They changed how it looks in February

  2. I got off the regal princess on Sunday. We got an email talking about all the entertainment we can expect and it mentioned that white and gold night would be on the second formal night. Then when we got on the ship they actually changed the second formal night to “dress to impress” and there was no mention of white and gold night. I think maybe this thing is winding down and they haven’t updated the promotional emails yet. I still saw a dozen or so people dressed in white or gold.

So we did a day pass at the Marriott which had a great pool and nice beach but no one allowed in the ocean because of crocks, stingrays and octopus. I didn't see any but there was one crock attack in August. It was a bummer.

I’m very interested in doing this day pass too. Did you book in advance or just go down there? Do you remember the cost and inclusions? Thanks in advance

  4. On the regal princess I ordered a glass of wine and the waitress also brought a little plate with an assortment of cheeses. The international cafe is very close if you prefer something more substantial

How do I know which cruises the casino offer is accepted on?  I called Princess and she was less than helpful.  How might I find this out so I can look around myself?  Is there a way to search this?  A list?  Many many thanks in advance,

Every time we get a flyer in the mail, it will either have the cruises mentioned. Or there will be a QR code that brings you to a website with all of them. Each flyer has a campaign code. And the code goes with that specific offer. I’ve noticed the cruises being offered on the different flyers are not always exactly the same.

  6. I’ve heard about people losing their medallion and going to guest services and the issue a new one that even has the name engraved. They could probably do it if you ask. They probably have a way to change the name as it displays too because there was a privacy discussion a few days ago and people travelling solo were saying they could have their name not displayed on the door sign if they asked. I almost think this is a serious enough request that it would be worthwhile to email or call in advance.

I have booked a 10 day Princess cruise over Xmas. The rate for a balcony was $2500 CDN per person. I asked if I qualified for a casino rate from my last cruise 3 years ago (14 day cruise), to my surprise I qualified. Rate came down to $1240 CDN pp. for a balcony.

My wife does not gamble and on my previous 14 day cruise I have no idea how many points I acquired but I know for a fact I did not lose more than $300 US over the 14 days. I played penny slots and $6to $10 bets on blackjack. I play basic strategy and although bj only pays 6to5 instead of 3 to 2, the house edge is approx 4 to 5%. The savings on this cruise ( approx.$2500 CDN) are significant for the amount I play.

The only problem is that we have teenage kids and they are getting too big to stay in the same room as us. The cost for an inside room across the hall from our balcony is basically the same price as our balcony.$1170 CDN pp.

If my wife had qualified for the casino rate it would have been approx $770 CDN per person for the inside room for the kids by us each booking a room with one child in each room. ( In name only)

I think if you limit the amount you bet, play smart, you can definitely take advantage of special casino discounts on cruises.

I agree with this. And another thing to add is that points are earned by coin in. Not necessarily how much you lose. If you are playing for a long period of time and winning and losing your own money back all night it’s very possible for you to not be down at all but still managed to rack up a lot of points. This happened to us in Las Vegas. They let you log into your member account online and see what your coin in was. I knew for sure we were only down $137. But when I read our play report it told me that over the course of our trip our coin in was over $5000. My husband and I have this strategy when we play where we cash out and then only play with our winnings. And when you do that you do a lot less damage to your budget.

LOVE my Apple Airtags.  What I like is knowing the luggage is in the terminal when I go down to claim it.  If it isn't (hasn't happened yet), then the app will locate it for me, and I can head to the airline's baggage customer service office.

For instance, the first time I used it, my iphone told me it was .1 mile away in the terminal where I was standing at the baggage carousal.  Just waited until it came by.  Peace of mind.

They are also great for finding your car in a huge parking lot, finding your purse or car keys.  Sometimes in between trips I will use it for this.  I just wish I could use it on my phone.  I'm forever putting it down someplace odd at home.

Someone should invent a "clapper" app for phones, like the lamps that turn on and off when you clap..........

I have this. I put smart bulbs in my living room. And I have a smart plug for the fish tank and the Christmas tree. I have a Google nest but they work with other assistants. And I just say Google turn on the lights. Or Google turn on the fish tank etc. I’m thinking about getting some for my mom for Christmas because she always gets excited when Google does stuff. I also like when I’m cooking I can ask Google how many grams are in a tablespoon of butter or whatever, especially when I have cookie dough all over my hands and don’t want to look something up.

My DW gets her Eggs Benedict, juice, fruit and coffee with 2 creams on request.   Always great service when she is on a cruise.  I'm a lot slower at delivery at home.  Always out of fruit and hollandaise takes a while to make.

I wish my spouse knew how to make hollandaise 🤣

Maybe so, Don.  But I'm a happy cruiser and it works for me.

I don't see it as stealing and I don't ask the server and bartender to do anything extra - it's their choice.  A ready smile and a bit if chit chat helps - especially with some of the rude to and/or entitled people they have to deal witb.

Bars keep track of the amount of alcohol in bottles just as seriously as retail operations keep track of cash in the register drawer. Everything is rung in. And inventories are taken on a regular basis. I’ve watched managers using a dipstick type device to measure the millilitres of liquid in the alcohol bottles.
