  1. Wife and I went to Steakhouse on 1st cruise 10 years ago...on Liberty. Everything was great...service, food etc.

If it is the same now, go there very hungry. My wife is a lite eater....I can put down a lot of food. Got through main courses which were generous and time for desert. My wife passed and I thought I could put down a slice of cheesecake..small slice.

While waiting, saw waiter bring cheesecake to next table. OMG! It was huge! Looked like it could easily feed 4. Wife and my mouths dropped. Hoped they ordered extra sized slice. Nope...we got ours and same size. Wife had couple of bites i had a few...still leaving half/ Don't like to waste food...we took it back to room and them to put ice in carry out...3 hours later finished

  2. My parents generation found it disrespectful for a black person to sit at the front of a bus or drink out of the wrong water fountain. I gave up caring about what my parents generation considered "respect" long ago.

What someone else does that has no actual impact on you should not upset you or be considered as "rude" to you. Some guy sitting on the other side of a room eating food with a hat on who has no idea of your existence only impacts you because you want to force your own code of conduct on them, which is rude.

Changing a dipper on a dining room table is rude. The smell and sight can make someone physically ill. Not to mention the health issues.

Kids running around uncontrolled screaming is rude. It affects your ability to have a conversation.

A guy peeing on deck, gross among many other things

Smeering poop in bathroom, I don't even need to say why it's rude

People smoking in non-smoking sections, you smell it, if affects you. There is nothing you can do to stop it.

People having sex in hot tubs, rude and unhygienic, not to mention the fact that water makes a horrible lube.

Those are all things that can affect you.

I also find the fact that you bring up a Bible verse as being justification rude. Like, because it's in the Bible we should do it? Trying to push your Judeo-Christian values on someone else is rude. We live in a society of people who are of many religions and should feel free to exercise their beliefs without people judging them based on their own religious beliefs.

I love this! I am 100% agreement on your response and your way of saying this is epic!

  3. Already posted question on different thread and my wife and I carrying roll your own cigs in hard cases (10 each for us) in zip lock. TSA said it would be OK on plane.

Does anybody know if Oasis of Seas would have issue with us bringing on board? On previous cruises on Carnival no problem with bringing bought cartons.

FYI....the tobacco used to make the cigs are of the legal type.

  4. I'm assuming that you are referring to taking this in your carry on for your flight, not the ship. In my experiences, if you think it would cause a problem, maybe you should just stick to the manufactured kind and substance unlabeled in a baggie would send up a red flag with TSA and could cause you LOTS of problems, which you say unnecessary, but, to them nothing goes by them....and COULD send you right to jail until you prove your innocence

We are planning on taking on this flight...to eventually take on the ship. We haven't done the manufacture kind for a while as those have more 'stuff' in it (as if smoking is good for us:D) and ours is much cheaper.

Guess the rest of your response not exactly sure how to respond.....would it be better to put cigs in checked in bag?

  5. My wife and I roll our own cigarettes and will each have 10 packs in hard cases (from tobacco outlet where we get tobacco and tubes) in a big zip lock bag. My wife wants to bring on carry-on...I had planned on doing the same. Now she had contacted TSA and they said just take bag out of carry-on when going through screening like we would with laptop. Even though they said that, do you think there would be any delays where agents might wonder if the tubes are filled with weed etc. instead. Not potheads/dealers, just enjoy paying 15 a carton instead of 80

Also I'm bringing $600 in cash in carry-on (for tips on cruise - 100 in 1s & 100 in 5s & rest in 20s for casino and where we can't pay with credit card). With this and the above, thinking that it might create more suspicion.

Going on Royal Oasis of Seas and wondering if they might have problem.

Am I being paranoid or could this delay us getting to our flight-on ship?

  6. We're renting car from Enterprise...how close is rental car lines from baggage claim? Could have wife watch for bags but not sure how comfortable she'll be watching alone for 2 pieces of luggage and keeping eye on 2 carry-ons. Guessing if we do this, I'd take both carryons with me to car rental then she'd only have to watch for luggage coming off belt

  7. Has anyone ever met with 'Tommy' on Carnival Liberty? He was a bartender, I believe Phillipino, glasses and slicked back hair. Reason I ask is my wife and I are going on cruise in near future...now and in the past we always talk about memorable times on our cruises and Tommy always comes up from our Liberty cruises in 2007 & 2010. He was a blast to hang out with....a lot of fun.

