Nothing if you made your own air and hotel arrangements. We were lucky to be able to change our flights home tomorrow. Just got to Singapore yesterday morning after flying for 20 hrs only to turn right back around tomorrow. On a positive note, we loved Singapore. So clean and friendly. Amazing food.

Westiesheepie, How disappointing and upsetting though.

New travel advisory indicates they will "host" you in hotels, etc.  https://www.seabourn.com/en_US/news.html

Seabourn Cruise Line has cancelled the next voyage on Seabourn Ovation. The decision comes out of an abundance of caution considering the highly dynamic and unpredictable changes we have seen the past couple of weeks in travel restrictions and port operations that could affect the cruise. While we expect things will stabilize, we never want to put our guests in the position of a having an experience that doesn’t live up to their expectations.

Seabourn Ovation was due to depart Singapore on February 15, 2020 for a 14-day round trip cruise. We have had no known or suspected cases of coronavirus on board.

Affected guests will receive a refund of the fare paid for the 14-day voyage. Because the cruises were cancelled close to the departure dates, guests will also receive a future cruise credit. Guests and travel advisors are being notified and those guests in Singapore will be hosted in local hotels while they rebook their onward travel. While this decision will be disappointing for our guests, we feel they will understand the commitment to continue to work closely with the health authorities because we share a common goal of looking after the safety and well-being of our guests, crew and the places we visit.

We continue to assess the situation and will provide a further update on future voyages in Asia once we have more information."

  3. I don't know about that tour, other than you could also see some of those destinations from our first port if concerns are too much for one day.  In searching information about Auckland, I did notice a Photography Tour.  https://www.newzealand.com/us/plan/business/auckland-photography-walks/    and some other stops, like the Canterbury area and Wellington, also have specific photography tours.  https://www.newzealand.com/us/photography/        On Wednesday, we booked a 6 hour food & wine tour on Waiheke Island, supposedly also a with beautiful scenery.

  4. Seabourn updated their Health Advisory Sunday, and again yesterday.  https://www.seabourn.com/en_US/news.html

Any individual who has traveled from or through mainland China, Macau, or Hong Kong within 14 days of the start of their cruise, (including transit through their airports), will not be permitted to board the ship.

    February 10, 2020

For Seabourn Sojourn in Asia, in light of new restrictions throughout the region on travelers coming from or traveling through Hong Kong, the ship will no longer call in Hong Kong on April 3, 2020. Itinerary revisions are currently being confirmed and details of the revised itineraries will be communicated to guests and travel advisors as soon as possible.

  5. The Health Travel Advisory on the Seabourn Press page, first linked to the Feb 3rd press release, is now prominently at top of page. https://www.seabourn.com/en_US/news.html   Both advisories signed by the Chief Medical Officer.  I believe this one is stricter than previous statement, now including prohibition of transit through Hong Kong and Macau. https://www.seabourn.com/en_US/news/travel-advisory.html   An excerpt from current advisory:

We have also adopted measures intended to keep you safe. These include:

    1. Any individual who has traveled from or through mainland China, Macau, or Hong Kong within 14 days of the start of their cruise, (including transit through their airports), will not be permitted to board the ship.
      1. Shipboard staff will be scanning guest passports to verify transit through any of the prohibited areas. Given the serious nature of these circumstances, false responses on pre-boarding documents will result in immediate grounds for disembarkation at the next opportunity. Guests who do not disclose travel through prohibited areas in Asia may also face additional legal consequences.
    2. Any individual who has been in contact with a suspected or confirmed case of coronavirus or a person under monitoring for coronavirus within 14 days of the start of the cruise, will not be permitted to board the ship.
  6. The Royal Cam's Facebook page and Twitter account, linked here, https://www.doc.govt.nz/royalcam. Post clips of the more happening events...recent hatching, placement of hatched chick back into the nest, daily weighing of chick, etc. they have posted ships as well.  Watching live a few days ago about 7:40am local time, Saw a Viking ship enter port. Assume ships stay off shore until close to docking time to save fees? Watching the live cam is addictive. Thanks to the NZ conservation dept for providing.

  7. You've found a great cruise forum to glean answers of what to expect by specific cruise line and ship. Check the editorial review for the Encore, https://www.cruisecritic.com/reviews/review.cfm?ShipID=1068   then the recent guest reviews for the ship, https://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/getreviews.cfm?action=ship&ShipID=1068   and the most recent for the same itinerary you are taking. And not all marketing fluff, but watch all those short video clips on the Seabourn website of the services they offer, the restaurants, etc.   There is even a general forum section for first time cruisers that may help too.  We have an upcoming Encore trip ourselves, first time on Seabourn...checking around all the sections of this forum helps a lot.

Dr Weil was on a recent cruise from Athens to Dubai.    There were guest speakers which were part of his team.  Presentations were made most days.  He did make several presentations.   I did not learn anything new just reenforcement.
there was a section in the breakfast area with his recommendations.   In addition the patio had a De Weil inspired lunch item.   Usually fish very good.
I believe some off the other menu items are Dr. Weil inspired.

Thank you for this detail. We are booked on the NZ/Australia "Wellness Cruise" next month.  I wondered if he was on board, giving talks himself on the special Wellness Cruises, or had an influence on menu specials. All sounds good to me.  https://www.seabourn.com/en_US/specialty-cruises/wellness.html

  9. Still watching the situation. One option considered, switching to earlier in spring next season, is not available. The first Encore Aus/NZ sailing is the holiday Dec 21 (not) then Jan 6 to mid March. Summer again and no guarantee of fewer fires. Seabourn has other great itineraries you might switch to, but this is the one we wanted/planned for many years. The US downgraded its travel alert back to Level 1. The air in Sydney is OK today where it was harzardous past two days  https://www.dpie.nsw.gov.au/air-quality  but Melbourne is "very poor". Also appears Blue Mountain Park reopened, but I have to think shore excursions in many places will be effected, even ash on the NZ glaciers.

Thank you so very much for posting this link.  We leave for Australia on the 18th and this will be a valuable resource.

The US State Dept increased its Australia Travel Advisory to Level Two.

You might check similar for Canada.

In the pm press conference last week he said”
Morrison said that the fires will burn for "many, many months ... unlike a flood, where the water will recede, in a fire like this, it goes on and it will continue to go on ... until we can get some decent rain."

Another source that the fires could continue into March and April is the US State Dept.
Australia Travel Advisory was Increased to Level Two.

  12. There are no fires in NZ at this time, but there has been smoke in Auckland. And other cities. A friend in Dunedin said they have had hazy smokey days and then It clears....situation changes with the wind. Photo on this thread. There are also articles and photos about the glaciers turning brown with ash, dust, easily found with a google search.
