  1. here is the sad update:

“Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings today announced an extension of its previously announced suspension of global cruise voyages, now extending through February for its Norwegian brand, as the company continues to work through its return to service plan to meet the requirements of the Framework for Conditional Sailing Order issued by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The company operates the Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises brands.

The suspension now includes all voyages on Norwegian Cruise Line embarking between January 1 through February 28 and select voyages in March 2021 and all voyages on Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises embarking between January 1 through March 31, 2021.”

  2. Greetings from onboard the Splendor!

A LIFETME EXPERIENCE AT SEA. The Seven Seas Splendor is docked in San Diego for 2 days. No visitors, TAs, media, Corporates on board. Just Officers, staff, crew and 6 (six!) lucky in transit guests.
Ultra cleaning & sanitizing happening, crew drills, equipment testing - all with the famous Regent smile!
Private dining in Chartreuse with the most impeccable care and service. Afternoon tea "wherever we would like it".  Cocktails, hilarity and music nightly in Meridian lounge.

Looking forward to welcoming you all to this spotlessly clean ship tomorrow....

  3. This has been an amazing TAC.  The entertainment has been OUTSTANDING.  The Captain, Officers, Staff and Crew the very best.  Sorry to see so many good cruising friends leave tomorrow, but a last (for this time) great dinner with Rich & Ginny tonight in Prime 7 😊  Then the amazing 5 day Christening celebrations will begin - very exciting.....

Look forward to meeting many of you boarding in Miami on Feb 25....  You will be AMAZED and ENTHRALLED .......  (the "tong - tongue" joke is NOT on Regent..!! - just thought you might like it!)

How nice that Captain Serena hosted a ladies dinner, sounds very special!

May I ask, what is the drink in the black glass?  And what is the dish that you are showing?

Hooray, love to see Kasia and Boogie!!

    Bob

Hi Bob.  The drink is the “Splendor Special” served in the Meridian Martini Bar.  Crown Royal, Ginger, orange and maybe a little lemonade.  Delicious!

The dish is a new one in pacific Rim “Seafood ??”  Lobster, scallops, calamari, etc in a delicious sauce with Cardamon and other great spices.  I recommend both 😊

  5. I can surely endorse Rick's excellent account of Captain Serena's touching individual recognition of each officer on the stage - it was emotional and heartfelt, very special indeed and I have never seen anything like it before either.

BTW there is 1 Commodore on board (Nancy F.) and 4 diamonds (Chuck & Joan, Ronnie and Moi!!) Unfortunately a lot of the other "long time cruisers" are presently on the World Cruise on the Mariner, otherwise they would all be here for sure.  More numbers to follow on Seven Seas Society night.

Cadiz today - most people out on tour.  I took a "Tapas" cooking class, which we then enjoyed washed down with lots of sangria. 🍷

  6. The Splendor is indeed splendid.  I will leave most photos to Mr Rumor, but what a great first day.  Lighter colours, wider spaces, amazing main staircase, the most amazing staff and crew (as always) xxx    OMG too much to mention!!
CEO Jason is on for four days, so personable.  Captain Serena is everywhere for everyone 💕 Sea day tomorrow and Meet & Mingle @ 11 am.  Super!!!  Let’s hope internet is good for us to share with you 🤞🏻

  7. Oh dear me - sorry to hear of your travel misadventures R&G, but happy you are now safely in Barcelona.

I wonder if you knew that during all of this there was an Air Canada plane (Madrid-Toronto) which was circling Madrid airport for 4 hours to burn fuel as they had mechanical problems and needed to return to Madrid airport.  This no doubt added to your delays.  Happy to report, the AC plane did return safely.

Once again this does confirm the wisdom of always arriving in your "departure city" at least one day prior to boarding the ship.

Our time on Splendor will surely make up for all the travel tribulations.  Have a great stay in Barcelona. 😊

We walked into the DFW’s Admiral’s Club a few minutes ago and immediately got shooed out!  “You don’t want to be here—you’re going to Madrid,” we were instructed.  “The new Flagship Lounge is two gates down.  More food, better food, hot food!”

So here we are at the Flagship Lounge’s bountiful hot food table.  Stowie, you have to control yourself!

Good practice for when you board the Splendor..!!

Speaking of "travel partners", does anyone ever bring small things for the local communities?  I went to the Amazon with Regent and a guest lecturer mentioned that some people bring small things for the kids.  Thought that was a great idea.  Not sure if we will have the opportunity on this trip but I try to grab a few things from the dollar store to bring with me in case I see a kid that looks like they may want it.

Nice idea for sure.  Certainly a lot of us do this in the Amazon and when we visit developing countries.  Depends a lot on the itinerary, this one is mostly days at sea !  Always good to have a few small items on hand however.  Pencils, soap, sweets, etc.
