Hello,
Can I hang a white board on my stateroom door? I'm going to glue magnets on the back. I'm assuming that the doors are made of metal. Does RCCL allow this? We are going with 2 other couples and we want to leave them messages about where we are.

Thanks everyone for responding! Greatly appreciate the info!

I don't understand. YOU can get bottled water in the Diamond Lounge every night and squirrel it away in your cabin. Why do you bother to bring any on board with you?
Cool!
This might be a silly question, but can anyone over the age of 18 go into the Diamond Lounge? I think you have to be a C&A member, correct? I signed up for C&A, but this is my first cruise, so I don't think I am entitled to any perks. Does that matter?
-
How much was the 12 pack? Where did you purchase it from?
-
Thanks! I just checked and they were there!
-
Do they sales on surf during the cruise? I think I saw somewhere that they usually run a special on the last full day?
Can you purchase a couple of days before the cruise, or do you have to purchase the whole week?
-
Awesome! Thanks!!!
By the way, I want to say that CC is really really awesome! I'm on a lot of different forums for a lot of different subjects, and CC people are by far the quickest and most helpful to respond.

Hi,
I saw in a few places that you can print your luggage tags 48 days before leaving on your cruise, but I can't find where. Can someone point to the correct place?
-
I'm planing to get a case of water and put a luggage tag on it and hope for the best.
My wife has to drink Mountain Dew or she get's migraines, so I asked and received a medical waiver from RCL.

Can you get free regular coffee, in the cafe on the promenade deck?
-
Can you purchase internet access for 1 or 2 days? What is the cost of the lowest cost internet?
-
I think would work if enough people used it. Because it works like a mesh network it can bounce a message from one device to another. I would think it would work with as little as 100-200 spread around the ship. I think you just need to spread the word so that everyone loads it up on their phones. It works on both iOS and Android and it's free. You just need to sign up before the cruise.

Last Luggage Valet flyer I saw said Southwest between 11:30am and 6:00pm.
Thanks! I just sent a message to RCC to confirm.

If you're on Southwest, the latest flight you can use is 6pm.
So if your flight is on Southwest and it leaves at 6:00 PM you can use the service?

We need to kill sometime after we disembark our ship and catch a late flight home. We are leaving Port Everglades. Can we get a rental car at the port, or do we need to take a taxi or Uber to a car rental place to get one?
In the FAQ, there was mention of a service where you can leave your luggage outside your door the night before and it will be taken and put on your plane. Does that still exist? Is there a link to a website to set that up?

Thanks everyone for posting information! I think we will leave by 10:00 AM and try an UberXL and if we can't get one, we will call a taxi.
-
How early should we leave our hotel?? I think boarding starts at noon, so I was thinking of leaving at 11:00. Should at leave earlier than that?

I'm going to be on Indy on January.
Can I just get the surf package, or do I have to get surf and stream?
-
Does the internet package drop in price as you get closer to the cruise date? It's currently priced at $14.95, did get any cheaper than that? Is it worth the cost? Is it fast?

This actually happened to me last summer (2016). We were only a 5 minute ride to the port and the first two UberXLs canceled on me (one stating he got lost)..... I was starting to get a little miffed but the third guy was great and showed up with in a minute or two of placing the order. We still beat the first shuttle out of the hotel parking lot. Also - not sure it has been mentioned - If you sign up for the hotel shuttle you are not guaranteed a spot on the first bus. The Hampton Inn we stayed at probably had close to 200 people trying to get on the shuttle with lots of luggage. The Lobby area was packed. I want to say the bus was around a 30 passenger with trailer for luggage but not sure of the actual capacity. If getting to the port early is important to you then keep that in mind.
Wow! Good to know! Thanks!!!!!!
Our ship leaves on a Monday in January. I'm thinking that there will be less crowds then? This is my first cruise, so I'm a bit clueless :)

You’re not gonna fit 6 people and 6 suitcases in one vehicle IMO

It might work with an UberXL. Alternatively, I could just get 2 Ubers

I think I will go with the UberXL. I also have Lyft, so I can do that as a backup.
Thanks to everyone who replied! This is my first post on CC and I'm overwhelmed at how quickly people responded!!!

My concern with the Uber is that since it's such a short ride that no Uber driver will want the fare?

We fly into FLL they day before our cruise and we are staying in a local hotel. Just wondering what is the best way to get from the hotel to Port Everglades for 6 people. There's a shuttle for $10 a person, but I was thinking an UberXL would be much cheaper. Has anyone else gone this route?

Just got back from our first cruise and it was great! Thanks to everyone who posted. This thread helped a lot. Here are my 5:
1. OnRCL surf package only $31 for the week - I wish I had set that up for 2 phonesso that it would be easier to communicate with my wife while on board. As of Jan 2018, RCL has 2 speeds, surf andstream. I found surf fine for sending /receiving email and Facebook messages.
2. Technologychanges - so what someone said in 2010, may not apply to 2018. For example, internet speeds will most likelyimprove
3. Insidecabins aren't bad. Sure a balcony isgreat, but it's not additional $1200 great.
4. Lots of good tips and advice, but at the end of the day you need to analyze how you work and go with the tips that fit your needs.
5. Ithought the food in MDR on RCL was really good. Buffet was good for breakfast (hard to make bad breakfast food)
