  1. I am currently booked on a 7 day out of San Pedro on 12/21. I now  have the opportunity to take the same ship out of LA on 12/14. I cannot get the same room on both cruises. Would I have to treat this as two separate cruises (i.e. pack my bags, go thru customs, wait for boarding etc.) or would they allow me to transfer my belongings from one room to another? I am a Platinum if that helps at all.

The reason I ask is that I just had back surgery and will be in recuperation phase and want to make the trip as stressless as possible.

Any information would be helpful and thanks. I am grateful to be taking just the one cruise but since the opportunity exists....

  2. I enjoy sailing out of San Pedro since I only live approximately one hour away driving time. With the introduction of the Royal to Southern California, does anyone know what this has done to the parking situation? If multiple cruises are leaving on the same day with relatively short cruises (7 days or less), I would imagine the parking lot can get extremely full and couple this with the USS Iowa parking that on some days there may be no place to park at all.

  3. Last cruise I took on the Ruby my barrel chair was gone! (Balcony). I immediately told my steward and lo and behold 2 hours later someone appeared with a barrel chair. I saw them later stacked floor to ceiling in a supply room.

I complained to Princess when I got home but we will see how far that goes. Balcony rooms really do need that extra chair. Otherwise, the one desk chair is all there is and if someone else visits your room they have to sit on the bed.

  4. We always get an obstructed view cabin on TA's. There's not much to see anyway and you can't beat the value. The promenade deck is close by as well.

Some are more obstructed then others. Check out this website for the views. On our next TA we're getting 8020 on the way out and 8019 on the way in. It's fine by us.

Not all cabins are there, just look for the corresponding cabin on the other side, it will be the same view.

    This website was very helpful.

  5. We are considering a transatlantic cruise on the QM2 which we have never done before. Balconies are rather scarce and not seeing much available except for High Deck 8 - obstructed balcony.

Can someone give me some insight into how much of an obstruction there is? Would I be looking directly at the side of a lifeboat or is there still a decent ocean view?

Have sailed on Princess many, many times but am not familiar with the QM2 and am not getting the information I am looking for on the internet.

Thank you from Laguna Beach, CA.

  6. I have made many cruises on Princess but only on the Ruby, Crown and Sapphire.

The Royal is finally coming to Los Angeles next year and we would love to try her out. The snag may be the pools. We love the Terrace Pool on Deck 14 in the back. It is removed from most other ship activities and is adult only. I have checked the deck plan for the Royal and don't really see anything comparable. We are considering a 7 - day to Mexico and a pool will be required for us. The only pool I am really seeing is the one large pool midship. I am aware of an adult only pool forward but do not know if this requires an additional charge like the Lotus Spa.

Any input on this who from those who love pool activities (adults only) would be greatly appreciated.

Note: Because of my work schedule we would need to take the cruise during Spring break in LA. And we all know how many kids that will draw out!

  7. I just got off of the Ruby today as well. The embarkation was absolutely flawless. I have never seen an embarkation go so smoothly.

was surprised to see that life vests are no longer needed for the muster drill.

WE all nearly had to "muster" second night out when a woman went missing from Aloha deck. It took announcements ship wide every 15 minutes starting at @230AM before she was found. If she was not found I was told everyone was going to have to go to their muster stations so the entire ship could be searched!

  8. I am hoping they offer it on my next cruise. I took a 5 day cruise last year. The tour was posted in the Patter. I immediately went to Guest Relations to sign up and was told they decided not to offer the tour. We'll see what happens. Thanks for all of the great information.

  9. Am planning my 8th Princess Cruise (Ruby) next month and yet I never see the Ultimate Ship Tour featured in my cruise personalizer. Does anyone know if that is something that can be pre-purchased or does one have to wait until getting on the ship to see if it is offered during a sea day?
