    Hi,

I know there are lots of threads about the various beverage packages, but I can't seem to find the answers that I am looking for. I currently have the premium non-alcoholic beverage package on an upcoming cruise and my cruise planner is showing a very low price to upgrade to a classic alcoholic package. My question is does the classic package still cover cappuccinos at Cafe Al Bacio and other venues on board? The premium non-alcoholic package lists specialty coffees while the classic alcoholic package description lists premium coffees. Are these two different terms for the same thing or is there a difference? Also, does the classic package allow for non-alcoholic versions of the frozen beverages that are covered by the package?

    Thanks!

I want to commend you for having the non-alcoholic beverage package. I personally avoid both, the alcoholic and caffeinated drinks, as I view even mild mind altering drugs to have negative effects. Alcohol has it's purposes for medical uses however.

Ummm... No.  I don't date strangers on the internet.  Local or maybe people near Orlando.  That area of FL is the bomb!

Eagle Mountain Utah hu?  Doesn't take much of a google search to find out, you probably already have your hands full.  :classic_huh:

I wasn't asking for a date, I haven't even seen you yet!  You do seem like a fun person however. The area I live is actually quite nice, and a prestigious neighborhood. I think most people have their hands full these days, I probably do work a little too much however to afford everything. Orlando is a fun place to be and I have a good contact at Disney World there to get comped for the entire park free when I go. It's been 2 years since I last went but I'm due for another trip out that way soon.

Ok.. Well I am looking for a guy who is comfortable going out on the town as well as different travel (like I'm Disney Mom hello?), someone who enjoys life - young or young at heart, but is still responsible!

Seth, I know you are probably joking flirty, but you look a little too "Conservative Utah" for VV.  I want to be near men who aren't offended by a drag brunch when it's just the adults in the house, but straight enough to still want to take me home when the party's done and over.

Well this escalated quick! hahaha.....I may be conservative in many ways, but likely also more adventurous than most in some other ways. If you're judging me only by my photo here, I'm a business man and normally have to wear a suit and tie to work. I do unwind and relax after work is over however. But hey, now that we're auditioning as if this is a dating site, you should put up a photo here too :classic_biggrin:

I'm not a huge fan of the interior designs I'm seeing of the VV ships, but it doesn't mean I wouldn't cruise with them.

I still make the first one, barely.   I wonder if there will be many singles on these ships.  I'm a single mom with a well behaved 18 year old son. He's getting old for Disney and wants to try something new.

At least you would have your freedom to get away from it all being your son is 18. He can guard the house while you mingle with single men onboard the cruise! Or if you take him with you, a cruise like this might be good for him to meet up with someone his age too. Who knows, maybe we'll end up on the same cruise one day and make new friends.

  5. Most of the folks on here have been rocking it with Uncle Doug - especially when the thread moves along and we get into more of the details like here.

Fogfog I agree 100% (y). That is about where we're at too looking at the different cruise options and value sailing.

Well, I have to admit that after the other thread with you getting called out for being the cult leader in Kansas city, there's no shortage of entertainment with you.

    https://www.kansascity.com/news/local/article46952265.html

If this is really you from the article, then why not put all your cave church members on a cruise too!

  6. Great information, Seth. How is this working out for you on your transatlantic cruise?

As far as my son, it feels like really bad timing with how everything went down before we left. My parents are coming along, but they're not as understanding and not who he needs to confide in right now. We did have a long talk and agreed to give him some time to sort things out. We're parents so of course we're going to worry, but he can always reach us on social media.

Carnival is a bit of an older crowd, but I'm told that has more to do with the itinerary. Overall I would say that Princess seems like a more upscale cruise line. The food may be better on Carnival, but that's not a fair comparison. I had gone Vegan for awhile, but it didn't stick. Definitely easier to cruise without the limited diet. Now we'll see how all these sea days pan out...

Thanks again for all your touching comments and shared stories. Now that we're settled on our cruise, I hope to be more active on this site.

  7. DYKWIA - Thanks for the reply, and interesting article. I'm sure there are more than one or two people on any cruise that would appreciate more gender neutral restrooms as you said. I think most people that feel the way my son does (and others) probably keep it hidden as much as possible to avoid potential problems and stares from the public.

As for my account here, I didn't mean to leave this thread open for my son to see, it was a mistake on my part. But he's okay now.

  8. I wanted to once again thank everyone for their thoughts on this matter, my son and I have some tough decisions to make here.

After reading the many supportive comments this past week, it has put a smile on both of our faces at such an inclusive cruising community. Some of the comments have been a bit tough to read honestly, and it turns out that my son has read some of them because I have my account permanently logged in.

The best I can describe it, he is confused and searching right now, and I will support him in whatever decision he makes. I don't know what people said on here the last couple days, but something upset him and eventually blew up into some turbulence in our home. Maybe we have been too agreeable, but we want to be supportive and respect the decision that he made. I'm a parent, that's my job. Maybe it's how someone here put it, that you can't buy alcohol or vote at 15. We made an agreement to wait until he's 18 before making any drastic decisions as far as surgery and therapies because of a couple intolerant voices. He's also started watching someone named Blair White on the internet that's causing some doubt, and claiming there's some hormone test.

Thank you for your understanding. It's tough being a father at times, and even tougher on my son going through all that he has. We both thank you for your support and kindness. Hopefully this thread helps bring awareness for gender neutral bathrooms, and continue to be a space for compassion and inclusion.

