  1. THINGS THAT HELPED fill out the e-visa.   I thought I would put these two comments from @mr_cruiser8 both together.    ALSO I had a problem with my address.   Use one line only for your whole address. No comas or extra spaces.  Do not fill it out like you would address an envelope.  I did not use my postal code.

It's a convoluted process, not really straight forward.  From what I remember: When you log back in, click on "DOWNLOAD DRAFT APPLICATION" and view your saved application, it is a pdf.  Review it very carefully to ensure that all your details are correct. If changes are needed, click on EDIT.  If everything is good, click on the CONFIRM button.  Do not click on the "SAVE/UPDATE APPLICANT" as that resets everything.  Instead click on the NEXT button, which takes you to the PAY screen.  Note that you might have to click on the + near the application reference number to open up the fields. You don't have to do everything at once, you can always log out and log back in anytime, to continue.

Hello, you are in the right direction.  Most/ all of Oceania's info should be found on their website/ correspondence/ confirmation/ docs sent to you.  If not, google "Oceania cruises address" or similarly, and you should see all the required info.  I got Oceania's info below, but you should confirm:

    Host type: Tourism company

    Host name: Oceania Cruises

    Host phone number: +18555680187

Host fax number: **Leave this blank**

    Host email: guestrelations@oceaniacruises.com

Host address: 7665 Corporate Center Drive Miami Florida

Who is paying travel ... : By the applicant himself/herself

Thanks to everyone who commented on this process.  Now we will wait and see what happens in Nov. when we board the ship.  We also fly through Cairo on the way home so I did apply for the multi entry visa.

  2. We just got off Insignia last month after a 32 day cruise in a connecting cabin - not a penthouse.  We could hear the couple next door every morning and night.   Cough, blow their nose, cough some more.   I swear they were sick but I never really seen them.  We could hear them talk and only if we were sitting on the couch could we make out what they were saying.   Also, if they were up later than we were you could see the light coming through the frame of the door.   We were a guarantee on a waitlisted cruise so we took whatever they gave us - happily.

  3. It will be on Page 3 or 4 of your Guest Statement you received when booking your cruise.   It will be under Amenities and Gifts.  This is what you are looking for---

    - US$200 Onboard Booking Shipboard Credit Offer 2Voy * 267.00

We booked a b2b and got 2x$100.   The $267 is converted to CAD funds

    $300 is a good deal!  😀

  4. We have cruised both lines and Oceania staff and crew are much more friendly.  There are more hello's or good morning's and smiles when you meet them in passing.  Oceania crew takes more time to talk to you where Viking crew were more business like.  These observations would be from the past year. We have done 2 Oceania and 2 Viking cruises, each 2 weeks or longer since last October.

  5. Can someone confirm the Octantis is departing Detroit at 2pm tomorrow.    We live up river and want to make sure we are along the shores of the St. Clair River as it passes by. (there are many of us from our area)    I will look at the Marine traffic app for the exact location as it is cruising.  Today they are visiting Point Pelee the southern most point of Canada - birders paradise!

Attached is a shot of 6 crew that had tested positive for covid and were escorted off the ship.

Do you know for sure they tested positive?  I just talked to a very good friend (crew)  on board Riviera now and he said all crew that tests positive are quarantined on board.  He thinks their contract is up and they will be heading home for a break.

At which venue are the games taking place? Are teams limited to cabin mates? With the Entertainment staff limited, who is conducting the afternoon games? Is there any after dinner trivia this voyage?

Trivia teams are limited to 8 people.  You can make up your team with anyone you want and sit as close to them as you want in the Riviera Lounge.   No drinks are allowed in the Riviera Lounge to ensure you keep your mask on while sitting next to someone.  Paul is doing a great job with the trivia questions.  When the Entertainment team were in quarantine he also did the 8:30 quiz in Horizons.   Some evenings it may be name that tune with the piano player in Martinis.

The Entertainment team are back doing the games.  They are all being played outside.  Normally it has been  bocce ball at 9 am,  table tennis at 11 am and after lunch at 2 pm is golf putting then at 3 shuffleboard.

Today and the next two days we are back on our regular itinerary.  😀  I think in all we had 7 port changes/cancelations.  Two days in Barbados, twice in St. Martaan and a new port of Tortula (which was a great port)   We expected changes (maybe not so many) but are having a great time and are glad we are cruising.

Hi, thanks for all the info. Does anyone know if the bed in a balcony stateroom can be split to become 2 singles? We are staying 3 in a room so not sure if it can be 3 separate beds or 2 on the main bed and one in the pull out sofabed.

    Thanks!

I just asked our room attendant and she said yes.   She said it will be tight and not much floor space when you split the beds.   She also said make sure your cabin has a sofa bed because not all do.   Oh and not to pack heavy.  😀

Thank you Macaroni. We are on the 2/7 cruise which stops at several of the same ports as yours. Anxious to hear if any ports deny you entry and what O port(s) substitutes in their place. Hoping embarkation went smoothly for all.

    Hi Gina.

San Juan is off the itinerary and we are having an extra sea day that day.   They also cancelled Guadeloupe and we are now going to St. John's, Antigua.  Martinique has been replaces with St. Kitts.

    600 guests with 774 crew

Check in went smooth it was 40 minutes from the time we walked into the tent to be tested until we were in our room dropping off our carry-on luggage.   No one checked your pre arrival antigen/pcr test.  You need to show your vaccine certificate and only write down the date of your last dose (not your booster date - that was confusing for a few)   They e-mailed the results to you almost as fast as it showed up on the monitor.  In fact the man in front of us had his results e-mailed and his number was not on the monitor for another few minutes.   Not sure if check in continued to run smoothly because we were at the tent at 11:30am.

