Princess gave me my first ever upgrade on our upcoming cruise. Same thing. Received a email stating we had been upgraded from our balcony cabin to a mini-suite one deck down and further aft. I contacted Princess directly to confirm everything. We are very, very happy with the upgrade can't wait for the next 3 weeks to pass.

I would imagine it depends on length of time in port, duration of tours etc. When I do sleep-in I'm still up by 6 am. I admit, a nice afternoon nap is a wonderful vacation luxury.

Halloween falls during our upcoming cruise too. Hadn't really given it much thought until now. One nice thing....we live right down the street from the school. Last year I actually counted. We had a little over 1,000 trick or treaters at our house. Won't be missing that...lol.

I still owe a bit and we received our upgrade.Do these upgrade emails only occur after you have made final payment? and is this image you showed on this thread the actual email or when you logged into Carnival? Just curious! -
We've been on a few cruises but until now had never been involved in "upgrades". I'd heard of them of course but just booked a cabin, cruised and went home. Wasn't really sure what it meant but for our upcoming cruise, I booked a balcony cabin and clicked the "optional upgrade" box or something like that. A few weeks ago I received a email stating we had been upgraded and I had X number of days to decline if we didn't want to move. I called and asked what that was about. Turns out for the same original rate, they moved us to a "mini-suite". Bigger cabin with a tub instead of a shower. and a sitting area with a sofa. Two decks lower but fine by me. Is this something common or did we just get lucky? Is this what they mean by upgrade fairy?

What an interesting thread. I once met an older gentleman up in the Suites Lounge on Oasis. His work included development of the SPF scale for sunscreen. His name escapes me. Argh!
Was his name "Sonny"? ....I'm sorry. That one was too easy LOL

My moment is the exact second I hear the "boing" noise when I insert my seapass/ID card into the little slot.

Before our first cruise, my parents gave us the following advice. "When you get to port, pay attention to the where the majority of tourists go and then head in the opposite direction" Not sure all locales would be the safest but not bad advice. Seems like you get a "real" flavor for the area and not so touristy.

That's one of my favorite things about cruising. Find a dark spot up on deck (at night of course) and looking out at pure darkness until your eyes adjust and enjoying the stars. Something so relaxing about that.

My first thing? Slide in my card, hear that WONDERFUL "boing" noise and then grin like goober for the next week!

We were in Rome on RCCL shore excursion. The bus driver got lost and we were almost 2hrs late getting back. The ship actually waited for us. The split second we got onboard the ship pulled away. Thank goodness it was not a self done excursion. Would have been a total nightmare.

I sure wish more people would use the "be civil" frame of mind. I'm in customer service in the repair/maint section of a automotive dealership. I admit if someone starts off nasty and/or rude, my desire to actually resolve the concern actually drops right off the scale. Sure, let them vent, get to the root of the concern and help find a resolution. A little politeness will go a loooooong way.

So far we've only sailed with Royal Caribbean (trying Princess this fall) but for dinner we always use MDR. I've been a vegetarian 25-30 years now and never stray. I just live with a pasta dish and salad each night. Never been a problem. Drives my wife nuts, but I always manage to drop about 5 pounds or so each cruise.

Football.......that's the brown one that's kinda pointy on two ends, right? Lol. My son-in-law still doesn't believe I've never actually watched a SB. All I know is that it's the perfect time to hit Lowe's or the supermarket etc. Everyone is home.

The wife and I were at a Crown & Anchor meet the captain function. Formal night, everyone dressed nice, free drinks etc. Upscale event. We were seated in a lounge type area with two other couples making small talk. There were hors devours and one of the men had been eating crabcake or something like that. He took a bite and returned his plate to the coffeetable. One of the ladies (total stranger to the man) says "you aint gonna finish that? I love those" and proceeds to grab it and finish eating it. It was gross at the time, but we still laugh about it years later.
Sugar-Free items
in Princess Cruises
Posted
Type II diabetic here. We will be sailing on the Grand Princess in a couple of weeks. Just curious if anyone knows how the sugar-free choices are? I'm talking beyond desserts . I means things like S/F syrup for breakfast, jellies etc... I'm very good about my sugar intake and A1C count and want to stay on track. Silly question, but thanks in advance.
