Looking for more reviews and helpful info on the Monarch Princess. We are scheduled for October Danube, with a pre cruise extension in Munich for Oktoberfest. Thanks !

I need to be connected this trip due to unforeseen circumstances. We have never had our devices turned on during all our past cruises. I need to be able to receive text, messenger and phone calls. Do I need basic Voom, or the Voom and Stream plan?

What do you think, based on the OP?
I’ve read conflicting reports. This is our first go around as Diamond. Trying to figure out if the beverage package is worth buying also on this trip

Do they have unlimited cocktails in Diamond lounge or is it strictly coupons on Majesty ? Thank you

No, they are not. We usually Cruise Celebrity with the free beverage perk

We are sailing on Majesty in a few weeks. Several of us are Diamond and one couple is not. Can they join us but pay for their drinks ?

Robin - My wife are Royal Caribbean/Celebrity cruisers too. We took our first Viking River Cruise on the Rhine a couple of years ago and really liked it. It is a lot more laid back and tends to cater to a more older group which we are a part of. The ship is pretty quite in the evening, but the tours as well as the service on board is excellent. I think you will enjoy it. We are taking the France’s Finest Cruise next month and really look forward to it.
We are also Celebrity/RCL cruisers. We were on Rhine Getaway Cruise on Viking Eir in October and loved every aspect of it. It was truly the trip of a lifetime. We are going on Viking to Paris and Normandy in Aug 2020 and hope it’s as interesting as the Rhine was.

Following. We travel in Oct. curious About obtaining the visa on board if you do not take one of RCL shore excursions. Reservation agent told me that you can only get a visa if you take one of the ships excursions only

We would like to book with Old Cars. Would cruise line still handle issuing the visa ?

We just got off the Infinity and found MDR meals to be far better than in the past. Very pleased.

I agree, definite signs of aging. But it is not detracting from experience. The food in the MDR has been excellent and the staff great

No one to disembark but this checking procedure is a horrible mess. Sitting here in terminal for 2 hours waiting to proceed to checkin

Thank you all for input. Appreciate it ! We were planning on touring Midway, going on Harbor cruise and going to Zoo. Our hotel includes transfers from the airport and also to the cruise ship , and is convenient to the locations we want to check out as well as gaslamp and Little Italy.

My husband and I are planning on escorted tours in Guatemala , Costa Rica , Cartagena and panama. Friends traveling with us are confident that they can just get a taxi at the pier to take them around locally and see everything and that there is plenty to see in close proximity to the ship. I am of the opinion if a tour lasts eight hours then you are not staying anywhere close to the pier . which is correct ?

We were also on the Silhouette sailing 1/26 . We enjoyed our cruise , but feel Celebrity is slipping. Not the product we have come to love and enjoy over the years. Wake up !!!!! Take note Celebrity. Past guests remember the quality service and experience. We miss it.
People have many choices on where to spend their money, and loyalty doesn't always win out .
The first nite Select dining was a fiasco. Not entirely the staff's fault however. Many guests were clueless. Many people waiting in line had never even opened their dining reservation envelopes and thus didn't know whether they had early seating , second seating or select dining and were causing unnecessary issues and lines. Duh !!!
We found most of our meals to be very good. Beef was especially delicious and tender. Waiters were accommodating , but yes, short staffed and overworked , which detracts from a completely wonderful experience for passengers. Not the same as on past cruises.
Found the Martini bar bartenders to lack personality and They sure broke a lot of bottles trying to dazzle guests with subpar skills. Quality and taste of drinks was not what we experienced on all our other Celebrity cruises. We were very Disappointed as we have always favored the Martini bar.
Oceanview cafe for breakfast and lunch were good. As was Mast grill. Only complaint was not enough waitstaff offering coffee and cleaning up tables.
Really had to search for bartenders walking the pool area.
Public rest rooms were very clean for the most part
Wish they would bring back the Island bands by the pool area and offer more live music poolside during the day. Gave it a more festive and fun vibe.
The entertainment was pretty decent. Good comedians. The late night shows need to be moved back in to the theater however . People were being turned away in droves because there was not enough room in Celebrity Central to hold them.
The last minute show added due to cancellation of port call to Antigua due to bad weather conditions was excellent. Chiko is an excellent entertainer and wonderful asset to the Activity staff and I bet we will see him as a cruise director in the near future !
I miss the newlywed game and Liars club shows. Perhaps a tad old and hokey, but they filled up a void in additional nighttime entertainment. The slot machines were quite tight.
Embarkation and debarkation went very smoothly. No complaints.
Overall, it was an enjoyable cruise. I would not discourage anyone from sailing on this ship or another Celebrity ship. We just wish Celebrity would bring back some of the little extras and quality that set the bar higher !
