I've read some conflicting postings on whether or not My Vegas rewards can be used on bookings made under a RCL promo price. That would kind of diminish the value, as the promos are invariably better than the 10% discount for 200,000 LP.

I've yet been able to use My Vegas rewards on a cruise due to being on promotional prices.

  2. We will be in Barbados in December and also looking for non-crowded beach bar to just hang out few hours in peace. Boatyard, Harbor Lights and others in that area seem way to "active" for us and our cruise ship even offers an excursion to couple of them. No thank you. But in looking at google map I found Brandons Beach which is just north of port just past a marina where we previously took an excursion on Calabaza and also right next to the rum distillery. Anyway found small beach bar/restaurant named "Rascals of the Caribbean". Their reviews on other sights seem good and everyone says prices good, few people, they rent chairs and umbrellas if needed and free rum punch for each rental apparently. As stated have not been there but we are going to try it in December. Apparently locals go there also which is a good sign in my book. May want to look it up and consider this. Appears easy to do distillery also if one is so inclined.

When will you be there in December? Are you by chance on the 12/8 out of Puerto Rico?

  3. jolly beach is right next door to jolly beach resort. so it you only want the beach you can go to that section. we did a day pass at the resort 3 different times. i did not see anyone just walk up to the beach without the day pass at the resort but i dont know if you can or cant. i loved the day pass since you get all the food and drinks and the pools included

How do you get a day pass? I didn't see that option on their website.

  4. My DH and I purchased the ultimate drink pkg for ourselves and the beverage pkg for our kids.....i’ve Since learned on these boards that drinks are available from 11-11 in the CK. So with the exception of the obvious inconvenience of always having to go to CK, is it worth purchasing the separate pkgs?

I don't think drinks (alcohol) are free from 11am-11pm any longer. I have heard only 5-8 (or something similar to that).

  5. I work in Pharmacy so I can tell you at least in the USA for 100% Scopolamine Patches are NOT available and have not been for close to 10 months. Will they come back? At this point I doubt it, I have not seen something on back order for this long in years in retail pharmacy. Not saying someone won't make them, but it isn't a high demand product in truth.

This is ONLY for the generic version! The brand name are available still. I can also attest to this as a recent patient was just prescribed them for a 15 day cruise, and they needed a prior auth with the insurance. Dr's office got the PA for the generic after I specifically let them know only brand was available. 3 day fight but it happened and they got their 5 brand name patches today. I then proceeded to order 3 more boxes of the brand name to replace them.

If the cost doesn't bother you (which I mean... you are going on a cruise right?) When I compared the price of the 5 days of brand name patches for this patient just in case their insurance wouldn't pay for it... it was only $100 ran through a discount card we offer.

This is just to point out that it is only the generic that isn't available and if you are willing to pay a slight premium (5 generic patches is $80) they are still out there! If your normal pharmacy doesn't have them, call pharmacies and find if they use Cardinal as a distributor. If they do, you can get the brand name Transderm patch.

I just filled my prescription in May.

  6. The problem is not the kids but the parents. I grew up in the 60's, my kids grew up in the 80's and during that time adults could talk to any child about their behavior and the kids would listen and straighten up. I cannot count how many parents I know now who believe their kids do nothing wrong and if I or any other adult were to say something to their kids, they would threaten you somehow because their kids would never do anything wrong. I know this because my husband taught high school and he could take no action with the students except send them to the principals office where the parents would pick them up and complain about the teacher being wrong. He taught welding and an accident could have caused harm to him or students. I truly feel the challenge is with todays parents. They both work, are usually tired when they get home, and do not want to deal with any children problems. I felt this way at times and I was a stay at home mom. Not placing blame on any one person or child, just my opinion there is no incentive for kids to step up to the plate and take responsibilty for their actions.

I couldn't agree more with your statements!

  7. Just my two cents on valley church. After 25 yrs. on and off the beach itself has not changed, except for the aminities as explained above which are excellent in my book. But, the never changing beach line which is a two foot drop off onto more stable bottom is the Getya if you have ANY mobility issues. Going down, or sinking down a piece of cake. Climbing back up hill through sinking shifting sand is only for the very mobile. Very deceiving also, as the beautiful water is very inviting and you just know you gotta get in it. Over winter was there and knew better, but only by crawling hands and knees was I back to my lounger. It's a great spot, but if you are a diehard water baby better have two strong young guys to lead you out. Going back in September. Really think hard on this choice. But enjoy. Antigua is a beautiful island!

Thank you! Valley Church is now marked off my list... :D

  8. We are flying in on Dec 29. Our cruise leaves Dec 30th. RC Freedom of the Seas. Orginally we were going to fly in a few days early but those plans fell through so I am back at the drawing board of finding an inexpensive room for the one night before we board. I have never been to San Juan. Should we stay close to the airport or close to the port. I have no clue where the port is or how far from the airport it is. Any help would be appreciated.

After the cruise we are staying for 3 days so that we can tour San Juan. Would you recommend staying in Old San Juan? Would we need to rent a car or is transportation easy to find. Thanks!!!

We have reservations at the Sheraton in Old San Juan after our cruise as it appears everything is within walking distance. Staying at Embassy Suites (close to airport) night prior to our cruise. Royal Caribbean docks at the Pan Am pier in Old San Juan. I used booking dot com to find our places to stay.

  9. There are trolley’s now around town , that connect to most all hotels motels and tourist destinations. And better hotels motels have buses vans to take you wherever you want to go around town .

Never saw a trolley one during our visit. And yes, the Courtyard had a van to take you places, however they charged for the service.

  10. When we cruised out of Galveston, we used Galveston Limo both from and back to Houston (we flew in a day prior). Very inexpensive and easy to use! We stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott which is about as far from the pier as you can get (I think). There wasn't a lot down in that area, but it was all we could find/afford.
