  1. We are researching for our upcoming October anniversary cruise. DH wants to snorkle. I'm not sure yet if I want to go with him or just relax on the beach. Either way, preference is to NOT snorkle from a boat out in the open water. We do have our own equipment, so no need for rental. It's hard to tell from all the comments on the boards if there is anywhere you can do this from Freeport other than Paradise Cove. We most definitely would prefer to be somewhere we we're not looking at industrial stuff! Lots of positives for Gold Rock Beach, but no one says whether they snorkeled there. I'm starting to wonder if it's just an issue that it's so shallow for so far out that it's a problem to do that most places? Any input/suggestions would be most appreciated!

Also curious about this. I will be there in November

  2. Hi, A Jersey Girl. I'm just off the Sky this morning as a solo. This was my 6th overall on the sky and 2nd solo. Did the 4 day so any questions ask away. Teambanzei is absolutely correct, tip your server, you won't regret it. Debbie

Hey I am curious if the open bar included champagne or champagne drinks, persecco or sparkling wine, mimosas kinda thing.

  3. In Freeport, I suggest to rent a car (they are inexpensive for the day) and drive around Grand Bahama Island at your leisure. There are a number of national parks, one being Lucayan National Park; it is very interesting, as it has one of the longest underwater cave systems in the world. Gold Rock Beach is simply amazing ... it's very pristine and void of the tourist crowds.

This sounds incredible. thanks so much

  4. I'll report back, I am in Nassau on Wed and Im on a budget as well. We might just go to Junkanoo if the beach is decent enough. 30.00 for two chairs and umbrellas and drinks is not a bad deal

I was super into that, I think its what im leaning towards. Have fun! I cant wait to hear how it went! :D

  5. Thanks so much! I think we are staying away from all inclusive resorts. I have stayed at so many resorts, (over 100 trips and Im only 25). While I do love love love resorts I think once you've seen one you've seen them all. Thanks for the tips tho! I think I might end up bringing my own snorkel gear for sure

  6. Mrs Gut needs to follow a vegetarian diet, actually tries to stick to vegan, for health reasons.

She has NEVER had a problem on any line. In fact she would rather be eating on a ship than eating out at home. Even when she hasn’t pre notified her dietary requirements. On the rare occasion that the menu doesn’t have an option that takes her fancy a quick chat wit( our waiter gets her something she is happy with. She has never even ordered the night before just goes with the standard menu or asks for something to suit her requirements and tastes.

The big secret is don’t be afraid to ask.

Thanks so much! Sounds like I'll be having a lot of fun talks with the waiter since my boyfriend never likes asking any questions haha. I appreciate your help!

  7. Before cruising, email NCL Access Desk to let them know and also search online to see what restaurants offer vegetarian food like this site: happycow.net/ north_america/bahamas/nassau/ and check on trip advisor

Thanks so much! This is super helpful!

  8. My boyfriend and I will be in the Bahamas next month with the NCL Sky. We both are working toward buying a house and are trying to keep a decent budget. While looking at a lot of the Excursions we find them to be very pricey and we arnt sure that we want to spend that much money. The two islands we will be seeing aside from NCL's private island are Grand Bahama Island and Nassau. We were wondering if any one has some budget friendly alternatives to these excursions. I have seen a few walking tour suggestions that we are willing to try but we would also love to hear any other recommendations and suggestions. Ideally we would like each activity to cost less than $50 if possible. The more affordable the better, but we are okay with spending a little more for a unique experience. We also would love to hear about any DIY excursions, like has any one brought their own snorkel gear and snorkeled on their own instead of shelling out $50-100 bucks to a company?

A little about me - i love food and drinks. I am a history nerd. I also love scenic areas or anything thats just nice to look at.

Boyfriend- Vegetarian who doesn't drink. Loves adventure and wildlife. Admires sightseeing and unique experiences. Loves being out on the water.

The suggestions dont have to cater to our interest because we both love trying new things and stepping out of our comfort zone.:D

  9. Hey everyone, I am headed to the Bahamas on the sky 11/20 and it will be my first cruise. I will be cruising with my boyfriend and hes a vegetarian. I would love to hear from fellow vegetarians on tips or suggestions for eating both on the ship and the Bahamas. He is very nervous about not having enough V friendly options off the ship.
