  1. I've been trying to book today and getting a screen that says thank you, look forward to seeing you on this sailing, confirmation email has been sent... But no email, no confirmation number, and I don't see the bookings in my captains club.  My TA is on a cruise himself right now ;/. I can wait until next week, but I wondered if you all are experiencing the same issues.  Tried  on Google chrome and Microsoft edge, using cruise with confidence certificate that is definitely still good and the website said was accepted.  But it didn't seem to really work.   Thanks?!

  2. I was on sky princess transatlantic and was popped as a close contact.  they put me on dolphin deck in a covid positive quarantine room, even though i tested negative and never had a positive test.  they refused to retest me, though i only had the one negative test about 5 days before disembarkation.   i had an emed test in my luggage and self-tested negative, but that didn't do any good.   my mom and daughter got tested the day before disembarkation in the vista lounge, but they wouldn't re-test me, kept me in quarantine, and gave me disembarkation instructions for covid positive folks.  it was really awful.   i had to get my own test at heathrow, after i learned how to sign up for the test via an app i had to download at the airport,  and there were very few spots available for a covid test.  waited about 4 hours for the test to be administered and 45 minutes afterward for results before i could go through security.   all  while i was separated from my family.  I am super annoyed.  so good luck to you.  you can get a test at heathrow but i would advise finding out who does it and signing up for a spot the day before.

Greetings from the Regal Princess.  We, too, are on a trans Atlantic cruise (departed FLL on March12).  And, as the passengers on the Sky, we have not had internet for the entire crossing.  We are now one day away from Cadiz, Spain.  So, ten days without internet.  It is now very spotty at best.  Princess has refunded all charges for purchased internet.

Thanks for this. We have heard gossip on sky princess that it's an issue with a satellite affecting all transatlantic voyages, and we've also heard it's a part needed on this ship. No official explanation or timeline for repair has been given.  Questions to guest services are met with no new info.  Not sure if they don't know what's wrong or just aren't saying.   ATM doesn't work either. Does your atm work? Seems internet related .

Thanks for the information. Have they indicated when this likely to sorted?

How are they managing things without the medallion eg opening your stateroom?

Medallion opens stateroom but the " medallion class app " doesn't work at all.  That's the app for ordering stuff with your phone, communicating with travel partners etc

  5. Hi y'all, Will they restock the minibar for a solo traveler, as long as there is no extra passenger in the room who hasn't purchased the package?  it looks like the price has gone up since this thread started, but it might be worth it with casino credits and minibar.

  6. on further review by comparing the video of smoking area to photos from cruisedeckplans.com, it seems the smoking area is all the way around to the port side aft, around the corner, not directly under the SVs.  It wouldn't even be under any port side staterooms because of the round bulbous aft shape 🙂  good job, celebrity!  thanks again Denny01 and Sunpsyche. 🙂

  7. hi! Denny01, and Sunpsyche, thank you so much!  we are up in SV 9309 on one date and SV 9310 on another date.   🙂  Hopefully these are high enough, since sunpsyche didn't smell any smoke, but the smoking area looks like it is partly open-aired.  great to hear it isn't bothering sunpsyche.

  8. Hi y'all.  I do not want to start a smoker v non-smoker war, please please i am begging you.  I just want to know whether the smoking area outside Eden drifts up to the aft balconies while you are in port.  Please refrain from explaining to me why secondhand smoke odor shouldn't bother me.  Here is a glorious positive video about Eden 🙂

.  Thank you.   Anybody have experience in an aft balcony when smoking was going on outside Eden?

  9. Hi!

I am wondering how often the production shows are changed and whether the same shows will be on the ships post-refurb as pre-refurb?

Is there a spot on the celebrity website where you can find out the shows that are on each ship?  I've seen a bunch of them and would like to see the ones I haven't yet seen.   This may sound like a strange reason for choosing a ship or itinerary, but it's a factor for me, so possibly for others too!

    thank you

    delphis

  10. bump...   just wondering if the production shows are the same as before the refurb?   we saw Topper, Life, and maybe Elysium, before the refurb...  Are there new production shows since the refurbishment?

    thank you

Double WOW! A six year old thread re-opened..........lots of changes since 2013! :classic_ohmy:

I know!  but i thought why start a new thread, when the title of this old thread still works.

I'm wondering about where the outdoor smoking areas are on Millenium, because I want to make sure we don't reserve a balcony near a designated outdoor smoking area.  We made that mistake once.... if i can help it, that will be the last time 🙂 lol

  12. I have just had to cancel my upcoming Princess  for good medical reasons with a note from the doctor and so forth and filed the claim online.  Will AON send me a check for the cruise fare/taxes/port fees, or will there be a credit to my credit card that I originally used to book the trip?  Is it partly a check for the non-refundable cruise fare and partly a credit to my card for the refundable port fees?  thank you for any insight.

