  1. I’ve sailed both. Admitting that food is subjective, I found the quality of the food on RCL unfortunate. On the Anthem of the Seas, the steaks all had too much gristle on multiple occasions.  Food over salted.  By the end of a 10 day cruise, we only ate the kimmelwech sandwich in 270 and in the experimental restaurant, Wonderland.  We avoided everything else.

There have been mediocre nights on NCL, but nothing I had to send back.

  2. I’m $30 away from paying off a January 2022 cruise on the Getaway.  I’m in an aft facing, penthouse. For a reasonable amount more, I can upgrade to a two bedroom villa or the owners suite.  Has anyone sailed either of those and is it worth the change? There are three of us in the cabin.

    Thanks!

  3. I've sailed both lines. We've done multiple cruises on NCL. Went on Anthem of the Seas for the change of pace. The ship was beautiful, but cold. The staff, with only a couple of exceptions, were perfunctory and distant. There were times I felt as though I was trespassing on their ship. And the times when the ship had push sales going on were really obvious. And the crew's distain when you didn't buy was palpable.

    NCL just feels more gracious.

  4. Sailing on RC for the first time in January. It dawned on me that on NCL, we've always posted cash for onboard expenses. I never occurred to me that RC might not take cash and might only take credit cards. So tell me, veteran cruisers, doe RC take cash for that?

    Thanks!

  5. Hi all,

5 night Anthem out of NJ and trying to see what's the best route for us. We are local so we can drive day of and park at the lot by the port.

But it's $20 a day so that would come to $100 total.

I was reading and saw there were some hotels that did park and cruise and was wondering it would be better to stay over a night before.

I was wondering what's everyone take out that and which is the best price one that had a shuttle to the port?

One other consideration: the park and cruise hotel lots are not necessarily secure. We parked in a hotel lot on one occasion for a ten day cruise. When we got back, multiple cars had been broken into the night before. We were lucky. The Port parking is safer.

  6. What is the itinerary?

Navigator is going to the Southern Carribean for nine days. Anthem of doing the Eastern Carribean for twelve. We've done the eastern route before. On the southern route, we've never been to Curaçao or Aruba before.

  7. I'm currently booked on a January sailing on the Navigator of the Seas. Due to some travel complications, I'm considering changing my reservation to a sailing on the Anthem of the Seas. It would make my travel arrangements much simpler. I've never sailed RC before and I was wondering if anyone has sailed both of these ships and has a recommendation between the two.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!
