  1. Just off the Allure, I must have missed the memo on "turndown service." Is that literally just turning your bedsheets down? We had the do not disturb sign out most evenings, flipping it over when we left for breakfast and the room was usually cleaned when we got back. So once a day was good enough for me, just wanted clean towels and the garbage emptied!

  2. I would suggest you go to the MDR after embarkation and request a specific table. In our experience on the Allure, many of the two tops are very close to one another and there is no privacy. You will hear other people's conversations and we've had people butt into ours. The Allure has some lovely two top tables along a wall and that is what we always request. No neighbors on either side of us. :)

Excellent thank you! It's our honeymoon and first cruise so it's good to know these things in advance!

  3. I'll be going on the Allure soon in 4 weeks. How cold is the air-conditioned areas like the main dining room, restaurants, casino, staterooms? Do we have control of the temperature in our room (it's an OV balcony). Should I expect to wear my shorts/dresses and "summer" clothes in the evenings or pants? When on vacation in Florida I'm typically cold when in restaurants, movie theatres, grocery stores, etc since I'm wearing my "vacation clothes." Just trying to figure out what to pack!

  4. A lanyard sounds great to be purse-free when walking around the ship, but what do people do when swimming? I would imagine at a minimum I would have a towel and whatever clothes I was wearing over my bathing suit. Do you just leave it on a chair with no one watching it? Assuming you can even get a chair...

  5. This tipping porters thing has me very confused! First time cruiser here, can't you just carry your bags up to the "check in" desk? (Is there a check in desk?) I'm leaving out of Fort Lauderdale on RCI. I never had anyone carry my bags at an airport or hotel, I'm used to doing it myself! Heck these days at airports no one else even touches your bags, you attach your own tags and put your bag on the conveyer yourself. I'm not against tipping but I'm Canadian so I don't just have dollar bills in my pocket, I'd have to get money changed after landing, and I don't quite understand what service I'm paying for.

  6. We're in our late 20s. Not big partiers but also don't want a boat full of seniors. We would be flying in and looking at a Florida departure port. Hurricane season would considered so I was leaning more towards mid to late Nov. I expected the Mediterranean to be a bit too cold in the fall? We're looking at around a 7 day cruise. I've noticed some 7 day cruises have 3 ports and some have 4, so it would seem that it would be best to find one with 4 ports.

  7. I was on a Carnival cruise when I was younger, don't remember much of it, and my fiance has never been on a cruise. Do you have any recommendations for a cruise line to look at? There are so many it's hard to know where to start. I get seasick so I was looking for a bigger ship. We want good value for our money but it's also our honeymoon so something low to mid-range in price would be great. We're looking at a caribbean cruise in Oct/Nov 2018. Any particular ports that are favourites or ones to stay away from? Thanks!
