  1. Hi Everyone,

We are first time cruisers leaving on our first cruise next week on a Celebrity cruise in Europe. When booking, we were given the dining time of 6:15 (waitlist). What does this mean?

Are we expected to be at dinner at 6:15 every night? Is this only applicable to the main dining room? Will we be sharing a table with others at the same dining time?

    Any advice would be helpful.

    Thanks!

  2. Don't leave it at that. Like others have said go to the MDR when you board and the maitre d will be there to handle dining requests. Let them know your issues and they will take care of you. Of course let your servers know the first night and it is always good to request the same servers every night.

In the end it is your responsibility. If you question something stop and verify. They have always been willing to double check with the chef on how something is prepared.

In the buffet you have to be extra careful due to cross contamination but the maitre d on duty there will always be willing to help point out things which would be ok or if contamination is an issue to get you a fresh one from the kitchen.

As others have said they do a good job trying to accommodate, you just need to constantly communicate.

Thank you for your advice it is greatly appreciated. We will definitely talk to the maître d in the MDR as soon as we board and will be sure to ask for the same servers every night.

  3. Just click the button in the email by the one(s) you want to bid on. It gives you a sliding scale to choose your bid & just hit submit.

You are bidding to pay EXTRA over what you originally paid.

Yes, you will keep your extras.

    Great thank you.

  4. Hi everyone hoping you can help. I’m new to cruising and my first cruise is book on Celebrity constellation with an August sailing. We recently got the email to move up and would like to bid (hey why not?). How does it work? Is it that my bid is the per person price I originally paid for my current assigned cabin plus my bid to move up or is it the price instead of the original price?

What about if I paid for extras such as prepaid tips what happens to those extras?

  6. Hi Guys,

We are going on our first cruise this coming August (so excited!) and have been reading about what's allowed and what's not allowed on a cruise. Most people advise the find out specifically about their ship so...that's why I'm posting on this forum (I apologise if I'm in the wrong place).

I've been reading about bringing a power strip (to charge our many devices) but I'm not sure if that is allowed on the Celebrity Constellation - anyone have any experience with this?

Any other suggestions for must brings and absolutely not alloweds?

  7. We have 1 day in each port on our August cruise (first time in each port). We have 2 children (10 and 7). We are thinking of exploring on our own. Would like to get a feel for the place and maybe enjoy some local cuisine?

    1. What are your must dos in each port?

    2. Are there any places you recommend we visit or stop for a snack/lunch?

    3. How difficult is it to get to the city from the port? Can we walk it? Should we take a taxi? Public transit?

  8. Hello, we are a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children - 10 and 7) travelling on the Celebrity Constellation Mediterranean cruise in August. We are first time cruisers and I’m concerned that there may not be enough sleeping space in our cabin. We have a balcony room and the description in our booking states that it can accommodate “up to 4 people” but when I look at photos of the room, I am only seeing 1 bed. Am I missing something or is there something else that can be turned into a bed? Should I be contacting Celebrity?

Any help you can share would be appreciated.

  9. Hi guys,

    I'm new to cruise critic.

I'm a first time cruiser (wannabe at this point).

    We are a family of 4 (children's ages 10 and 7).

I was thinking Disney cruise but my pocketbook thinks otherwise ;p. I was also thinking Mediterranean but we are also open to the Caribbean.

Any recommendations - destination, duration, cruise line, best time of year?

    Thanks very much!
