I always have problems posting on that site, I can type, read, etc. but when I try to respond or post my own message and click "post message" it won't do it at home or work  Would've been great for us to keep in contact with folks at home for free.
I had that problem too, till I clicked that Comoatability View icon. Then I could spread the knowledge.

Okay...gotta ask, what is the "Funville Forum"?
Is it something on the carnival site itself and you can e-mail or just post general updating "we are having fun, see you in a week" kinda updates to family? Just wondering.
It's their message boards.
http://www.carnival.com/Funville/forums/
You start your own thread, give everyone its title, and just post to it.
Only problem is, anyone with access can read it. There's no way to make it private.
Unfortunately, the site has been taken over by bullies.

The reason the Sunshine was delayed was because of vandalism by some shipyard workers.
That's not true. Due to the delay, the workers slowed down and vandalized just so they could keep working and get paid. The delay was to install safety features.

I put together a dry-dock schedule for all of the Carnival ships. The schedule includes the last known dry-dock and the upcoming dry-dock (if one is scheduled) for each ship.
http://www.embarkandaway.com/carnival-drydock-schedule.html
The schedule does not have what all of the ships are getting because this information has not yet been made public for all ships. I compiled the information using Carnival's website, go CCL, and John Heald's Blog/Facebook.
And of course, the information is subject to change (Carnival can change their mind!)
Let me know what you think! Hope this helps someone!
Thanks for not only your list, but your sources. Keep up the good work!

Is this the only upgrades or are more to be announced we were really hoping for guys burgers and blue iguana cantina ?
Sent from my SGH-S959G using Forums mobile app
Not sure either would be popular down under. Maybe Roo's Burger. With Koala Sauce.
And a side of ratatouille rings.

I wanted to see how others saved up. I was reading post after post on how folks have cruises booked every few months...I consider myself lucky if we can go every few years. We both have full time jobs and do not live beyond my means and do not have a credit card. So if we can't afford it, we don't go.
So, what are your tricks to saving up? Mine is the "squirreling away money" tactic. I take an extra $50 or $100 from payday and put it in an "Vacation Envelope" and I NEVER check the balance in less then 4 months. If I get a rebate check, I cash it and put it into the envelope etc. I know it doesn't seem like much but I can get a few hundred saved up here and there. Once I know we have enough to afford a cruise I will then book it and continue to save for the excursions, shopping etc.
Thanks for your tips on how you save for a cruise!!
Right after we got married, I budgeted our money for four weeks a month vv the monthly bills.
That left 4 paychecks for both of us each year, which was our vacation fund.
It worked till we actually started making more money than we spent. Till we had a kid. :p

Glad to see no Jumbotron in sight.

it is SUPPOSED to be 40 min. I was with Catrin (Hi Cathy :D) on the Splendor and they didnt enforce it at all. There was one woman who covered 15 chairs every morning. Yesterday she was seen putting stuff on 15 chairs at the Lido pool AND 15 chairs at the adult pool. Another put stuff on chairs in the sun and the shade. It was horrible.
That's just sad. On RCCL, there are people stationed to prevent people from doing that.
And they also collect unnattended things after about 10 minutes.
This 40 something minute rule is silly, IYAM, cause you can constantly work around it.

For those whose cabins smell bad sometimes, it can be the floor drain in the bathroom (not the shower drain, but the gutter near the door, or a drain in the middle of the floor outside the shower). The A/C sometimes dries out the water from the trap here, and a preventative glass of water poured down here daily really helps.
From a technical outlook, not having sailed on the Dream or Carnival ships, can anyone tell me whether the smell is more prevalent at night or day, at sea or in port? Does anyone know if Carnival ships have Advanced Waste Water Treatment plants (probably), and do they incinerate the sewage sludge generated by the AWWT plant? Anyone taken the behind the fun, and found out anything about this? I worked on a ship that tried to incinerate the sewage sludge, but we had continuous complaints about the smell that the A/C drew back into the ship, and we stopped doing it. This is only done at night at sea, so that's the reason for my questions about when the smell is present.
Can't answer any of your questions, but I do remember reading this. I don't remember the source or if it's even credible.
"Someone" acknowledged that the smell seems to be present only when the wind/breeze hits the ship at a certain angle, and whatever it was that was causing this, was fixed on the other two ships.

I think bridgeport CT would be a convenient port

For the Port Jeff ferry. :D

I couldn't agree more.
Plus, where else will you get a sail-a-way view like this one?
WOW! This shot is magnificent! Can I steal it for my Facebook page?

That smell has been there right from the beginning:

It will require better itineraries. And a stack that fits under the VNB.
New Yorkers want better than a Bahamas/Port Canaveral or a Halifax run. Bermuda would fit the bill.
But if the ship happens to be a new innovation, those of us that sail for the ship will be OVER THE MOON.
Carnival sorely lacks and needs a destination ship.

Starboard side next to the id deck elevators.
You must really be bored where you are. Feel better! :p

You're the 3rd or 4th to announce this. Thanks.
I wonder how many people stae, when they've alread herad a story that someone has just heard, state OLD NEWS. I guess they think everyone gets news at the same time.
Like Bengazi.

I might not go so far as to say disingenuous.....but I understand your sentiment......to me Carnival is nothing more than a business that wants to portray themselves in the best possible light to their customers....same as any other business.....
The price of air prevented me from planning a return to the Med this year and infact is limiting my cruise options going forward. Fortunately I'm retired so I can go on longer road trips, but I really don't like roadtrips so it would have to be a very special cruise to get me down to Florida.
I feel extra furtunate that we have the Magic and 2.0 Triumph at my homeport of Galveston and now we'll have the Sunshine in NOLA which is a relatively easy (11 hours) drive.
Sure, but at the same time, if they were so concerned about my expenses, why would they try to take away my $20 bottle of alcohol and try to charge me $350 for the same amount of liquor? How many plane tickets can I buy for 350?
If they could only figure a way to take a piece of those airfare $$.
BTW, having toured Europe extensively, I can't imagine trying to do it on a ship. But that's just me. Might be some others.
I'm quite happy picking up a ship in NY harbor and letting it take me into the sunshine. And having 2 of the latest and greatest sailing out of these waters is a real "dancing down 5th Avenue" plus.
-
I hope you had a great time. This was announced on May 10th at the same time Carnival announced it would have no European sailings in 2014 due to the rising cost of airfare.
I actually found that statement a bit disingenuous. How nice for them to be concerned about our out of pocket expense for airfare, but the real reason is cause an effect. They can't fill their ships AND make money. Nothing wrong with that, but call a spade a spade.

Yes. Broke about a week ago. Welcome back!
#12 Out today.
-
First off, you'll dock a LOT earlier than 8:00. It's usually closer to 6. We are usually off by 7:30 using VIP self debark.
We walked past those that were first in the normal line who said they queued at 6 just to get off first.

This should be the prevalent Splendor thread, and the other one should just die, being it's so WEST COAST driven.

I hope this isn't a flame issue but will ask anyway. Do you have a favorite CD and why do you like them? Lets leave John Heald out of this one as I know so many have a love/hate relationship there. I am interested in knowing the reasons people like their CD's! Who do you like to see on the ship you are sailing! Do they cater to you? Do they stop and see if you are having a good cruise? I have sailed numerous times and I only have 1 who stands out! I will save that for later and why?
The two best Carnival had have unfortunately left this planet.

MMMmmmm. Haute cuisine.
Have you ever seen how these things start?
That's the pink slime they add to chop meat. It's probably in the Guys Burgers, not the fingers.

But let's take jabs at the news outlets like they are the cause of this incident.
