  1. Lynn -

Thanks for your reply. My sister and I have decided to use credit cards since one has to pay a conversion fee one way or the other.

I just sent you an email with some additional questions on this cruise through the link you provided but it was returned. It may have gone into your junk box. My email is the same as my name all lower case, no spaces at hotmail.com

Please share with us, if you recall - how many formal nights did you have and when were they? Weather-wise, we are planning on layering. We figure the weather will vary anywhere from a high in the low 60's during the day depending on the port to lows in the high 30's at night. Was that your experience when you cruised the Arctic Circle?

    I appreciate your input.

  2. We are sailing on the Serenade of the Seas this June, the Norway/Arctic Circle Cruise.

Does anyone know if Guest Services onboard is able to exchange U.S. Dollars for Norwegian Krone? We plan on getting some Norwegian Krone (NOK) before we leave but wonder if we have an excess left over, or need more, if Guest Services will be able to exchange the excess NOK for U.S. Dollars - and likewise, if we need more - can they exchange U.S. Dollars for NOK?

  4. That's exactly what I did. Went to book the explorations "Vacation Package" and the total cost was $10,202 plus tax for a C3 category. When I coninued in the online booking deck it deducted $850 per person for an "air credit" so that's when I had the TA call Celebrity. Celebrity the added the $850 per person back on and additional charges that totaled more than $13,000 which is way more than the website advertised price of $10,202 plus tax. The $10,292 was the explorations "package" price. So in reality the website advertised price is less than Celebrity's verbal. It's like a bait and switch.

  5. I wanted to book one of the Celebrity Explorations packages - the Northern Lights Exploration. The website clearly states what's included in the "Package" - airfare from JFK to Rejkavic, airfare from Rejkavic to London, airfare from London to JFK - all transfers, taxes, fees - three nights at a luxury hotel, some shore excursions and some meals. The cost of the Exploration for 9/14/17 is almost $3,000 more than the cruise alone. The rate posted online for a category C3 is $10,202 plus tax. When you go to book this the website auto deducts $850 per person as an "air credit" - when my TA called and said she did not apply the air credit or ask for it they said the cost of the exploration would be about $13,000 for the C3. How is it that the price us different in the website from what Celebrity advertises? Is that deceptive advertising? It's like a darn shell game.

  6. JOHNMIK1 - thanks for your reply. We are on the Serenade of the Seas sailing June 5th this year. We have the Crown Plaza Tower Copenhagen booked through the cruise line but really favor Marriott. While it may be a walk to Tivoli, I was of the understanding it was close to the shopping district and Christanborg, Parliament. The Crown is nowhere near the downtown area so basically you need to hop a train to get anywhere.

Yes, we are in Palos right by Shepard HS. You are familiar with the area so you know we are close to Cal Sag. What is the name of your business? Where was your business located before in Palos?

    Small world.

  7. How about their shore excursion section? It's laughable. We have a cruise planned for the first week in June and for months the shore excursions are all messed up. In one port all the excursions are scheduled for 9:00 AM. Imagine 2,000 people getting off the ship at the same time! You can't select a time. You can select the number of people but the language and time auto populate. Even calls to the shore excursion desk fall on deaf ears with replies that they will escalate the issue to a supervisor. Hello - the shore excursion website has been messed up since August with no resolution - things are still not working correctly. I'm afraid to purchase airline tickets for fear I'll end up on a cruise with nothing to do.

Can you imagine hundreds of people booking the same shore excursion for 8:08 AM (yes-8:08AM, that's one of the times posted) only to find out they will depart at 11:00 AM or the shore excursion desk printing those tickets for 8:08 AM only to see hundreds of people show up?

I don't know who Royal outsourced their shore excursion desk to but whoever it is they don't know what they're doing.

  8. We need some advice on the taxi availability at the Port of Honolulu Pier 2. Are taxis readily available or difficult to find? We need to obtain transportation from Pier 2 to the Arizona Memorial Visitor Center and wonder how difficult it is to grab a taxi. I know there is a public bus but I have no idea how far the bus stops from the pier.

  9. Cruise Junky -

I'm double checking with you on that muster time. You mentioned it was at 4:30 PM the second day in Honolulu. We will be in Honolulu on 4/20 and 4/21.

On 4/21 we are not scheduled to depart until 11:59 PM. If muster is at 4:30, we will need to be onboard ship early? Do you recall the time you departed Honolulu on that second day?

    Thanks.

  10. Cruise Junky - you are simply the best. If you don't mind, believe it or not, I thought of two more questions.

    Do you remember -

    1. The time you had to be onboard for the overnight in Honolulu, and

    2. The time of the last tender returning to the ship on the overnight in Maui.

I know everyone appreciates your help. Thank you so much.

    Elaine
