Hi Lois... I’m confident you will enjoy Oceania.

As for solo traveler’s....all I can say is, I boarded the 180 day world cruise as a solo, but disembarked as a happily married man.  I met the love of my life at a solo party on the second day, and had our wedding on board two days before the cruise ended.

While I realize, that may not be what you are looking for, but to me, it just doesn’t get any better than that.😉🙂

Wow, congratulations. That's so cool! I wish you both the very best!  ❤️

  2. Don't believe they had any segments on the inaugural World Cruise. The 2 choices were Miami to London or L/A to London.

The 2019 WC (Maimi to London) has just had 5 segments posted.

The 2019/20 WC - 245 days London to London currently only has 2 segments - London to L/A & L/A to London.

We were on the first segment of the 2018 WC from Miami to LA. Maybe they weren't counting that as part of the WC...

  3. Hello all you World Cruisers!! We so enjoyed the first segment from Miami to LA. What a wonderful ship, a wonderful crew (Elvis, Gladys, Risto, Zsolt, Liselle, Miko - to name a few, lots of fun people, and the weather could not have been better. I am spoiled for any other cruise experience. I am reading all your posts and wishing so much we could be seeing all the things you will all be seeing. Keep those posts coming so we can "see" the sights too. Have fun. Take it all in. Happy travels!!!:D:ship:<3 As Heather et al were fond of saying, "be travelers, not tourists."

  4. Does anyone have experience bringing a CPAP machine on a Viking Ocean cruise? I've been able to google information for other cruise lines, but not Viking. The questions seem to be (1) is there any form to fill out in advance, or otherwise notify them, (2) can they supply distilled water, and (3) can you bring your own extension cord if it might be needed, or do they supply them?

    Thanks.

I do not think distilled water is available onboard. I have bought it throughout Europe and Scandinavia - sometimes in grocery store and sometimes in pharmacy (Green Cross) without difficulty

Richard2 ~ my husband uses a CPAP. I contacted Viking through the tellus email address and asked about distilled water. I got a very nice letter back telling me that a request was put through to have that in our cabin when we arrived. We won't be onboard until the 15th, so I won't know if my request was granted, but I have a feeling that it will be. So far, my few requests and inquiries have been handled quickly, efficiently, and to my satisfaction. So excited... only 11 more days!

  5. Linda,

Thanks for commenting on this. I looked again and mine says J also. I guess I didn’t look close enough. I’m on the Sun for Mia-LA.

I think I may need new glasses before the trip.

lol 👓 Really looking forward to this cruise. See you onboard.:ship:

  6. It depends on the date and ship. The December 15th cruise on the Sun is terminal #1

Bruce ~ We are embarking on the Sun on December 15th and my docs say Terminal J. Not sure if they are one and the same... ~ Linda

  7. There will be a lot of people who are doing the world cruise on board (and staying on board in LA). You might want to check out that roll call (as well as the one for Miami to LA) to see if you have any takers among the World Cruisers.

I'll do that, Peregrina. Actually, I forgot I wasn't already on that site. :o

  8. That policy is for paid excursions only. Included tours can be canceled at any time (except the two week window between advanced booking closing and boarding the ship.

You should be able to cancel any excursion on MVJ up to two weeks before departure (because that is when online booking closes). After that, except for paid excursions on the first couple of days, you can cancel on board up x-many hours in advance of the tour--and you can find out for sure how many hours that is when you board. It will be included in the info when you board with regular updates throughout the cruise.

As for included tours, if you haven't canceled on line, just turn your tickets in at the shorex desk on Deck 1, even for tours on Day 2 or 3.

So Peregrina... am I understanding that you can cancel non-included (paid for) excursions once you're onboard? Do they reimburse your card if you paid with a CC or OBC if you used that?

Thank you and all the others who have given out such great info. It is very much appreciated:D

  9. I have observed the same thing. I have been lurking on some of the luxury forums, thinking I might want to sail on one of their ships. I must say the forums are so "inside baseball" stuff among a smalll group of posters, or lots of complaining about the silliest things. And the forever dress thread, who is the CD or HD or whatever is mind numbing

Here on the Viking forum are a great group of newbie and experienced Viiking posters who are excited about sailing and ready to answer question with panache, facts, and good humor if needed.

I'm happy to agree with this. I've been on several forums and haven't posted a question because I was worried about the sarcastic "answers" I would receive. This newbie appreciates the info and kind concern I've been shown. Can't wait for our December cruise. New places, new people... Bring it on!
