Is it really a reduction if you're just getting it in OBC? You're still paying the same amount of money, no?

If its before final payment they reprice the cruise and you pay less. After final payment the difference is in OBC.

I notice with Carnival all MAJOR price drops, Im talking 100's of $$, are posted AFTER final payment date. Sometimes the very next day. Not a coincidence I'm sure.

Usully kids are covered by a smaller price and fees. I wouldnt say that its much different from an adult ones and it will depend on the age of the kid. If I am not mistaken, kids 3 yo and younger are free of charge. I might be mistaken. In any case, I wouldnt take such young kids on board. You wouldnt enjoy the time, you will be dealing with the kids all the time and worry about them. Cruising is about relaxing, not worrying

    All this is incorrect  LOL

Kids arent cheaper they are full fare

3yr olds are not free, kids of all ages are full fare

You most certainly CAN have a fun and relaxing vacation with your kids, unless you have bad kids or don't like being around and sharing experiences with your kids in general. The kids clubs are there for a reason. The parents get a break and can have adult time, the kids love them and they are included in your fare

  3. Don't see cruising resuming anytime soon, definately not this summer, but, but, no pools, no parties, no crowds of people? I wouldn't even want to cruise. That's not my idea of fun and the rich can have it LOL. It would be a hoot to see Carnival and RC rebrand and attempt sell themselves as a Viking or Azamara. My broke self will instead be at the most "luxurious" all inclusive kid friendly resorts all over the world I can find LOL 🤣

Will they implement later sail away (7 pm) to allow for longer/better cleaning between sailings. Turning the ship over in about 3 hours for Buffet and 4 hours for cabins is pushing it. I know they've been doing it for years.

    Times have/will change certain procedures.

That would also allow for spacing pax out to board.

I dont see how they possibly turn over so fast now! It amazes me everytime I tearfully walk the plank leaving a cruise, gazing jealously at the people already lined up to board and steal the fun I just had, how they turn it over so fast! I was one of the last off of my cruise in January and it was almost 10am. Even having the rooms ready by 1pm just amazes me. I never see the amount of workers on board that it would take to turn it over that quickly. It's like they magically appear on disembarkation/embarkation day then scurry away and hide for the rest of the cruise.

i remember way back in the day when i signed up for both public school and college, i had to show them a vaccine report or whatever it was called at the time that show i had the MMR shot and a few other shots. its crazy to see that it was required back then and now it is not

Yep me too. Now there's all these opt out options for religious, medical or even just personal reasons and its left up to each state to set their exemption laws, so unless the state requires it you can opt out. I live in CA and they just changed it a couple years ago to be absolutely required with medical reasons being the only exemption.

i wont be surprised if we have to bring some kind of vaccine paper/medical history with us and show it at the terminal during check in.

Forced vaccines in order to cruise? They cant even force kids to be vaccinated in order to go to school LOL. I know cruising is completely voluntary but I wonder what the domino effect would be.

That would be interesting and probably the start of some new standards across the board.

Been booked since last August for June 27th on the Panorama. Fingers crossed we can sail. If not will have to wait until Feb 2021..

I’ve been booked on the same cruise since November 2018. I’ll be shocked if it happens.  If it does sail it’ll be the first cruise back for carnival and I’m not going to be the guneia pig in that ship LOL I’ll cancel if they don’t.

I seriously doubt your governor is going to allow them to sail. San Francisco is closed for a linger time. I’m betting he’ll close LongBeach and San Diego as well.

So my cruise is within the cancelled dates—Liberty June 15th. But I haven’t received an email and I haven’t been able to log into my cruise manager account page for at least a week. I get a “working on it” message.  Do you have to rebook right away or can I wait awhile and see what happens?

Oh yeah I’m positive it’ll be canceled. That’s why it’s frustrating they won’t just cancel already. I want to get in line for my refund. The longer they take to cancel the longer it’s gonna take to get my money back.

