I feel obligated to throw my 2 cents into the kerfuffle. Been on D8 several times in suites, as well as lower decks. D8 is noisy, probably more so than D6 over the theater. Plus I have the irrational fear of the pool on D9 leaking onto me during the night.

Not an irrational fear-: A pipe that fed the pool did spring a leak when we were in our cabin ( interior, deck 7) middle of the night!

The sound of water rushing around our cabin was disconcerting to say the least.

Then they took a few hours banging and drilling trying to fix it!
The front desk were worse than useless, saw no reason to move us and couldn’t see why we had a problem sleeping!
We did move after 4 hours and refused to move back!

  2. Our upcoming cruise in November has an off ship evening listed. I’m hoping it won’t be replaced by an onboard evening as they did on our last cruise!

The evening isn’t the only reason for booking Azamara ( small ships, port times, central docking, customer base and food) but does add an extra je nais se quois to the trip!

Thank you all for your insight into embarkation. The moral appears to be book a Suite, we haven’t, try to avoid Civitavecchia, we haven’t and take plenty of refreshments!! I’m not sure it will be a relaxing start to the cruise but I’m very much looking forward to it.

The cruise more than makes up for the slightly uncomfortable wait to board!
    Have a great time!

All the same location just with suite designation. No one handing anything out as tables are set up with flasks of coffee, hot water, juice and bottles of water. I have also seen cookies and small pastries.

Have been cruising with Azamara for 15 years and this has been the practice every time.

Maybe it was your particular embarkation port?

We embarked at Civitavecchia last November. It was a shower! No priority boarding, no refreshments apart from one small bottle of water between us. Hard plastic seats.

    Four hour wait.
Our next cruise leaves from Barcelona, I’m hoping for a better experience!

I've seen refreshments out every time we've been waiting to embark.

Maybe they were handing them out in the suite guest area but unfortunately not in ours!

I'm taking my own refreshments next time!

Maybe I was on a carbonara high, but there was juice, water, and chocolate cookies at the Civitavecchia terminal last November. I know I'm special and deserving, but I can't believe they did the catering just for me...

You must be special, we didn’t get anything apart from one bottle of water between us! We waited for 4 hours, it was the worst embarkation we have ever experienced!

  7. Are you a member of any of the RCCL loyalty groups, ie Celebrity etc?

Our level with Azamara showed on Celebrity. Which would provide you with the necessary evidence.

However, If  your level had been earned by cruises on other lines and last March was your first Azamara cruise then it would not count now.

As far as I’m aware everyone got the letter offering both. I’m in the U.K. as well and everyone on the cruise I met with from the U.K. seemed to get the same offer. So what nationality didn’t get both offers?

I believe they were European, possibly Belgium. Also see post 4 above, Norn Iron

The FCC was 50% of cruise fare paid less taxes not 2 days,  that was the amount for the refund, applied immediately. This was the choice for everyone regardless of where they were from. I’m not sure what you mean about unequal treatment?

I rang Azamara this morning and got told our FCC on the phone and given the voucher numbers. They were on our account but we hadn’t been emailed. I suggest if you haven’t heard to ring Azamara direct.

I was told by a couple of people onboard that they were only offered one option, not both. They thought it might have been because they had used an agent, but also it is possible that their nationality was the cause.

  10. We have been given 50% of the amount we paid as fcc but only the cruise fare not the taxes.

    Ie if Cruise fare £1000

    taxes Circa £225

    Total paid £1225

£500 to be given as fcc.

When we were at the captains q & a we were told it would be 50% of amount paid in fcc, which is not quite the case.

It's not been that long; I'd give them time to get it done...

We were told onboard the certificate would be with us, at the latest, in 40 days. With Azamara’s great shoreside administration I doubt I would get anything without a call ( or two!).

We are looking to book a cruise, which we cannot do until we know the fcc is available to use.

  12. We were on the Onward cruise that lost power in the Med, Nov 2023.

Azamara offered either two days refund or FCC of 50% of cruise fare paid.

    we opted for the fcc.
Where do I find how much was given to me and where it’s shown?
I have received an email from Azamara which was complete gobbledegook!
They  haven’t replied to my second email, having closed my enquiry for some reason.

  13. Cabin 7055 Onward

    Inside cabin

We had this cabin for two nights! Then a pipe from the swimming pool broke, which meant we got no sleep while they fixed the pipe.
We moved cabins to 7075, Balcony cabin. All fine.

So you know for sure that Quest is chartered for a “Lifestyles “ cruise at those dates? is it published anywhere? How do people know about those cruises?

Yes, it is advertised by the company “ Lifestyles” . I assume people who take that type of cruise are offered the cruises by advertising in the various publications they frequent/ read.

  15. We are not cruising for a few months but I’m a bit peeved that Azamara has married my other half off to another woman!

It appears he is going on a different cruise than me, lucky him though it’s in a suite to Japan!
still no sign of either of our loyalty status though!

Did you visit the Planet Bar on deck 18? The equivalent on Ventura vibrated when the ship was moving. I suspect the whole stern area has vibration problems.

No we didn’t but we did notice the Beach House vibrating massively!

  17. Just a heads up about this cabin.

    It’s on deck 11 aft.

    balcony cabin.

Possibly  the worst cabin we have ever been in!

When we booked we thought we had checked carefully but missed the room attached to the side where the

room stewards keep the cleaning equipment etc.

We had assumed the area was just a walkway to the rear cabins, it is not shown properly.

We were woken before 7am every morning with the banging of the metal trolleys on the wall, doorframe etc. Impossible

    to sleep through.

The cabin also suffers from extreme vibration from the thrusters, which seem to have also been used not only at docking time but also whilst  at sea during the night.

Not the relaxing cruise we had hoped for!