I read on another post that you also had Calabaza snorkel cruise booked in Barbados.   Ours got cancelled 4 days ago.  Just a heads up in case yours gets cancelled too.

Does anyone have an "official" Italian link that details cruise excursion (ship and private) rules?  I have looked and can't find anything.

We have a cruise in April and I have also had a private guide tell me that private tours are permitted.

    TIA!

I don't have an official Italian link but on our cruise in Oct/November we could only do ship excursion.  It was printed in the Currents for all our port stops in Italy.   We went to Italy a week early and boarded in Trieste.  We were allowed to do any private tour before we boarded the ship.  So yes, private tours are permitted but not once you board the ship.

    Hope this helps.

Although our shareholder OBC didn't show up on My Account, our TA checked and said it had been approved. Why isn't it listed?  Who Knows!

Still no sign of my shareholder OBC on MyAccount.  12 days till sailing.....

    Donn

Ours has not shown up either.   We sail in 11 days.   I received the email after I sent it in saying -

    Greetings,

The NCLH Shareholder Benefit received added and updated invoice has been sent.

    Kind regards,

We sailed on the Riviera from Trieste to Miami in Oct/Nov and the credit was on My Account the next day after I emailed them.    We shall see if it shows on our statement in our cabin tv.

Maybe this is a silly question, if you are changing cabins do you move your own belongings to the new cabin? Like laptops, medication, other personal stuff?

Just getting off the Riviera at the beginning of Dec. we had to change rooms as did a few other passengers.  In our situation (we did not have a butler)  we told our room attendant and she talked to the room attendant of the room we were moving to.   We packed our suitcase with the contents of the drawers along with extra bags, laptop etc to go along with our stuff.   They moved everything for us.   They took care of the closet.  Those clothes were transferred on the hangers and were hung in our room when we got back on the ship.  We had to go down to the reception desk and get a new room key and that was it.  It was seamless and easy.

It’s my understanding that Blue Cross will cover medical expenses related to Covid-19.  I don’t think they cover trip interruption/cancellation or quarantine, should you test positive on your way back to Canada.

No they do not cover this but we are lucky our cruise line will cover this and provide a flight home.

Do you have links/contacts for Blue Cross that you dealt with to get insurance?  Thanks.

We called the 1-866 # at the top of the page for Ontario Blue Cross    https://on.bluecross.ca/

Hope this helps.   We actually bought the annual special since we have 3 cruises booked (or I should say re-booked).   We had them start the policy the day we fly out of YYZ  (next month)

    Hope this helps

  15. Update ***  We were very successful with Blue Cross.  The lady my husband spoke with was very helpful.   Yes, Blue Cross insurance will cover cruise travel (we are in Ontario)  There is a special on right now until September 30 - travellers under the age of 75 can purchase a 17 or 31 day travel insurance for the cost of one trip insurance.   We have 3 cruises booked in the next 6 months so this was a bonus for us.

I think you need to re-read the thread, as there are several companies that do provide coverage for Covid-related medical expenses, even with the GOC travel advisories in place.

I have re-read this whole thread.   The only one that seems hopeful is Blue Cross.   We have called other insurers (alliance, CAA and Manulife) and have been told no to Covid coverage on a cruise as long as cruises are a level 4 travel advisory.   We are spending 7 days pre-cruise that we just booked on our own and was told no covid coverage for that part of our trip also.  They say it is part of the same trip.   (cruise).   Now to call Blue Cross.

Please be sure you get the right test! We are going AC to Venice Sept 9th and I know we have to have the  PCR. Just saying from experience..and that was a few weeks back. but hey rules are changing daily.

I would check your rules again.  We are also flying into Italy and I have been told you do not need a PCR/Antigen test as long as you are vaccinated.   Rules are suppose to change at the end of the month (August)  So keep checking the Italian government web page.

Travellers from CanadaJapan and the United States can enter Italy without quarantine obligation, provided that:

    1. They fill in the Passenger Locator Form before entering Italy

    2. They present on arrival a COVID-19 Green Pass issued by the Health Authorities their home country, certifying:

    • complete vaccination against COVID-19, taken at least 14 days beforehand, using a vaccine recognized by the European Medicines Agency (EMA)
    • recovery from COVID-19 and the termination of medical isolation
    • negative result for a rapid molecular or antigenic test performed in the 48 hours prior to entry into Italy

My question would be... does Air Canada require a PCR/Antigen test if you are flying into a country that does not require the test?

  18. The crew has been wonderful on the Marina.  They have been bringing staff that are usually in the background out to help in the dining rooms and to stand by the doors to make sure everyone sanitizes before entering the Terrace Cafe.  I am sure destination services are not too busy planning port excursions.  My heart does go out to the crew who have, in many cases, left family for long periods of time to earn money and send it home, now uncertain about their futures.

We are running out of things also.  We have no cones for ice cream... will I survive?  (this is tongue in cheek... before  I get hateful comments)  Everything still feels like a dream cruise on the Marina.  The staff are doing the best they can in these chaotic circumstances.

I am booked for my second visit to Volunteer Point on Feb 28, 2020.

Snidjud:  We will be on Patrick Watts tour the day after you.  Our neighbours must be on the same ship as you.  (Insignia)  We will be on the Marina and will pass you somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean that night.  I am looking forward to his tour and hoping the weather co-operates.
