Quite frankly I sail both. And it really depends on the kind of vacation I'm planning.
Sometimes I feel like doing a tux (X). Sometimes I feel like just doing a suit (rccl) Sometimes I want to act silly and do the quest. Sometimes I just want to relax
Being Diamond and elite plus. I have had my share of good and bad food. Sometimes I send it back. Other times I'm just enjoying myself with the company at my table that it's not a big deal
Quite frankly what I have begun to hate are walkie talkies and cell phones. They interfere with both my and others vacations. People have become selfish and rude
Getting back to the question. There are always ups and downs. On any cruise and with feeding. 3000 people on board you can't really expect a five star meal all the time.

Did the last zenith cruise. It was one of the best times I ever had. Later on a med cruise we ran into the old zenith. Sold to pullmantor Brought back lots of memories.

So in the event a cruise is cancelled or there is a problem and Future Cruise Certificates are given, lets say the pods fail on the Millie and your stuck at sea and X gives everyone 300.00 in FCC...I book a new cruise and apply this amount...then my investor credit would be nixed ?

Thanks for your observations:) .
We have yet to sail Millie and have our 3 night cruise in September where the inside rooms are going for $799.00 PP. and we have been scratching our heads wondering why?
I think what you and I and everyone else is seeing is the demise of X as X used to be and the beginning of X as RCCL.
Whith the 6 new Solstace class ships coming out ( which we have NO desire to sail on such a large ship with a grass deck? glass blowing? and a water show next to the pool? As for that monster wine rack in the midst of the diningroom, it gives me the feeling of a Bad B movie when it comes tumbling down on the passengers?) they are going to have to eliminate a number of the older ships which could be quite nice if they were kept up. Unfortunately with cash flow, like any other business...they make cuts in their older products as they phase them out, and use the money to fund the new product.
While what I'm saying is speculation on my part, I do think many of us X cruisers are in denial.
We recently sailed our favorite ship that we have sailed Many, many cruises on...the Century...and found it was not X as X used to be. Granted it could have been an off sailing, the wrong time of year or what ever, but Celebrity USED to be consistant with its service, maintainance ( except the pods ), and service fleet wide regardless. To us this past Century cruise was reminiscant of a Carnival booze cruise.....The service, the food ( except Muranos ), and the atmosphere was severely lacking.
WE already have speculation that Galaxy is leaving now that our prior favorite Zenith is gone. I assume with 6 new ships on the way that six will leave the fleet, or at least 4. With the pod problems and the unsuccessful law suits so far regarding them I have to wonder if the M class will dissapear also in lieu of this new mega mass market trash that they are promoting ...ie. Solstace, Equinox, and the other four to be built.

Would you pay a surcharge for a formal only dining room area?

I say we go back to Smart Casual, Semi-Formal, and Formal Like it used to be.
I have never had a cruise ruined by people not adhearing to the RULES of the contract they signed when they purchased thier vacation.. However, I follow the rules out of respect and I expect others to do so as well.
Regardless of the 'new' dress code. I will be bringing both my dinner jacket and tux with me. Its how I started cruising, its the reason I chose Celebrity all those years ago over other lines.
If someone shows up in a pair of jeans at my table I dont have a problem with them being there however I will think of them differently then those in a suit or tux