Huge thing that on our 2010 cruise.... we met up with Tommy again and were floored that he remembered our names from 3 years back!

We always remember crew members that were memorable. Tommy was only one by name. Others were great but remember only by face etc....always tipped them good.

  8. My take on dress code....Wife and I are doing our 1st cruise on RC after 3 on Carnival. Sounds like dress code restrictions have generally relaxed quite a bit since our last. We will dress suggested attire as that is our preference...Non formal casual and then dress up on formal nights (suit/tie, dress..not on the same person:)). Like the formal dress to get nice pictures to take home in addition to very casual pics.

That is our preference and others have the right to wear whatever they want (especially in MDR that they paid for). However, I would cringe if i saw a couple coming into dining room wearing string bikini/banana hammock. Although extreme, just have to have some common sense even though you're paying a lot for the cruise. Wear what you want but don't do so where others rights are infringed to their cruise where some take offense....my wife and I wouldn't on most but know others may.

  9. The people who called to get one beverage package and a refreshment package for their significant other, how much did you end up paying for the deluxe package?

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

We called, got 1 deluxe as a package with Voom....$55 per day (actual original deluxe package). Got refreshment for $26 per day. Few days later, saw that refreshment package went down to $18 online. Booked that and then cancelled original at $26. Everything looks good when boarding the Oasis of Seas.

  10. I had called to get the deluxe for myself and refreshment for my wife (she doesn't drink much). Mission accomplished. Being the 1st of my cruises on RC, I was quite impressed with the support person I talked with. Got myself the deluxe, my wife the refreshment package along with the discounts that were online and they helped with excursion(s) that were cancelled. Thought all of this would have taken at least .5 hour. Only took 10 minutes!!

  11. We are going on cruise in January on Oasis to Labadee, Jamaica & Cozomel. we originally booked 3 excursions in July. One got cancelled in September for operational reasons ...we booked another excursion, In early October another excursion (adult island )was cancelled for something like lack of interest. Really 3 months before cruise!! When calling RCL on different thing I asked about this last one...they said something about change in supplier. They said it is now back open and we could rebook.

  12. I'd be very surprised if they made someone buy a drink package once onboard. However, I could see them cancelling someone's package pre-cruise and making them repurchse for two. I don't think that would happen, but I could see them doing it.

If they cancel our pre-cruise package and made us both do deluxe, I would be pissed...to the point where this would be our last RC cruise (it is our 1st) and go back to Carnival where we did our first 3 cruises with.

  13. My wife and I are going on a cruise end of January. Went online in November to purchase deluxe for me and refreshment for wife as she doesn't drink. Found that when trying to order, we could only get deluxe for both. I called RC and they were able to get me the deluxe only ( with Voom 1 device for $56...deluxe had been going for $56 by itself) & wife the refreshment ($26)...process was painless and quick. The refreshment package dropped down to $18. I canceled and reordered that and no problems

  14. I have to agree with

euphscott. I wanted to purchase the deluxe + Voom for myself only & then refreshment package for my wife as she doesn't drink much. Online I couldn't do that so I called and they accommodated very well. On the phone they said what the cost would be but didn't mention service charge. When I went out to cruise planner, I saw the 'service charge' and blood pressure rose. Realized after looking at posts here that it wasn't service charge but prepaid 18% gratuity and blood pressure dropped. Totally understood prepaid gratuity. Heck I give minimum 25% at the bars (not rich but I know how tips are important). Means I'll probably flip a buck on each drink I get.

Anyway, I understand totally where euphscott(and others) are coming from.

  15. Called them up a bit ago and everything's good good...got the $56/day with 1 Voom device & 1 refreshment package for wife that doesn't drink. Also rebooked an excursion that was previously canceled (said there was new provider).

Couldn't believe how fast it took on phone. Less than 5 minutes!! Thanks Heidi! (one I talked with on phone)

  16. I've been reading posts and I've only seen people saying that the Deluxe drink package only has to be purchased by 1 in a stateroom. When I went out to RC site, the price is at $43/day discount price but that both people 21+ in the same stateroom has to purchase. I can probably make this a worthwhile purchase but my wife doesn't drink much at all. It would be nice if I could get this package and wife gets the non-alcoholic package which is substantially cheaper.
