I am looking for suggestions on where to eat lunch near port in Ketchikan and in Juneau. We will be just getting back from excursions and will want to grab a bite to eat quickly. We are not picky eaters, but not looking for highend restaurants since that would be lost on our young son. Thanks!

We will be in a suite this summer for the first time. What is in the minibar setup?

We have a private tour booked with Beyond Skagway in July where they will drive us up and then we will take the train back. They have booked the train for us, as well as, a stop at a Dog Mushing Camp, so maybe it does make them seem like a booking company when you look at their website.
AFJB - glad to hear you guys had a great tour! We can't wait for ours!

Sorry if any of this is confusing. My hope is to buy wine in Vancouver to carry onto my cruise ship leaving Vancouver headed to Whittier Alaska. I know the cruise line rules on wine but wasn't sure how Canadian customes worked as far as me buying in Canada and taking onto a US bound cruise. Would there be a tax? No more than 4 to 6 bottles of wine.

Thank you!

Has anyone booked any Alaska Excursions through ShoreTrips.com? Just looking for feedback since I am looking at a few tours that they offer. One in particular is the COMBO...WHALES AND HELICOPTER DOG SLED TOUR out of Juneau. Hate to put all my eggs in one basket if they aren't a good Tour company. Thanks for any feedback.

We will be traveling to Alaska mid July and really want to do the Helicopter and Dog Sled Tour, but understand it gets cancelled often due to weather. We will be traveling to Juneau first and then Skagway. So we will book in Juneau first in case it gets cancelled so we can rebook in Skagway for the next day. So here are my questions....
Is there a better time of day to book to avoid weather cancellations? Is morning or afternoon tours better?
Do tours out of Juneau get cancelled more often than Skagway?
Any suggestions or feedback on this Tour is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

We will be buying in Vancouver and carrying it through customs. Just wasn't sure if the Duty fees would cancel out any saving by bringing on board. Thanks for all the feed back.

Yes, each cruise line has different policies. But I am thinking the customs is the same for all. Sounds like the US doesn't charge a tax by bringing wine in for the cruise - correct? Thanks for all your help.

Thanks!!

We are taking an Alaskan Cruise leaving out of Vancouver and I understand we can bring wine on board (subject to corkage fee of course). How does customs in Vancouver work when trying to take wine bought in Canada onto the cruise ship leave for the US? Is there a Duty Fee as well? Just trying to figure out if it is worth the effort of carrying wine on board when leaving out of Vancouver. Thanks!

What time does the gym open on most ships? Specifically the Alaskan cruises? We are booked on a Princess Alaska cruise summer of 2019 but just learned that their gyms don't open till 7:00am. That may be a deal breaker for my husband.

I was just reading another thread and someone meantioned that the gym didn't open until 7:00am on their ship - The Golden. Is that the same for all ships? That may be a big deal breaker with my hubby that goes to the gym every morning at 5:30am.

If you are going to Alaska, you can't do laundry while in Alaskan waters so plan according (sadly, I do laundry a lot on vacation, that's why I cruise on Princess and Carnival!)
Happy Cruising!
What!?! You can't do laundry while cruising in Alaska? Can you at least send it out to be done? Was hoping to not take two weeks of clothes with us?

We are open to renting a car.

We will dock Saturday morning and then fly out Monday evening around 7:00pm from Anchorage. So I am trying to figure out how best to fill the limited amount of time we have. Too hard to really make it to Denali and truly enjoy it, so any thing close to Anchorage we should see or do? It will be my 9 year old son, husband and I. We are active and love wild life. Hope that helps. Thanks!

Any suggestions on what to do post cruise if you only have 48 hours before you must fly home? We will be doing a Northbound Cruise ending in Whittier. I wish we had more time to explore Alaska but we can't so any suggestions on what we should do would be great! Thanks.

Please disregard this post - duplicate post. Internet acting up and it posted before it was complete.
Beyond Skagway
in Alaska
Posted
We just got back from our Alaskan Adventure and happy to report that Beyond Skagway Tours lives up to all the great reviews they have received. We had debated renting a car and driving all the way up to Emeral Lake and back, but so glad we changed our minds. If one of us had been driving, they would have never enjoyed the view. So we took the guided to Emeral Lake and then they brought us back down to return on the train. Then meet us at the station to get us back to our ship.
Our guide, Emily, was also a fountain of knowledge about the area and history. It was like taking a drive with an old friend and not a boring tour guide that memorized a script! I would highly recommend this company.
