  1. We are also from Kansas City so great to see others from our area on poa. We went 3/17 to 3/24. We were sad that Kilauea was barely flowing on our cruise by . Wow have times changed . We are closely following the lava so very sad !!! We took the volcano National Park excursion and now we wouldn’t recognize the area . Our bus driver commented that the locals were worried that it would come back strong after being almost dormant for two months . We loved the cruise except for morderno and dining room. Cagneys and teppanyaki were super . We also had port side and loved it we had two bedroom suite 10678. Wow what huge balcony. Hope to return on cruise later in the springtime in future as it rained on Maui, kauai and disembarkment . It was our first cruise but not our last as we used our cruise next already on bliss over Fourth of July 2019. Hope the changes in port weren’t too disappointing. Did you like staying in Honolulu the first night ?

  2. With ours our final payment to ncl was 498 after the 300 onboard spent we got plus the 250 from cruise next . If you take a couple of excursions or spend as much as we did on merchandise it go away quickly and we didn’t spend any money on booze other than two mudslides my wife had . I remember the brochure talking about extra gift if you used cruise next and booked a cruise while on board but we didn’t do that and came home to research the bliss to Alaska first . I think it might have been extra onboard credit but not sure . If I find the brochure in the pile of stuff my wife came home with I will post it

  3. Yes they are easy to use. We purchased 500 cruise next on the pride of America got 250 to use obc combined with the 300 obc we got with suite it paid for all our excursions and merchandise bought in gift shop. We have used the two 250 cruise next as downpayment on bliss for two balcony over Fourth of July 2019.

  4. I think it was around 11 . My bil saw a woman slip and her leg went in the opening between the ship ramp and the tender . She lost her shoe but the guys were able to fish it out of the water . I don’t know how someone with a walker would make it down the ramp and onto the tender

  5. We were on the cruise a month ago and we had no excursion thru the ship or on our own so we ate a leisurely breakfast and waited for the open seat call. We were interested in kona coffee and rode the trolly along the shoreline up to the Sheraton resort and back to the tender location . Very enjoyable afternoon with fabulous coffee . The tender getting on and off was tricky for some but there were multiple guys there to assist the nervous ones . Well worth the time

  6. We rented from Alamo before we realized they have no shuttle anymore . They did deduct the cost of cab from our prepayment . The shuttle for other car rentals was just past the line of tour buses . Take all with you to rent a car it’s a pain to pick up and drop off at ship .

Sorry we had three of us as the fourth had to back out after initial reservation. The only problem with five people is only one bathroom I would think. The balcony has two lounge chairs and 5 chairs and a table . It was great also because we could see both port and starboard easily . It was relaxing listening to the water rushing beneath us . We were surprised at how little the three identical balconies below us were used . We could look down and see the railings of each deck

  8. We stayed in 10678 on our cruise in march. The main bedroom has a king size bed but really tight . Second bedroom has fold out twin . Third bed is foldout . There is a regular door in main bedroom and sliding door to second bedroom, the deck is massive . I would try for deck nine as the room is right below deck 11 and it got noisy around 4:30 am as you heard chairs being moved as they cleaned the deck . The shower is tiny but manageable. We loved the extra perks of eating breakfast at cagneys and the trays of goodies left in room late every afternoon. We would definitely say in a two bedroom suite again . Being in the aft it is a long walk to some areas of ship but that was no big deal to us

  9. No just for the Thursday in Kauai. The ship leaves around 2:00 on Friday for Nepali coastline so not much time to see sights on Friday unless you are early risers which we aren’t . My brother in law and niece did rent scooters on Friday morning and had a great time and managed to dodge all the chickens .

  10. We were on the poa a week ago. We rented a suburban from Alamo it wasn’t very expensive . The shuttle from ship to port was just a couple miles . It was raining and all excursions were cancelled but we had prepaid for vehicle so off we went to Waimea canyon anyway . The weather and sights were very nice . It was an easy six hour day trip . We made all the way to the last lookout . We also stopped at kauai coffee plantation on the way back . Well worth the stop.

  11. Marriott was great . Only problem with cruise was the dining room food was very poor as was moderno . The food at cagneys was terrific as was teppanyaki. If you are early riser the buffet was a chaotic zoo so if you go after 8:00 it was fine for breakfast . We ate twice at night at buffet it was typical buffet food . The comedian was very funny . Finally wow was that a small shower

  12. We just got home from POA and stayed at Marriott. We were told to leave all bags in room and they were sent to our suite and staged outside of door . They were almost all there when we were allowed to get into room at 3:00. The rest of bags showed up within 10-15 minutes . We were assigned 11:15 to take shuttle to ship. It went extremely smooth

  13. Just rented a car for the day in Maui. No longer run shuttle to car rental or at least Alamo dropped this service from pride of America . What is the cost for cab to car rental and how long are lines to wait for cab is it like Vegas where there is a line of cabs waiting to take you to car rental and how about a cab after dropping off car . I prepaid from Alamo so I am stuck now . I would imagine there will be a huge number of people getting off POA that Sunday morning . Any advice will be greatly appreciated

  14. Dave, we took a tour bus to diamond head two years ago and the visitor center is next to parking lot so we didn’t even go in. The trail is not difficult at all . My wife took the easy route and I took the steps thru the tunnel. It was not big deal and I am far from a climber as we are in our early sixties . Just take your time the view from the top is well worth it. The whole climb and time at the top and descent took only a few hours. We highly recommend it
