Yes, you are right. It is very inefficient. Sorry, I just don’t get why they are doing it this way.

Thanks for your post. It does make us feel a little better that we are not alone in having our bags separated.

Wrong! What we thought was 3 pieces is only 1. Assumed that they would keep all 3 together.

We received the message today that Fed Ex had our 3 bags and that they were being sent by ground. The expected delivery date is a October 19 by the end of the day.

Yes, by having it delivered and living in a condo it will be brought to our door. No having to load and drag it around, never mind I'm not sure it would all even fit in the car.
Just found out luggage is not being delivered today after all. Fed Ex says HAL has not released the luggage to them yet. Only shipping tracking labels so far. Very disappointed. So expect it will be another week at least for us.

Yes, lots of us have heard. Oddly enough, my date is the 5th and I live 36 miles from where the luggage is. Yet, San Francisco area will get theirs on Friday. I'm NOT complaining though; Monday will actually work better for us. I've seen pictures from some of the people that went to pick up their luggage today and heard from them that stuff was in pretty good condition; no breakage of things either. So, good news in that respect!
Just now, Gloria sunrise said:Is there a reason you do not drive the 36 miles to pick it up? Think if we were that close we would probably do that.

Just got our tracing numbers from Fed Ex. Supposed to be delivered on the 1st of October. Has anyone else heard?

Has anyone tried to contact US Customs in Pt. Everglades?

Do you really think the virus could live on the outside of bags that long. We can wipe them down before opening. Assume they will not have been opened.

Linda, I have gone to the Facebook page typed in the 2020 World Cruise Holland America Amsterdam asked to join and it said someone would send invite. I am about to give up.

Gloria, the Facebook group is for the passengers who were on this years world cruise. If you look on here (Cruise Critic Roll Calls) and find the Roll Call for that cruise, you'll see more information if you are interested.

Linda, I received an invitation to join Holland America Fans but I don’t think this is the same group as the 2020 World Cruise one. Who issues the invite from your 2020 group?
-
Thanks again. We were on that cruise also but were not in your group I guess. We received updates from Captain Mercer but when he left the Amsterdam those stopped. But I guess you found a way to continue receiving them. So glad to be able to receive via you that our luggage is finally on it’s way home.

Thanks so much for taking the time to answer me. So you are saying there is a Facebook roll call? I have gone to roll calls and that is where I read your posting about the Gulf Bridge bringing our luggage back. But I wondered where that information came from and some one said 2020 World Cruise Amsterdam HAL on Facebook but all I found there were ads promoting HAL.

I have an account with Facebook but I don’t post things. What Facebook group do you have to be part of? Thanks again for your help.
-
And how do you do that or is it limited?
-
Thanks so much for this information. What does the FB stand for and how can I read this post? So appreciate your help.

I am wondering how you received the information on the fact that the luggage is on the Gulf Bridge? Delighted to hear about this but when I called HAL this morning they would not confirm it.

Amsterdam picked up 25 "engineers" in Singapore along with some new crew. They are all in quarantine for 14 days. Even though this info was worded as engineers, I'm wondering if they are contractors that will begin some work that is due since she was supposed to go to dry dock on May 12th this year. Layup for some of our ships was supposed to be Malaysia but there were "issues" and the location was changed to Cyprus.

Any news from the Amsterdam?

We are supposed to have 1 piece of luggage delivered tomorrow. I thought that last week we were told by HAL that all luggage would leave the warehouse by the end of this week. I called Fed Ex customer service today and was told our other 2 bags were leaving the warehouse today. When that didn’t happen called again and was told to get in touch with the shipper. I wonder whether they are working this weekend? Did we ever think all this would be so difficult?
