  1. Hi all,

I have booked in a suite on the Divina on 12/16 however after reading more reviews I am LITERALLY TERRIFIED of the experience we will receive. I almost booked a Celebrity Concierge Suite on Celebrity but changed last minute because of the suite.

I'm not so picky about food but hearing that the ship is a cluster of people and the bad service are really turning me off.

I also called MSC to inquire about upgrading and got the WORST customer service agent in the world. I was FINALLY routed to a manager (the first agent out right refused to let me talk to a manager until I got really angry) and she is trying to help get us into the Yacht Club but other than that, I am honestly thinking about throwing away this money and booking something else.

As the manager said, "I don't want you to feel like you are going on this cruise because you have to" however this is exactly how I feel.

My boyfriend hasn't had a real vacation in years so we are really looking forward to this trip and want a nice experience.

    What should I do??????

    Appreciate your help.

I returned from the Divina, and as promised, I will tell you the problem isn’t with the specific ship, but the cruise line. The ship was beautiful and very clean. The cleaning staff and food service staff were great, except for one or two, but the customer service, excursion, and store staff were, in general, inept, barely spoke English, and were rude, especially to one another, which was hard to watch. The food was not good. If I ate it in any restaurant, I’d never return to that establishment again. Food is subjective though, and I did contract a food borne illness. Also, we paid for the Aurea experience and due to msc’s error, they refused to honor it for the first part of our trip, even though I showed them my receipt. Essentially, I paid a lot of money for services not received. The customer service employees said they were only a go between and couldn’t help me until the Miami office was open and could figure it out (days later). In the real world, this is called theft. In msc’s world, we were asked why we were even complaining. Smh. To avoid this, I’d check in earlier and ensure your packages are correct. We didn’t know until we went for a drink of bottled water our first night.

  2. Thank you. While in Antigua, we went snorkeling near CoralWorld. It is still significantly damaged from the hurricane and closed.

  3. I was in this cruise. When we get home, I will post my lengthy review. I got food poisoning. It ruined my trip. I am still sick. What was worse was paying for the aurea experience and even though I had my receipt to show them, a glitch in their system wouldn’t allow it to show up until half way through the cruise and we were denied all amenities. No drinks. No private sin deck. No spa. No robes (which we desperately needed since the airlines lost all of our luggage). Unreal. We paid for so much they would not give us. I even offered to pay twice so we could drink, but they denied us— it made no sense.

  5. To clarify, as we just spent 8 days on the Davina with the Aurea experience, don’t take your kids into the adult areas. It’s the only place for adults only and kids being snuck in was a downer. Some 12 year old girl danced in her bikini for 30 minutes on the raised solarium deck next to a hot tub full of adult men. It was appalling.

  6. The MSC website is driving me crazy. There always seems to be "just one" cabin available.

I am currently looking at 2/25...and the one Interior Cabin is 12076 which is right by the elevator. Has anyone had this cabin and if so, any noise issues?

Another question is with the drinks for the Fantastica experience. I know this is a stupid question, but does the cost of the experience include tips or will I be expected to tip for each drink?

    Thank you

We are staying in 12072 next week, so I'll let you know about the noise issue when we get back.

  7. Anyone ever been to Coral World? We really wanted to do the helmet diving (Sea Trek) when there, but it seems like it is sold out in Coral World for our dates (according to their website). If not, and you know of other helmet diving spots in St. Thomas, please let us know! Thank you.

  8. My 14 year old is 6’2”. I could easily sneak him into any adult area. I wouldn’t. I wouldn’t want anyone to mistake him for an adult. I always think “worst case scenario” and then I realize rules are in place for a reason.

  9. I am a germophobe. I am the pickiest eater I've ever known. I, in general, dislike people, and normal children annoy me. I will be back from the DIvina on Dec. 16. I will let you know if I survive. I think I will, simply because I want to have a good time...despite the germs, food, and people, which, essentially, plague every developed spot on the planet...yes, even I may have a good time, so you probably can too.

  10. I read a cruise tip that advised bringing a set of magnetic hooks to utilize in one's room, especially in the bathroom. Are there metal surfaces in the Divina rooms where I could use these? If it makes a difference, we are in a balcony room. Thank you!

  11. I searched for a long time for something I could stand to wear that was red-white-and green, as I wanted to include all three colors and most dresses were Christmas-y. I finally found a white dress with large red flowers (green leaves) on it at the bottom...so, that's an idea! My DH will wear his white dress pants and a green shirt.

  12. I'm curious about the irons. Divina is an Italian made European ship. The cabins have both 240 and 120 volt outlets. I would deduce the ship runs a 240v system to service the cabins assuming a 15 amp breaker, 3600VA. Now your regular European iron is going to pop the breaker incurring the wrath of the crew. Now if there is a little 3600VA step down transformer providing the 120 volts, you have basically 30 amps available so a regular 1600w 120 v iron won't trip any 240 v breakers. Of course this is purely conjecture. And you wouldn't want to forget your iron and start a fire. Or use a sprinkler head as a hanger.

I wondered about the voltage as well.

I also wondered if a small travel steamer would be easier/ better. I really don't want to lug my iron.

  13. We purchased the drink package. I was reading in another forum that the drinks in the room are free if you have the drinks package? I only drink bottled water. The DH only drinks soda. I bought the drink package because I thought it would be cheaper than doling out cash for soda.

So I have to bring my iron, there is none they can lend to you? I mean...it's the Caribbean...linen clothes...wrinkles...I'm sure I'll need one.

  14. Are there irons in the rooms on the Divina, or do we have access to them?

Can you smoke on your balcony? Anyone ever do it?

I see pictures of stocked fridges on the Divina. Do you have to pay for the items in the fridge?

    Thank you!

  15. We purchased our cruise tickets last spring when we anticipated our finances would be much different than they panned out to be. We don't want to cancel. We have our cruise paid for, with a drink package (MSC Divina). Any suggestions on how to do this on a tight budget, or even if that's possible to do? I know we will be charged the tip fee when we embark, but anything else, or any tips would be appreciated. This is our first cruise!
