Just some general considerations we use when making such decisions:

1. Is it a tender port? If so we usually use a ship's tour.

2. Does the ship offer the places you want to see together in one tour ?--if so it may not be possible in the time you have in port.

3. Do you have a reliable independent tour company in mind?

Thanks for your advice - I have checked and it is a tender port so I will book the ship's tour.

I am arriving in February aboard Norwegian Star - should I do the cruise tour or one independently. On the cruise tours you spend half the time grouping together and counting heads. I want to visit the volcano, masaya market and Grenada.

Can anyone recommend a reputable tour company - I am interested in visiting volcano, masaya market and Grenada but do not wish to take NCL tour
