As are Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Azamara and a few more owned by another company.

add Cunard to your Carnival Corp list too.

they do it to be able to offer different styles of cruising to different demographics.

Thanks, and I couldn't agree more, they are just trying to cover all of the demographics. Sounds like a sound business plan.

We are booked on a TA cruise in March 2019 and looking at insurance options.  Not sure whether I need it because of the following:

    1.  Paying for the entire cruise with our Costco Visa card which has some travel insurance in the event we have to cancel for illness, etc prior to cruise.

    2.  Once on the ship, I'll have Tricare Select (the old Standard).  Granted I may have to pay upfront but can file a claim once I get back off the cruise for medical treatment on the ship if needed.

    3.  Also, once at our destination in Europe, then I can still use same process as #2

    4.  In addition, we have a Tricare supplement policy, for anything that Tricare doesn't cover i.e Tricare only covers 75% so our supplement covers the remaining 25%).

Opinions?  Just trying to figure out whether we actually need the additional travel insurance.  Granted it isn't a huge amount, but less I pay for insurance is more for us to spend on board.

    Thanks in advance.

Jay, you are correct in all of the above.  I might suggest a good Travel Credit Card as most have evac benefits if required.

  3. I have only done one (1) Carnival Cruise, a short one with my son. So take this post with a grain of salt. It was fine with the exception that I felt like I was the designated chaperone:cool:.

Carnival demographics seems to be targeted towards a younger age group and/or families. I did a Princess 5 night and had a totally different experience. I sure my experience with carnival would have been different had it been a longer cruise. As it stands now, Princess would do again, not sure about Carnival.

For anyone who cares... My girlfriend and I (56/63) respectfully, enjoy traditional dining with 8 people we don't know. We both like meeting new people. Looking at a 3-4 week Med Cruise in 2018.

  4. Morning all!

I never mind being a "senior citizen" (56) but I sure hate being CALLED one! Isn't there some other, more accurate and complimentary "title" for us? I don't know about all of you, but I'm still very active, very healthy and very far from a rocking chair!

    Cindy,

I have always liked 'Age Challenged'
