I was told "No" to long haul cruises but I think you can for the The Med etc, I was turned away with my cases the night before my Barbados cruise at BHX

I survived on free Wifi on the islands. I kept my mobile data turned off for the whole week. Calls made using the ships cellular network were expensive and my network provider didn't do any packages for any of the islands we visited. I know some UK phone users were allowed unlimited data and calls for £5 per day. In hindsight I probably would have purchased a weeks ship WiFi. I like to look on trip advisor etc and I I didnt have that luxury.

Went there on Wednesday. It's a mess. We got straight back on the boat. Pointless going there. Attempted ferry to Gorda based on times given to us by tourist office but ferry was cancelled. St Marteen was OK. Loads of devastation but we managed a boat trip around island and to mullet bay.

I'm not too sure. The same person has since posted it cruise critic under the tortola port category.

We're checking, godrecognisegods. I was told the first ship would be calling on December 4 and that it would be Tui, but Marella is part of Tui...so checking.
Carolyn
Thanks Carolyn. We are scheduled to get there on the 5th of December not the 3rd (my mistake). You reckon the 4th but that's probably our ship arriving early. What will it be like there? Any ideas?

Hi, all. A preliminary update: Have been in Miami meeting with cruise line execs on various and sundry topics, and several, from different cruise lines, have told me that St. Maarten is about 30 days from being ready to receive the big ships. There's still lots of clean-up.
The cruise I'm taking out of St. Martin on Sunday -- a handful of the small ship lines, like Windstar, SeaDream, etc., have traditionally done turnarounds on the French side because the ships are so small -- is Crystal Esprit. Most folks are not doing pre- and post because the hotels are nowhere near being back. But I'm going in a day early, and touring, so will report back....
Carolyn
Hi Carolyn,
Would it be fair to say that the Marella Discovery will not be stopping at St Maarten on the 3rd of December?
Thanks
Don't book with Marella - unless you have very low standards

I was impressed with my 1st cruise on the TUI Discovery in December. Staff couldn't do enough for you and food, drink and entertainment were all excellent. I don't recall any bad manners and lots of guests were very well dressed in the evenings. As a comparison, if you took the guests on our ship and put them into a John Lewis store for the day they would fit in quite nicely