  9. This is a sad commentary on Cruise Critic in general. The OP was seeking information NOT judgement. This is a forum for just that, information.

People are mean, nasty and rude sometimes on these boards and it is hard to take at times.

We wish the OP's son nothing but the best in life. He is not asking for anything from anyone but common human courtesy as are his parents!!.

Thank you for your understanding. I will admit that I was quite surprised when I found out how my son felt a while back, and went through a difficult adjustment period. But it's still my child and I'd do anything to help him. My boy is quite shy to begin with and is afraid of the public at this time. Hopefully it will become easier.

I also want to thank all the other people here with the helpful advice. My son read some of these posts and is appreciative of the support and kindness.

  10. Hello I got a tough question here,

My 15 year old son has come out as Transgender almost a year ago and has some concerns about the public area bathrooms on board. Basically he doesn't feel comfortable using either the men's or women's restrooms and says he gets strange looks at times. Of course he will be using our cabin restroom as much as possible, but he was curious if any of the cruise lines will be more inclusive for Transgenders in the near future?

I remember hearing in the news a while back that certain department stores are already on top of this issue.

  11. Obviously, you've never had Pork Belly, have you? Do you like Bacon? Tell me, just what percentage of Bacon is fat? When you say "horrible" things, you truly seem to have NO culinary experience at all do you? Lobster/Filet Mignon/ Chateaubriand/Foie Gras/Sweetbreads/ Wagyu beef. Ever had any of those? Chix wings at Hooters? Seriously? Try Provence style whole chicken. Now that's chicken!

Keith, I know bacon is fatty, but I usually choose the leaner cuts anyway. But what that Chinese gal made with those pork chops was literally HUGE chunks of pure solid fat for 80% of the size with a little meat on one side. That's what's disgusting, and you couldn't even chew it. I think there's nothing upscale or sophisticated about throwing huge chunks of pure lard in the mouth and trying to eat it.

I've had Lobster, Filet Mignon and sweetbreads, but not the other things you mentioned. Has this become a contest to see who has eaten more 'exotic' things than someone else? You're free to eat what you like, it doesn't bother me, but I'll admit my tastebuds may be slightly less adventurous than yours. I like good food and some variety just not weird food.

I think Doug has some valid points about us eating strange "delicacies" thinking we're special while poor 3rd world people are forced to eat those things and would love to have our chicken wings. Especially served by hot women.

  12. Well at this point let's just all get along and eat some chicken wings in the pool while letting the chlorine do it's work.

I'm sure we've all had a convenient 'accident' in the pool, even as adults, but everyone's too afraid to admit it. Though I don't think I've done that for a long time and prefer to get out and use a bathroom. This is one reason why you never put your head under the pool water.

  13. Uhh. yeah. Escargot(your weird snails & crap as you put it)are really NOT expensive. Chix wings from Hooters? Really? You really need to get out a little more. As "Auntie Mame" would say: "life's a Banquet & most poor suckers are starving to death!"

    Hi Keith!

I do get out quite a bit actually, but thanks for the helpful suggestion in case I wasn't getting out enough ;)

If you were in the neighborhood I'd buy you a beer and chicken wings at Hooters, that is if your woman would let you go.

  14. Don't give them ideas or they'll offer the "Nouveau riche Gristle" for $50 surcharge in one of the specialty restaurants.

I saw your post about Hooters. Is it any good? I would have to talk Cindy into letting me go LOL.

Haha, yeah some cruise lines probably would start offering extra fatty meats while charging extra for it as a 'delicacy'!

Hooters actually does have good food! They have some other 'nice" things there too which makes it all the better, but I suggest you go without telling your wife unless she's not the jealous type. You do see a lot of women there with their boyfriends and husbands however. It's not such a naughty place.

I saw your post about the Soylent. Not knocking you, but you could make it cheaper and a lot better doing it yourself. There's also another brand called HUEL, which is better than Soylent, and another huge step above that is AMPLE drink which is better than 99% of typical American's dinners. But Ample is expensive. I was trying out some of these meal replacement drinks about a year ago to help save time, and that part is nice.

  15. With all due respect, it really seems like NancyShaw here is getting unfairly attacked because of her opinion about not liking the food.

I once ate at a buddy's home and his Chinese girlfriend made pork chops and rice. Well, the pork chops she served up were LITERALLY 80% PURE FAT with only a couple small sections of actual meat. So I only ate the meat portions and left all the fat behind while my friend's Chinese gal looked at me as if there was something really wrong with me. I explained to her that I didn't eat the fat from the meat, and she still thought that was very strange.

Fact is, her food that night was not edible to me. Period. But to her and my friend it was edible. Let this story sink in to some of you who are attacking Nancy for a moment. Some people literally love eating horrible things and think it's great, while others will think it's disgusting.

  16. I can eat that stuff like that anytime on land. What did you have for lunch today BTW? Some of the folks reading this might want to actually know the difference between the two cruise lines. There's folks that have never been on Princess before and are curious or people from Princess looking over the fence. You can see by the other comments that Princess is doing some things right and you might not like it, but that's why you're going after my diet.

Having been on Princess before I wasn't overly impressed with their food. I'm a bit like you in that I'm not adventurous enough to eat frog legs (poor frogs!) and weird snails and crap. My ex would go for those things just to spend my money, but some good chicken wings from Hooters is more my speed.
