our son in Vegas over Memorial Day.  Flying to Tahoe from there and up to Glacier National Park.  Ending our trip in Everett, WA visiting my sister before flying home to Cape Cod.

We've had such a nice warm winter this year that hopefully the flu and virus season will be over early. Welcome Daylight Savings and Spring!!!

  8. We just returned a week ago from a 9 day Caribbean Cruise  to the ABC islands. I was hoping to get an upgrade when we boarded, but unfortunately, the ship was full.

We avoided sitting next to others in the theater and ate lunch in the dining room instead of dinner to get a table a good distance from others.   I prefer NCL during Flu season cause they have sanitizer machines all over their ships.  This cruise was on RC.  They did have sanitizer in the dining areas but not throughout the ship.  I like NCL sanitizers at elevators and casino entrances.  All ships should increase the supply of these machines.

It was a great cruise.  Will hope to cruise to Bermuda this Fall.

  9. We appreciate all the info from posters. We previously booked balcony cabins on Princess so this is the first time with an OV guarantee.

Can't wait to sail Ruby June 9. It's like a kid's countdown to Christmas.

  10. Been waiting for room assignment. When does Princess usually assign guarantee rooms? Would love an upgrade for our 50th anniversary celebration on Alaska cruise June 9. I can dream but will be happy just boarding the ship. Can't wait.

  11. We are finally both retired and only pack a carryon and backpack when we travel. We don't dress up any longer but have not been turned away from a dining room yet. When DH saw a guy in a Hawiian Shirt and another in a Charlie Sheen shirt, he decided it was time to pack lightly when we travel. It would be nice to have early bird dining at 5m for people like us and have the formal attire for dinner after 7pm in the anytime dining room. Basically, that is what we noticed anyways on our cruises. The older we get, the earlier we eat. We will be celebrating surviving 50yrs of marriage on our June cruise to Alaska. I want a SURVIVOR tshirt "OUTWIT OUTLAST" for my cruise.

  12. That's great news for celebrating SURVIVING marriage and all its obstacles for 50 years. We will kick off the party at Doubletree at the airport Friday, June 8, our official wedding day. Let the fun begin! Yahoo!!!

  13. Panama Canal cruise ports are horrible. NCL: Add more Caribbean ports with beaches like Aruba and cancel Columbia, Guatemala and Nicaragua. Yuck. We were so disappointed with ports on NCL in Feb. I noticed they added Aruba & Curaco in Caribbean and Ixtapa on NCL Gem in Jan. one year too late. Wish it left in Feb instead of Jan.