According to our PCC, friends traveling with us RT Seattle to Alaska who do not have a Passport will be allowed boarding with a valid DL and a Birth Certificate.  They may however, be denied to get off the ship in Victoria during the last stop of the cruise.  I sure hope this is correct info.

    what's a PCC?  Personal Cruise Consultant ?

Thank you 🙂 that's helpful to know!   Last question--when a person traveling on a birth certificate and DL wants to get off the ship in Victoria, will they be allowed by the Canadians to debark and wander around Victoria?  just curious!

    thanks again!

No need to rush into expiditing to renew early. For the US and Canada only a valid passport is required.

A birth certificate and drivers license are good on HAL closed loop Alaska cruises. Victoria does not matter. In fact all closed loop cruises from US ports have to stop at a foriegn port. On cruises from Seattle the foreign port is Victoria.

The lady who asked about her Uncle was not on a closed loop cruise. The cruisetour was roundtrip but the cruise portion was one way from Alaska to Vancouver. Her Uncle needs a passport. She never came back so I hope she understands that HAL won't let her Uncle board without a passport.

The friend won’t have any problem. The friend has a valid passport. Closed loop or not does not matter. HAL is not going to deny boarding.

Charles4515, thanks!  So no need to rush into the expediting passport agency to renew it early?  You seem very knowledgeable, I looked at a few of your recent posts, you must travel the world a lot!    Here is my next question for you, because that's what happens when you answer questions for people, they ask more, lol! :

Do you think it is correct to say that the certified birth certificate and drivers license cannot work on HAL

closed loop Alaska cruises, beginning and ending in Seattle because of the stop in Victoria?

    thank you.

It's a closed loop domestic WHTI voyage - you'll be fine to board with a certified copy of your birth certificate and a driver's license.

Actually, my friend called HAL and the phone agent said what likeadisguise said in this post.  But I seriously don't think that's correct, even thought the HAL phone agent said it was okay,   because the issue is not returning to the US, which is fine with birth cert and drivers license on a closed loop cruise.  The problem would be that there is a stop in a Canadian port, which does not allow entry without a valid US passport (or passport card if arriving only by land or sea).  If a person doesn't have a valid US passport, passport card,  Canada won't let them in.   A passport card will not be good enough for a cruise tour with a flight portion in Canada, either.   Anything involving flights in Canada requires a passport book with at least one blank page.   My friend's question was about what HAL's actual policy is--whether it is a more restrictive policy than the Canadian gvt.   It's too late for my friend to safely renew his passport by mail, even with expediting, because it could always take a few days longer than expected, get lost in the mail, etc.   He might go to the passport agency within 2 weeks of the cruise, but it's a long drive and a day or two extra to be taken off work,  so a lot of expense and bother if HAL is fine with a valid passport expiring a month after the cruise.

Trust me, I know all about WHTI-approved documents and policy.  What they don’t tell you is that the CBP/CBSA Officers and the ship/airline gatekeepers have the final word and there is nothing you can do except argue your point as you watch your plane, train, automobile, bus, or ship disappear into the distance.

I read over the info about the closed-loop requirements. I use my passport, so this question is strictly theoretical. My birth certificate has my maiden name on it. My drivers licence has my married name. Would a mismatch like that cause a problem?

theoretically speaking:  I would bring a copy of marriage certificate just to be safe, because who knows what could happen at the border if you don't have matching docs?

  18.

    My question is:

Assuming a passenger is cruising May 10-17 and the passenger's passport expires a month later, say June 15:   Would HAL deny boarding for a 7-day closed-loop Alaska cruise for this passenger?   An expiration date on passport of  six months post-cruise is "highly recommended" by HAL.   Canada's entry requirement for US citizens is a "US Passport valid on the date of entry" (according to state.gov).

There is not a requirement on the part of Canada that a US passport is valid for 6 months after entry,  although some other countries have different requirements of course.   But what exactly is HAL's passport policy?

Is it that a passenger has the documents to meet the requirements of US law and the laws of the countries one visits?  Or does HAL now have a more restrictive policy requiring a passport that does not expire until 6 months after the cruise?

    Asking for a friend!

  19. is there a smoking area on Millenium the same as on the solstice class, ie is it on deck 5 port just outside of Sushi on 5, or is it somewhere else?    Like OP,  my friend needs to avoid booking a balcony directly above a smoking area, but the only balcony available for the itinerary she is looking at is on deck 7,  just above sushi on 5.

Why am I putting this on the Celebrity board?

I am so glad you decided to post on the X board!  I'd have never seen it on the Azzi board, because I wouldn't have thought to look there.  Not that I'd be averse... just wouldn't wander over on my own.  So all your reasons seem great to me!  🙂
