  1. Have you considered the company is right(read web site min 50$ on BJ) and the casino person you talked to was mistaken. And again the casino club is not even known about on ships by the staff in casino working for the bar. RCL needs to train staff and support casino royale club and members. There seems to be a culture of the casino is not ours just the profits it makes.

What web site where does it say it? I have spoke to 3 diffrent people at the players club hot line and they could not point me to any posted rules. I do not cruise to gamble, but I enjoy to play a few hours a day. My point is no one knows the rules or they change at will.

  2. It doesn't matter.....you said you canceled because of the treatment you got from the player's club people..... If that's why, I just don't get why you would cancel what would be a fabulous cruise in the presidential suite on a beautiful ship.

And right....it's not any of my business but, you said it.....sorry if I am out of line with my question.

Again its about principal do as you say. I rejected several discounts for my next cruise because of principal not for money. I will not allow me or fellow cruisers get told one thing and then a different one later.

  3. Sorry to hear you feel you got rude treatment from the players club people. I have met many of them in person on many different occasions and can say they all were very, very nice to us. Any time I have called or e-mailed them they have always been very professional and not rude at all.

Do you only cruise for the casino......

What does it matter why I cruise? I played by the rules of the club, this is not about why I cruise or what I do while I cruise.

  4. Thanks for adding this thread, this is handy to know. I like to play the games and might have wasted my time trying to get with this program. Weird that RC is mismanaging this program so horribly. Usually they run things pretty consistently.

The guest relations desk did not even know of the program. RC dropped the ball bad with this program, and if you look back many say what I was told or a variation.

  5. somehow i got an email from casino royale players club a few months ago- i do not meet the req'd play to qualify to be a member- the rules were in the email- i forget what they were- but think it was like $50 a hand for 2 hrs daily for b.j. and thought slots was $5 machines- maybe you could google casino royale for more info-

so you cancelled 3 cruises because of their lack of response?

    wow-

one ship we sailed on you put your seapass in slot machine to earn points- first cruise with that option i earned 3 free drinks- next one points req'd went up and i earned 2 free drinks- the next time the points req'd had gone up even further and i didnt earn any free drinks..............lol- i dont cruise with rci for the perks in the casino....lol- good thing , huh?

The rules vary depending on who you ask. Yes I canceled three future cruises for the very rude treatment that you get from the players club people. One was the presidential suite on the freedom.

  6. This is copied from the letter my DH received on our Mariner cruise in Sept. 2007.

The Players club cruise discount is based on your "casino action" on each previous sailing. Whether you win, lose or break even, you'll earn discounts toward your next Royal Caribbean cruise vacation.

Qualifying for this cruise discount is easy. Simply play at least two hours per day during your cruise, placing the following minimum bets: Blackjack/Dice at $50.00 per hand/roll; Caribbean Stud/Let It Ride/Three Card Poker/Roulette at $25.00 per hand/spin; Slots at $5.00 per spin.

We where disappointed with our casino experience last week on Explorer....as far as slots go, the machine's have NO slot for your seapass, so NO way to rate actual slot play. When we asked about being rated on the slots, they said, we have your pic and know when your in the casino....

The casino employee's where really great and did greet us by name everytime they saw us and hopefully rated table play as well as slot play accordingly but, we have our doubt's...:(

They claim it to be $50 per hand and 3 hrs per day now, not the same as it was told to me on the ship. Funny you call the 800 number to the club and they seem lost.

  7. They state average play, so $25 or fifty, two or three hours with the odds I was more than qualified. Agian the big problem is there are no posted rules. I cancelled my other three cruises for this year and now they want to discount this and that, sorry I wasn't looking for a hand out just to get into the program.

  8. Since the "perks" of the ship's players club are nowhere NEAR as generous as Vegas or even Atlantic City, I've never worried about it! And you are at the mercy of whatever "minimums" they decide on...

Of course, I don't play $50 per hand for 3 hours daily, since everytime I play BJ on a ship, the dealer NEVER, EVER loses! Ever! Very frustrating!

The first night and day you can win. But after that forget it.

I agree.......I had heard 25.00 per hand for two hours.

Thats what the manager told me and thats what I did. After trying to resolve this for a couple of weeks I just canceled my next three cruises.

  9. As some know there is a “players club” in casino royal. You cant find any information about this before sailing and you must enroll to the casino manager the first day of your sailing. The unwritten rules vary depending on your game of choice, for me it was blackjack. I was told I had to play an average of $25 per hand and a minimum of 2hrs per day, that after my cruise I would receive information on what the program entitles you to. No problem I thought. When I returned I called a few days later and spoke with what seemed to be the only person working that department and was told he had the sailing information before my cruise and the one after but not my sailing, and he would email the casino manager for the information and return a call within a few days. No cal no nothing a week later so I call again, this time I was directed to voicemail and left a message, two days later no call. I called customer service and told them about my issue I was assured a return call. A few days passed still nothing; I call again and sent direct to VM. I at this point was not happy and called customer service again they said they are working on my case and some one would call again, I expressed that’s the same song and dance that I had been told all along, the lady then put me on hold and when she returned told me she sent an email to the director of casino operations, and he would call me within a couple of hours. He did and informed me that I did not meet the minimum play of $50 per average hand and the three hour limit. I explained I was told $25 and 2 hrs were what I was told. He said no its $50 and 3 hrs. Does anyone know or have what the real rules are? I know my average play was over $50 and time played far exceeded the requirements but do not know what to do.

