For those of you entering the US, try the Mobile Passport app. We recently used it in EWR. There is a dedicated line that is much shorter( maybe 10 people opposed to over 100). Of course it doesn't help when you end up waiting forever for your luggage before going through Customs.

No we left much earlier, at 6:30. We left port at 6:30 pm, so we had to be back earlier.

Do you mean when we first arrived or at the Hilton? I think we boarded the tour bus in Berlin close to 9 and were dropped off well before 11. Sorry can't be more exact than that. There were several coaches and each left at a slightly different time. Can you arrange to text the rickshaw company when you are almost at the market? Our guide was most helpful because we had a lunch reservation and were worried we wouldn't make it.

We've just gotten off a Viking Homelands tour. We arrived at one station and returned from another. The rendezvous point was in front of the Hilton Hotel in Gendarmmarket (sp) Square. When you arrive, there is a 60-90 minute bus tour after which you are left in front of the Hilton for your free time. and picked up there afterwards. We enjoyed our trip to Berlin, but the return was a disaster. The train experienced problems, there was no air con, many windows didn't open, they ran out of water and ice, and all in all, most passengers arrived wishing they hadn't gone. We enjoyed our time in Berlin, but the long, uncomfortable return made us second guess our decision to go.

We leave Friday for the same tour. I've packed and repacked since the weather seems to be quite warm now. Even Bergen is in the 70*s, but I have layers in case it changes! I'm hoping it won't be too hot in St. Petersburg. With no air con, I've read the museums can be uncomfortable when they are packed with tourists.

We sail in 15 days and also have a GTY. I had to speak to Viking about another matter and asked when we might find out. The person was very noncommittal and insisted that they didn't want to say one cabin and then actually assign another. I believe deals are still being made; the Explorer suite is still empty, so I'm hoping no one else decides to upgrade so we can have it!

Cindy,
I think the boards must be monitored somewhat because I've seen responses from Viking, but usually about critical issues.

I agree, Peregrina. I'm constantly learning new things from this board. This is our first Viking voyage, so there's a lot to learn and only 22 more days to do it!

I was about to do that. Originally, I printed out a copy and and have been adding our extras by hand, but I wanted a "pretty" copy.

Is there any way to add notes to the existing Viking daily schedule? I'd like to add our private excursions and notes about places we might want to see. I guess I can create a new schedule, but was hoping someone knew a trick.

As one of those "gty's", in Viking speak, I hope people are getting their upgrades so I can find out our cabin number. When I booked, I didn't actually understand the principle; I just knew these were the dates we needed. Now, the suspense is killing me.

I know this is posted elsewhere, but I can't find it. On the train trip to Berlin, at which station does the train arrive and from which does it leave? Is there still a bus tour included in the included tour? I read that at one point there was an hour ride around the city after the train ride. Thanks for your help.

We're taking a Viking Homelands cruise late July/August 2018. I had a question about the pool temperatures. I've already seen that the weather can be quite chilly in Northern Europe at the time. Are the pools heated? Does anyone know approximately what temperature they are? I saw in a video review the the spa pool is only around 70 degrees. That made me wonder about the outdoor pools. Thanks for your help. I've enjoyed reading all the reviews and have learned so much about what to expect.

Agree with others about the train to Berlin. We did the included tour and then had lunch at the top of the Reichstag. It was something my husband really wanted to do and we enjoyed it immensely.
