  1. The shuttle van is picking me up shortly to take me to the airport. We will be sailing the Liberty tomorrow. Leaving 31 degrees in NYC. Looking forward to watching my Patriots tonight from the comfort of the hotel bar. Thank you everyone for all your tips for answering so many of my questions. I am a seasoned cruiser but always love to get feedback. I will take lots of pics and try and do my first review when I return. :)

  2. I know you are mostly joking around, but in some seriousness:

I wouldn't typically drink 15+ drinks per day for 7 days, but I will very likely hit 10+ drinks per day. As mentioned, even skipping the breakfast mimosa or bloody mary: 2 drinks at lunch, 3 drinks pool side in the afternoon, 1 martini or similar pre-dinner early seating, 2 glasses of wine with dinner, and 2 martinis or similar after dinner. Bang, 10 drinks. And that is a huge under-estimate for the afternoon of three "cocktails" - 5 hours from "after lunch" to "pre-dinner"! I'll sober up with only three drinks!

Being an alcoholic means I "need" my booze. I can, and have, not had a drink for days if I have had the wherewithal. If my doctor told me to quit, I would. That's why I don't have a doctor. :D

But I enjoy a nice drink, especially wine with a meal, and I would easily consume the "value" of a Cheers! package most days: with the nice not inexpensive wines we like and the not-cheap Alchemy Bar drinks we favor, I only need to drink about 5 or 6 to make Cheers! worthwhile. So I may as well enjoy a few more, if they are essentially "free" at that point.

I've known true alcoholics. I can safely say I am not one. Not even really a "binge" drinker - I know a few of those, too. A practiced heavy drinker? Sure, I'll cop to that.

That’s about the same with me. We don’t really drink much when we are home but on a cruise or at all-inclusive it’s very easy to drink a good amount.

  3. During our first cruise 2 years ago, my husband and I traveled without our kids so we bought the cheers package. 1 night my dh reached his 15 drink limit. The waitress said he didn’t appear drunk and allowed me to order a beverage which I gave to him. I know this isn’t the policy but honestly he was fine. Have fun on your trip[emoji16][emoji485][emoji484][emoji482]

  4. Accepted by Email or just asked to standby, and even if told there are no more spaces, ask anyhow. Every time I board there is someone in the atrium or near the Lido doors selling Chef's Table. Usually with a sign on a table. Find them right away and sign up. I have always been invited.
I was confirmed. Got my confirmation email last night at about 10pm.
  5. I booked a GTY once and we got our cabin assignment about a week or so prior to sailing. Location was horrendous. Under the pool deck. We could hear the crew putting out chairs in the morning. Sounded like elephants. Never again!

  6. Chefs table or steakhouse? Last cruise I emailed for both. I got auto replies back but never heard anything else about the chefs table. I got a confirmation back for the steakhouse in a couple of days. The chef table was 75.00 pp and steakhouse was 35.00 pp. I wanted to do both but really enjoyed the steakhouse. Maybe I will do the chefs table one day.

The confirmation came from the steakhouse but it said chefs table and 75 per person.

  7. Enjoy Liberty! We were on her at Christmas, and it was such a great get away! If you can, check out Laura in the Piano Bar, and tell her that one of those NJ people from Christmas Week says hello! I am doing Chef's Table for the first time on Horizon in September, and I can't wait!
    I will for sure!
  8. Quick question for those that have used the drink package, my wife likes the daily frozen drinks and mixed drinks. If she has the cheers package are the drinks in smaller bar glasses? She likes the souvenier glasses also so I'm torn if she isn't getting those also. Also I pre-paid for a bottle of champange to be delivered to state room for her birthday, will this be refused if we have drink package added?
You can get a 25% off bottles of wine if you have the Cheers package. Not sure if that applies to Champagne also. No you won't be denied.
  9. We have the Cheers package. We are moderate drinkers in normal life but drink our butts off while cruising. We both have a pretty high tolerance for alcohol so fifteen drinks will be fairly easy. But, if we somehow go over that and appear to reasonably sober and still standing can we then purchase drinks? :)
