Thank you for reporting and congratulations. We will be on the Jewel in August and it is the first time I am interested in bidding for an upgrade.
Definitely give it a shot! We were on a budget and wanted to put more money towards excursions so initially we opted for the interior room. But given the chance to upgrade for $200 seemed like a no brainer! I wasn't really expecting to be picked but it was a nice surprise!

Upgraded from interior to balcony on Jewel in Alaska this July. Bid was $200 total (lowest bid). Feeling like we won the jackpot!

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I decided to go ahead and purchase the 3-specialty dining package! I think it would be nice for 3 out of the 7 nights to have a little upgrade.

Hi Everyone! Sorry if this has been aseked before but I'm still a little confused. First time crusing NCL and we have the Free At Sea option, which includes 1 specialty dining option. It's a 7 night cruise, and I have the ability to upgrade to have 2 more specialty dining nights, for about $180 total (2 people). I am wondering if it is worth it to try 3 specialty restaurants instead of just 1. I know on other ships, the MDR is usually fairly good, but sometimes can be disappointing. Also, I notice many are 'A la carte' (sushi, french restaurant, etc.), how does that work for the specialty dining package?

I just got off the phone with them. The woman I spoke to said she's been working there for 6 years and doesn't understand why my booking hasn't been moved to processing (or something like that). I was told I need to call the accounting department on Monday because I'm at 14+ business days at this point.
The woman who answered my call was really nice and I didn't have the heart to complain about lack of emails. I'm Platinum with Carnival and I'm a little annoyed that I haven't received one Covid-19 email or a cancellation email. I know I'm on their email list.
Just curious if you ever got a resolution to your refund? I still haven't received mine at all and it's been over 10 business days since I last called and spoke with customer service.
Did you end up calling the accounting department? If so, did they help? What is their number?
Thanks

No. I never got a refund or confirmation. I, too, am getting worried.
So I called them and the woman on the phone said they dont give confirmation emails, but she could check in my account and see that it would be fully refunded. But it might take 10+ days to see that on credit card. So... we'll see

I got the free interior stateroom offer. Would love to use it!! Do you think things will be 'normal' again at that time?
I guess if not you can cancel for a free refund... since its free anyway! just pay taxes and fees

I canceled my upcoming cruise on Monday. I never received a confirmation email and I haven't received a refund (my cruise had been paid in full). When I try to access my booking on Carnival's website, it's no longer listed.
Did you ever get any confirmation or refund?? I still havent, and getting worried 😞

It could be alleviated if they had an email customer service line.

I tried calling the 3 different customer service numbers and each one says 'high call volume' and 'try again later'. No ringing at all. LOL what a joke

I tried to cancel online through the webpage. It looked like the cancellation went through but I never got any email or confirmation showing what my refund or cancellation charges would be. I need some kind of confirmation to show to my travel insurance company.
did anyone else receive confirmation?? I noticed the webpage messing up -

Just confirmed, 21 positive for the virus. Out of total 40+ tested 19 crew and 2 passengers do have the virus. Ship will be taken to a non commercial port and all passengers and crew will be tested. This was announced at ongoing press briefing at the WH with VP Pence. Heartbreaking for all those on board and their loved ones.
is there a link to this information?

Wow. You have until the end of the month to rebook for an FCC, right?
Luckily I purchased the 'Cancel Anytime' insurance from Allianz when I booked. Gave them a call yesterday, and they confirmed I can cancel for any reason, anytime before the trip for full refund.
I'm hoping it won't come to that. My travel was just for fun/vacation so it's not too bad if I need to reschedule. But yes, anyone at my place of employment who is currently abroad or travels internationally will have to face a mandatory 14 day self quarantine at home. So I imagine there will be people who happened to leave a week or two ago that may not be able to return to work. And for those who left the US and are not citizen (only visa or greencard holders), it's possible they won't be allowed back in the US if they have visited a high risk country. But... of course, this virus could run it's course and be over within a few weeks to a month. So it's hard to really predict what will happen. People are just taking precautions to contain anyone who is sick.

Well as of today (3/6) my place of employment (a medical facility) has banned all international travel and domestic travel for all employees unless approved by the office of the President until further notice.
Shoot... I am really hoping I will make it on my 4/9 sailing...

Any updates from those currently on the Grand? How is it going?

Maybe its just me, but being on a large cruise ship and not expecting lines for food and drinks is like going to Disney World and expecting to be the first one on the ride... not gonna happen.
And if you want your drink faster, walk up to the bar, instead of laying by the pool.