  10. I just booked a Jeep Tour & Snorkel with Cozumel-Tours. It's the six hour jeep tour to the Eastern shore with snorkeling at Dzul-Ha.

Has anyone booked with this group before? Any good?

    Thanks.

Cozumel-Tours is just an agent they don't operate the tours they just sell them. The jeep tour does get good reviews.

  11. I did ask...but I hadn't got a response yet. Just wondering if anyone knew since the van is $100 more.

One thought is to all jump in a mid size car and see if you are all comfy. Personally I would pay extra for the van as it will be hot and a tight fit.

  12. Thing to note (this is what I did not understand, not ever having been to Cozumel):

There are several taxi stops, not just the one in front of Carlos and Charlies!

Which ever dock your ship stops at, Gerry will be THERE.

That is a very great point, not to mention the taxi stands, but with all the vendors and cruisers walking around it can and will seem very confusing. Always ask your tour provider to be specific in a meeting point and time. Sorry you missed your day, but glad he did explain why so others wont make the same mistake.

  13. Posted this question on the main Cozumel board..now I'll try it here. What time do I tell the taxi/guide we've arranged through the above email address to meet us?? We're on the Carnival Liberty arriving at 8am, but I'm confused if they mean local time or if the ship stays on Miami time where it departed from. From reading the postings here on CC some folks found it one way and others the opposite even on the same cruise line. Anyone have an idea for me??

Ships time would be eastern time. Cozumel is central time, so if your docs say arrive at 8am you arrive at 7am. Hope that helps or answers your question.

  14. Not sure what happened, but we had arranged to have Gerry pick us up right in front of Carlos and Charlies at the port, but Gerry was a no show! We waited 45 minutes.... I even brought a print out of the email. We had the right time, right date, and the right place. Bummer...

I was really looking forward to this. Good thing we did not pay in advance.

I'm sure Gerry had a reason, but if it could have been avoided, an email would have been nice, and we would have made alternate plans. As it turned out, we walked around the shopping district for a few hours, and headed back to the ship.

Gosh sorry to hear that Gerry normally does not have this type of problem.

  15. Thanx for your response I have already talked to Mike... the problem is we wnat to spend a couple hours at PB then do a tour and this is the response form Mike

Unfortunately, due to taxi union rules, pre-arranged tours only have a 2 hour window in which the participants can be picked up at the pier.

I emailed him back and said what if you pick us up at PB instead haven't heard yet....

Email carrie at tourcozumel dot net she will arrange your tour.

  16. Just wanted to pop in to say hi and read where almost everyone has had as wonderful an experience as I had!!!

I think the bad post came from someone who did not get into a van with the real Gerry. I know that in other places there are imposters so my opinion is that this is what happened!!

    Gerry is the bomb!!

    Hi Ken and Darlene!!

    Hey Mamma!!!

  17. Another person wrote back from the Gerry e-mail address. I guess the rate is $80 for 3 hours now. I thought it was just $20 an hour. I don't know if I should book this or just get a jeep.

It has been $80 for the first three, and $20 each additional. Pretty sure a jeep whith full coverage insurance is close to the $80, also Gerrry is more than just a driver he is a guide. :)

  18. I emailed Gerry and got a reply, via Mike.Unfortunately Gerrys station wagon can only hold 4 people, and we are 6.He quoted me $180 for a van plus $35 an hour after that. That is more than we wanted to pay so I guess we will have to hire a driver at the pier that already has a van. This is our last port of our 2-week,b-t-b cruise on the Valor.I guess we will just see how we feel when we get off the ship.WHo knows, maybe we will be all toured or beached out by then.I will email him back so he can go ahead and book someone else.

Not sure a driver at the pier is going to be all that much less. You might save $15-$20 or so, and chances of getting someone that speaks good english wont be easy.

  19. I do highly recommend Gerry. He was not feeling very well but showed us a great day in Cozumel anyway. I did mention to him at the start of the day we did not want to shop, he said no problem and we never stop anywhere other than where “we” wanted to stop. About the time we were pulling into the parking lot a the dock, I did ask Gerry if he was aware of the not so favorable report on him posted on Cruise Critic. He said he was aware of it, but had not read it. PB Tom had told him about it, but Gerry told me that it never happened. I will not judge either way but only say if you want a personalized day in paradise, Gerry’s your man.

Yes thank you for taking the time to let all know about your day.
