Hi all. Sailing on the Oasis on 9/19. We will be in a suite so we decided against purchasing drink packages since we will have access to the Suites lounge for happy hour. As diamond tier members I understand that we will be given 4 drinks daily each at any bar of our choosing. Does anyone know if they are actual paper vouchers provided daily or are they drinks loaded onto your card?  Im not much of a drinker so it seems easier for me to give mine to my hubby if they are actual paper vouchers. Thanks

Not paper vouchers. They are on your card.

Hi don't have any concerns at all….. we are also on 15th as others have said they are… reality is it’s totally personal choice what anyone wears on any evening of the cruise…. Our personal choice is we really like getting very dressed up so I’ll be taking the tux…. Matters not a jot to me or DW whether others do the same or choose to dress more casually…. We are all on vacation and trying to enjoy ourselves in our own way…..

In contrast we’ve done Norwegian many times and always dress up ‘elegantly’ for a few nights and never felt uncomfortable in any way.

That said as I called out an obnoxious poster in another post who was slagging off people who dress up as being idiots… it’s not a badge of honour and pride to dress like a slob and slag others off for not doing the same….

just do your thing and enjoy it!

We are on the 7th and I am taking cocktail wear for formal evenings. Haven't had the chance for 18 months to dress up.

Anthem is becoming more popular in NJ, but they have brought in Adventure for the Summer seasons which suggests that they were trying to have an additional option for those in the area that didn't like Quantum Class.

Brits are quite stubborn and can sometimes be picky (I'm speaking as a Brit who has both of those traits) so I'm still not convinced that she will be successful.

I am a Brit, actually a Scot, and enjoy a variety of ships. If you have not tried other ships how  can  you decide that Indy is best.

Brexit should not affect tourists from other countries any more than tourists travelling to USA.

  4. According to all the info I've read, Sabor is a Mexican restaurant. My DH has read somewhere that on sailings from the UK it serves Indian food. Is this correct? I don't really trust him or his sources! Any information on what is happening at the moment will be greatly appreciated!

At this moment on Navigator it is not an Indian but a Tapas restaurant.

  5. I love dressing up. I wear formal dresses and husband wears a tux. Last cruise was In Europe. A higher percentage of people in European cruises dress formally. Our next cruise is a 4 nighter to Bahamas it is exactly the opposite. Last time on this cruise nobody wore a tux. This time a will wear a short cocktail frock and no tux for hubby. Easier to pack flying from UK

  6. We have just got off the ship, we visited diamond lounge most nights, but have not got a clue who the diamond concierge was !!! A complete non entity as far as we were concerned, never saw or spoke to whoever it was.

The severs in the lounge were great though.

Sent from my iPad using Forums

We were on NOS a few weeks ago and there was no concierge in diamond lounge. However ,the Loyalty Embassador, Ruby, was there doing a great job.

  7. I don't know how to characterize "many", but I see a variety of attire, with some wearing formal clothes.

Approx 5 years ago my husband wore a tux and I wore a full length dress on a 4 nighter. We seemed to be the only ones!!!

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy formal wear. Just returned from 14 night Mediterranean cruise where we had 3 formals and wore full length and cocktail wear and my husband wore tux. Just wondered if it was worth bringing it this time.

  8. We've sailed on RC a few times and thoroughly enjoyed the experience except for the heavy smoke in the casinos. We're trying Celebrity this March solely because the casino (and most of the ship) is smoke free. Someone recently on FOS told me he'd been told RC is considering going smoke free in its casinos. Has anyone else heard this?

Just off Navigator and the Casino is completely non-smoking!!!

    What a difference this makes.

It was a European cruise, not sure if that makes a difference

  9. Tower of London - Crown Jewels, St Paul's, Westminster Abbey and Westminster Cathedral, Harrods, Buckingham Palace, the War Rooms, London Eye, Museums and galleries, Borough Market, go to a show in the west end, Covent Gardens, Kew Gardens, London Zoo, shopping, Houses of Parliament, Thames cruise, Globe Theatre, Downing Street, afternoon tea at one of the big hotels.

Afternnoon Tea at the Ritz or Claridges is iconic. However you would need to book approx 90 days in advance!!

  10. This!! People often talk about "trip insurance" with no real concept of what it covers, when the truth is, it can be as limited or as comprehensive as you need it to be, and the cost can vary considerably based on what's covered. So what are you trying to cover..... trip cancellation or trip interruption costs? Lost or delayed baggage? Out-of-network medical coverage? Medical evacuation?

Whatever you're trying to cover, there are lots of details to consider before purchasing a policy....

Trip cancellation or interruption? Consider the refund policy for your airline, cruise line, hotel etc. You might not be out as much as you think you would be. Or if you travel a lot, it might make sense not to worry about this aspect of it; for us, not purchasing trip cancellation/interruption insurance for every trip (many per year) we have more than made up for the occasional time we might incur non-refundable expenses for having to cancel/change plans midway.

Lost or delayed baggage? Your airline may cover some portion of of purchasing what you need in the interim. Credit cards that were used to purchase the trip also may have some coverage here. And like above, if you travel often, in the rare even you have a lost bag claim, you may come out ahead by self-insuring.

Out-of-network medical care? Check your existing policy to see what might be covered. Research the countries you're visiting to see how medical care for visitors is covered. I've known people who were unexpectedly hospitalized in another country and their bills were largely or fully covered by that country's healthcare system. Personally, I recently returned from a domestic trip during which I was injured and needed surgery out of state, and thus, out-of-network for which I technically have no coverage. The total bill is currently around $75k. But because I was admitted through the ER, my insurance company has agreed to reimburse the costs at in-network rates. Also, as someone mentioned, most policies have pre-existing condition clauses that need to be examined.

Medical evacuation? This may or may not be covered by a standard travel medical policy. If it is, find out the details....who decides if you can come home, or go elsewhere, for further treatment or have to stay where you are? (You? The insurance company? The hospital where you are first seen?) Is there a limit to the amount that will be covered? What kind of transport is covered? For many medical policies, the choice of whether to be evacuated or not is not up to you, and you could find yourself being treated in what you might consider a sub-standard facility and have no say in the matter. MedJet Assist on the other hand, lets YOU make the decision to be evacuated AND to specify where you want to go. But you have to be admitted to a hospital first, so they won't cover evacuation directly from a ship. Lots to consider here!

Take care when you take out Travel Insurance that it covers cruises. Many need extra cover for cruises to cover perhaps being airlifted off ship or a return to port etc.

  11. Ever notice that you are in an ever-shrinking minority. Shorts are in. Gowns and tuxes, not so much.

Depends where you go. I too enjoy wearing shorts and tees but prefer to wear a dress in the evening. Does that matter that you feel I am in the minority. Some people do not want to be like the rest.:champagne-toast:
