    IMPORTANT UPDATE

    Dear Azamara Guest,

We hope this message finds you well. We are writing to inform you of important changes made to your upcoming Azamara Journey® cruise, scheduled for October 27, 2023, all of which have been made with your safety and well-being as our utmost priority.

Due to the recent Israel and Gaza Strip conflict, we have made the difficult but necessary decision to redeploy the Azamara Journey by removing all our ports of call in Israel. Your safety, along with the safety of our dedicated crew members, remains our number one concern.

While we deeply regret any inconvenience this change may cause, we want to reassure you that we are committed to providing you with an exceptional and safe travel experience. In place of the Israeli ports of call, we have secured alternatives in Sharm El Sheik, Egypt and Salalah, Oman, both of which are renowned for their rich cultural heritage, picturesque landscapes, and warm hospitality. We are confident that these new destinations will offer you a memorable and rewarding experience that aligns with the high standards you expect from Azamara Cruises.

We would also like to assure you that any shore excursions you may have booked with Azamara in Israel will also be fully refunded.

Again, we regret any inconvenience this situation may have caused you, and we sincerely hope that you will continue to choose Azamara Cruises for your future travel adventures. Should you have any questions or need guidance of what you can explore in any destination please contact your Travel Advisor or click here for your local Azamara call center number.

    Sincerely,

    AZAMARA®

You could also look at doing the overnight tour with another company. We did it a few years ago with YourEgyptTours. We stayed at the Steinberger (same hotel Azamara used). Our tour was much cheaper than Azamara’s tour with a similar itinerary. The only difference was dinner was not included, but the Steigenberger had a nice Italian restaurant that was reasonable.

We also paid extra to visit SETI’s tomb and totally agree that it’s well worth it as it’s just amazing. We also had the option to pay extra & go to the light and sound show at Karnak in the evening. We went and I loved it, but my DH definitely did not!

We had a great guide. We were in mini-buses rather than a larger bus, but they were fine.

Hi I have checked other companies and with Azamara prices for us are in AUD so was cheaper to book through the ship, just need a few more answers before we book which we are 99% sure we will .

Hi!  We did this last November.  Really enjoyed it.  Unfortunately, I did not keep our itinerary.  What we enjoyed the most was that we were at The Valley of the Kings when it opened.  It was basically our group in King Tut's tomb by ourselves.  The ticket that they give you entitles you to visit 3 tombs and Tut's tomb.  On the first day we asked our guide about buying the extra ticket to visit the tomb of Seti I.  She arranged it for us and it was, not only a fabulous tomb, but it was just the 4 of us in the tomb.  She had warned us that if we went to Seti I we probably would not have time for the other 3 tombs.  However, given that we were there at the opening, we had no problem visiting all of the tombs.

The only negative with the tour was that all of our meals were at the hotel and 2 lunches and the dinner were the exact same buffet.  A number of us did complain about this one aspect so, hopefully, they have changed that.

Happy to answer any other questions.

Thank you so much. Can you remember what you did on day one after lunch? our itinerary says ‘…check into hotel, sit down for a delicious lunch in preparation of the days exploration.’ It does not say where we will go. Assume it will be Karnak temple but it’s not clear. Mentions going to the light and sound show in the evening and then return to the hotel for dinner. Seems odd they would not mention what we would do in the afternoon.

  6. Would anyone have a detail itinerary for Luxor Overland Experience booked through the cruise.

Day one and day two I do have a brief itinerary but it’s not saying with Tombs etc

I have attached the itinerary if anybody has more details or last years information would be wonderful.

I have rang Azamara and they had the same information as me.

    cheers Karen

I am not sure. I was given the option to go into quarantine with her, so perhaps couples might go together. I don't know how many cabins they have set aside. On the World Cruise, some folks on 3 were relocated when they developed the COVID ward concept. The rooms are 3 forward and I believe all port side (even numbers).

Ahh thanks Garry for the info 😊

Ok.  It is clear to me what Viking are doing now with the Ship Board Credit and the FCC voucher.

Now that we have purchased / booked our excursions for our Homelands cruise, the invoices that are returned to us, show the use of credits that we had that can be used "Pre-Sailing" and the SBC that Viking issued for the change of itinerary, are still on account and can only be used on board the ship.

Viking do this because this SBC given for the change is only a credit if you board the ship.  You cannot spend it in advance, cancel, and then walk away with the value in a voucher.  Likewise, the 10% FCC is only awarded to you once you have sailed and completed the cruise.  These are "gifts" that are given if you continue with your booking, but you would lose them if you change or cancel.

We are going to use our ship credit on our drink package when we get on board.
We booked our shore excursion this morning 5am Aussie time 🙈

So our credit will be used as soon as we board !
We now need Viking to drop daily testing! Such a big risk 😡
