  1. I will be doing a 15 day Celebrity cruise from Sydney with my husband, 70 year old mother in law, and my 7 and 4 year old kids. We will be stopping at Brisbane, Airlie Beach, Cairns, Darwin, Bali and ending in Singapore. My primary goal is to get my kids to see some fish at the Great Barrier Reef, but they are both new to snorkeling. Interested in any recommendations for this itinerary.

  2. I haven't been to the exploratorium in awhile, but I remember there being a lot of great lights, and exhibits that make sounds, or moving objects. It would be better for a slightly older toddler, but I still think that the 18 month old would still have fun.

I see you're going to Astoria, OR too. I highly recommend the Columbia Bar Pilot Museum there. And while you're in the area get fish and chips at the Bowpicker for lunch. They sell fresh caught fresh fried fish out of an old boat and they're only open until the fish from the day is gone. It's my husband's all time favorite meal.

  3. Downtown Seattle is pretty walkable and there is a bus system that services the area pretty well. The Space Needle, Pike Place Market, Aquarium, Sculpture Park and Music Experience are all cool places to explore and pretty close to each other.

San Francisco, presuming you'll dock in the Embarcadero area, there is a trolley that goes up and down the piers, from the Ferry building down to Fisherman's Wharf. Get the Uber app and you may also be able to get a ride with Uber Family, which offers carseats. There are also ferries leaving from Pier 1 out to Sausalito and other areas in the Bay.

  4. Hey everyone!

We leave on the Symphony of the Seas in a little over a month and I've been looking at the entertainment offered onboard. I keep seeing articles about a show called "Flight" onboard that my pilot husband is really excited about, but I can't find any details about it on the cruise planner? Would it be listed as something non-specific like Headliner, or is it not being offered on these early cruises?

  5. They are constantly changing due to different sales. However, the pricing is tricky and the discounts are based on "onboard prices" so lately even with the promotions they've been creeping up the closer we get to sail date. I've started keeping track and the drink package alone has gone up $7/day since we purchased in November. If you can I'd suggest buying them now and canceling and rebooking if you see a lower price.

  6. They make carriers that are smaller than hiking carriers but still meant to distribute the weight of a toddler. Check out Tula or Lillebaby toddler carriers. This is how I intend to carry our large almost 2 year old through Europe. Packs up small enough to shove in a backpack.

  7. We will be staying in Barcelona for 3 nights before our cruise and I'm a little stumped as to where in the city to stay. It will be 2 couples and 2 young kids, so I'm hoping for a suite/apartment with 2 queens and cribs. The areas that I've been looking for are Eixample, Sagrada Familia, Las Ramblas, and the Gothic Quarter. Because both kids would be in carseats, I'm hoping for something close to public transport or walking distance to at least some of the sights we'd like to see. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated!

  8. Hey all, I'm a first time cruiser. My parents gave my husband and I a gift certificate to use for our cruise. I redeemed it for OBC. After not seeing it in my cruise planner (like our promotional OBC was) I called RC. They said I can only use our non-promotional OBC once we step onboard. This seems really strange to me. Shouldn't all OBC be the same, especially if actual money has been paid for it? I can't use the $500 to plan out our trip in advance, I have to wait and hope prices don't increase astronomically once we're on board?

  9. @kitkat343 We're still trying to figure that out. We will be using the cruise line's excursion to Rome and possibly Naples/Pompeii, but otherwise I think we'll be using public transport/walking

@myacuna that's what I'm thinking. My husband is resistant to using the carrier exclusively, where as I think carrying would be easier overall. She can walk when she wants without it being a hassle.

  10. We will be traveling with a group of 5 adults, a 3yr and my almost 2 year old on the Symphony of the Seas in May. We're leaving from Barcelona to Palma de Mallorca, Marseille, La Spezia/Cinque Terre, Rome, and Naples. I'm trying to decide if we should bring our stroller (a B.O.B. Motion, so less than a jogger but more than an umbrella) and/or a toddler backpack carrier (Tula toddler carry-on). My daughter is regularly in the 90th+ %ile for weight and already weighs 28lbs, but I'm concerned about having to haul the stroller around and having it be nearly useless on possibly cobblestoned streets of Europe. At the same time, I don't particularly want her just walking around or having to carry her on our backs the whole time either.

Suggestions for anything else to do with cruising with young kids are welcome, as this is my first time cruising with or without kids.

    TIA, Meg
