  1. Hi all traveling on Ovation on June 12. We will be in Juneau on June 14 at noon according to cruise planner.  I’m booking an independent whale/glacier tour. But now I’m stumped if time zone will change. I was going to pick 1pm local just to be sure.  We leave at 9 and tour is 5 hours.  Is this ok you think?

Not sure where you are diving, but we are diving with Peter from Coki Dive when in St. Thomas less than 4 weeks today.  We will then spend the rest of the day either at Coki and Coral World (or take a short cab ride to Lindquist beach if Coki is too busy for us).

Taking half an hour to go back and forth to the ship will eat up a good portion of your afternoon.  What about taking the kids and your adult niece to Coki beach with you, let them enjoy the beach and snorkel there while you do a couple dives with Peter.  Then you can join them right after without having to go back to the ship and waste an hour.  Coral World is right there.

I dove with Peter about 10 years ago for a night shore dive there, so I am looking forward to diving with him again.  Four of my relatives are doing the first two of their four open water dives to finish off their certification there, including my 10 year old daughter.

Thank you.  We are diving with the cruiseline (at Coke) so we will have to go separately from them in the morning.  I suppose we could just all take a taxi later to get back to the ship.

  3. My husband and I are scuba diving in the morning and will come get the kids and my adult niece from the ship when we get back-12:30 ish.  Would we have enough time to get a taxi to coral world and explore the included attractions and get back by 4.  Harmony leaves at 5

While that sailing looks appealing, it’s significantly more expensive than the Oasis deal we had booked. If they would at least transfer the kids sail free promo between sailings the prices would be comparable, but the fact they won’t transfer the promo is a deal-killer.

I get it that they gave some price protected options for other dates that just don’t work for our personal circumstances, and I don’t expect something for nothing, but I’m just disappointed in the (lack of) options offered for the same week and their lack of flexibility to try to make other cruises that are actually comparable and actually have availability work out for people.

Ah-if they would just let you pay a bit extra (7 v 9 days) I could see that.  I'd probably cancel and either find another cruise line or a land based vacay, if I were in your shoes.  Sorry this is happening to you.  I just mentioned Harmony because someone had said they didn't see it listed for that week.  Good luck.

Stuart Cove is the big dog in Nassau. Most cruise lines who run excursions use them.

They are actually not in Nassau but rather a 20 minute ride to the other side of the island, but transportation is included in most of their packages

I used them both thru cruise ships and DIY ... nothing spectacular but reliable and safe

    Thank you.

  6. We are diving in st Thomas on our Harmony cruise but want one more day of diving.  How is the diving in the Bahamas?  I saw a private dive with sharks.  Anyone ever done this?  Recommended dive shops?  Thanks!  I'm going to post on the Diving board (haha) too.
