  1. It’s been a few years since we have stayed in a hotel in Fort Lauderdale and cruised out of Miami. We used a car service that picked us up at the FLL airport and transferred us to our FLL hotel, then picked us up a couple of days later and drop us at the Miami port. There are 6 in the group that are traveling together. What car service is recommended? For the life of me I can’t remember who we used. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  2. We are booked on deck 6 balcony cabin in the middle of the ship and even though you are located in a different area but on deck six do you feel there is any more noise coming from deck 5 and the outer side venues? Our last few cruises we have been in much higher decks so only other cabins have been below us. Just wondering

Thank you for this review! I look forward to reading it every day, it's making me very excited for my trip on the Horizon next March 🙂

I agree! It’s awsome that you have taken the time to do this on board review, thank you.

We have sailed Royal two times.  Once on one of the smaller ships and our honeymoon on Freedom of the Seas.  Royal is not our thing.  I feel like if we have paid $2,000 to $3,000 for a cruise then I should not have to pay $12 for a burger at johnny rockets.  That’s just crazy talk to me.  Not to mention Royal isn’t cheap to start with.  We don’t like being nickel and dimed the entire vacation.  That is what cruising is about for us.  If we want food then go get something and as much as you want.  We have not done one of the large Oasis class ships but they do look awesome.  I just cant imagine not having all the free places for lunch... Guys burgers, Blue Iguana, Pasta Bar, Wok, Guys BBQ....pizza, don’t even get me started on how terrible Sorrentos is compared to Carnivals pizza offering.  To us its like comparing a $5 hot and ready to a slice on the streets of NYC.  (It’s not as good as a slice but using that for the comparison) I mean come on, that’s awesome!

I think your kids will really like all the activities.  The two things I can think of they would miss if they use them are the Flow Rider and the rock climbing wall.  But the sky track is awesome.  The sports area is very fun as well with a ton of games.  One nice thing is the area with ping pong and foosball is in the AC, that was nice today playing the soccer billiards.  The water slides and water park area is very large, but they do not have 32 pools or whatever is on the Oasis class, but at the right times the pools are not crazy busy.

I really think the food offerings and your final bill will change your mind about Carnival in the future!  Keep and open mind!  Would love to hear your report after your cruise.

Funny story not RC related.  I have a family member going on Norwegian this summer...I asked what did they get as their “free at sea” option?  He said, “We did not do the free at sea, it made the cruise way more expensive”.   Wait, I thought free means free? No thanks, we will stick with our red and blue whale tale for now!

We have sailed NCL and while the offerings are not exactly free we found that the beverage package and the dining package was well worth the taxes and gratuities that we paid.

If you don't mind me asking, which March sailing will you be on? We're going March 7th.

I was the one who mentioned the hotels. We've stayed at the same one in Ft. Lauderdale twice. To book it next March, it's $115 more than what we paid last year. I looked at the events Gettys84 said that might be going on at that time, but they aren't till the end of March and early April. But something must be happening because that's not your average price hike.

We are on this same sailing! I thought perhaps it was because of Easter but it is in April next year. I’m an over planner so I like to have our hotel rooms booked as soon as our cruise is booked. I guess I will just have to keep checking the various hotel sites for something reasonable.

  6. Thank you for taking the time to post this awesome review! We are sailing on the Horizon next March and reading and looking at your videos and pictures just makes me more excited for this sailing. And by the way, I have to agree on the prices of hotels in Miami for next March, more expensive and have found that hotels are already booked up.

  7. Even though we have cruised before this will be the first time cruising with NCL. I do have a few questions, we are cruising on the Escape out of Miami and I read that the terminal for NCL has an A and B, how is it determined which terminal we go to? Also we are in a balcony cabin and I thought I read that there are small coffee pots in the cabins, is this for all the cabins? Also with room service is it a 7.95 service charge on anything that is ordered? So even if I wanted a pot of tea delivered to our cabin it would cost 7.95? And finally a question on debarking, we have never done self assist so is there a certain spot where everyone waits in line? Thank you any help would be greatly appreciated.

  8. We also used Executive VIP Limo on our last cruise a couple of weeks ago and they were fantastic. We were promptly picked up from our hotel, had the 30 minute stop to Walmart and off to the port we went. Our return trip was just as awesome. If we ever cruise out of Port Canaveral and are staying in Orlando we will definetly use this service again.

  9. I am looking for rommendations on a reliable towncar service to take a party of 6 from a hotel in the Fort Lauderdale area to the POM. We have booked our cruise for next March going out of POM but have to fly I to FLL and stay in that area two days before our cruise. Do not want to use a shuttle service. so I am looking for advice. Thank you

  10. Yes I am confused!:D Our cabin is 7356, which looks to be further away from the elevators. As far as being bothered by the elevators that has never been a problem, we always have had cabins close to them. I was more worried about the noise coming from any bar or club. Thanks for the help.

  11. Just booked the Liberty and I chose cabin 7736. Interested if anyone has stayed in that general area and could tell me if it is a good choice in regards to noise. Serveral different posts about the Liberty have mentioned the noise but over all looks like a good choice for our cruise.

  12. First, you really should put renting a car back on the table. If you can't drive (no license) that is another story, but it just opens up so many more doors for you. From cheaper hotels to more attractions. Heck with 2 nights pre cruise you could throw Orlando on the table with a car. You won't have to pay for the shuttle or taxi. Just car/gas and parking fee at KSC. Driving in Florida in general is much easier than other big cities/states because there are highways all over.

Taxi to KSC is going to run you roughly $100 R/T.

I think you will have plenty to do so I wouldn't worry about the Cocoa Beach/Canaveral decision on where to stay (assuming you do not rent a car). KSC will take up an entire day, so breakfast, KSC (lunch) and dinner . . . that day is done with a hotel pool (assuming this will be the night before the cruise). So you really just need to do something the day you fly in.

From my research and everyone's helpful advice we will be renting a car when we get to Port Canaveral. It is so much cheaper plus having the freedom to come and go is a huge plus.

  13. So I think we are ready to go ahead and book the Liberty for our next cruise and I need some cabin advice. We prefer a balcony cabin, port side and in the middle of the ship. I see that on some of the reviews the upper deck has noise factors, because of the location of some of the bars and casino. So if we move up a deck to the Empress what would be a good choice of balcony cabin? The people in our cruising party are not late night people so we do have the tendency to retire to our cabins early. Thanks for any suggestions.