  9. It's THROUGH June 26th not 27th. Big difference. I'm scheduled on Panorama on 6/27 and have been waiting for them to cancel. No way Im sailing that soon even if carnival does. I live in L.A., face masks are mandatory to enter businesses, schools are out for the rest of the year, stay at home order just got extended. This is no where near over. I want ALL my money back not tons of OBC on top of the tons of OBC I already have from price drops. I checked the website when I didnt have an email and so far its still on, can't believe I missed it by 1 day. Uuuuuggghhh just cancel alreadyy!

  10. I'm booked on Panorama for June 27th. Final payment was 3/30 and I have until May 30ish to cancel, so I'm in your same boat.

Your final payment date remains the same 4/14. You have until 5/27 to cancel and get FCC. Normally you would have a penalty to cancel after final payment and lose the penalty amount all together (30 days out is 50% then 75 then 100 as time goes on). Under the new cancellation guidelines, your cancellation fee basically is converted to a FCC so instead of you just losing the money all together, you have a FCC credit for the full amount you've paid.

If your friend cancels prior to final payment date, OR does NOT PAY the final amount owed by the final payment date 4/14, they will incur the normal cancellation fees which is usually any non refundable deposit amount.

FCC, OBC all that is being offered right now only applies to paid in full cruises. The normal rules still apply prior to final payment.

Oh yeah and find another travel agent 🙂

  11. I've done OV, balcony and a suite ONCE on an upgrade but Im not a once you go balcony you can't go back person, my budget at the time decides. I usually do OV. I just did my first interior ever in January on a last minute cruise for my daughters birthday. I was pleasantly surprised and I liked it just fine. It was only myself and my 10yr old. I would do it again. That said:

I DID miss having a window and would only do it again if it was, as it was in this case, 1) hundreds of dollars cheaper and was 2) a maximum of 5 days 3) and no more than 2 people. Also I would ONLY do it on Carnival as they have large interior staterooms and large rooms comparatively anyway. Our room was basically the same size as an OV just without the window.

  12. I'm so annoyed and need to vent. I booked 11/2018 on Panorama for June 2020 and have been checking daily since this covid fiasco for price adjustments. Put in online for 4, Gotten 2 approved, one for $30 and then another that was approved, not for the price I put in, but for more than what I was already paying and put me UP $10, WHAT! Whatever, I'm sure this cruise is going to be cancelled anyway so I wasnt pressed about it.

Since I paid a premium for this cruise, as it was a brand new ship and the inaugural hadn't even sailed yet, I purposely waited with baited breath until final payment day on 3/30 to make final payment hoping to get as much $$ back as possible on price adjustments (which didnt happen) and today Carnival did EXACTLY what I knew they were going to do BOOM! 2 days after final payment date, HUNDREDS $$$ cheaper. I did another adjustment today and now I have $360 OBC that I would have RATHER had in my pocket as a price adjustment. I expect it to keep going down and keep getting adjustments until they cancel sometime in May (and they will, or I will). But I will take a full refund and rebook at half price rather than take the OBC when that happens since I dont know when I will want to cruise again given the circumstances and $1000 OBC is not as appealing to me as $1000 in my pocket. Ok end rant bye

  13. I’m scheduled on Panorama June 27. Seeing how we are on lock down in California until at least May it seems 10000% unrealistic that she would sail a month later. Even if it did I wouldn’t be on it. No way to ensure a safe population that quickly and I’m of the mindset it’s going to get worse before it gets better. I’ve been going back and forth for days over whether to make final payment which is due today.

If I do pay it it’s because I want carnival to cancel and not me so I can get all my cash back or an OBC and rebooking window large enough to make it worth them holding onto it. However the possibility of them filing Bankruptcy in a year or so with my cash in hand OR them somehow sailing in June anyway makes me want to just cancel now and just be out $100.

    THe Land Part:

First stop was Cabo.  You have to get a tender ticket the day before on the 5th floor (near pixels if I remember correctly).  The tender boats are small and it takes a long time to get everyone off the ship, so if you have a non carnival excursion, pay attention to when those tickets go up.  I feel like it was a good hour after clearance before they got through groups 1-3.  We had three big ships in port, so that might have made the tender process extra slow.  We had 47 (which was the end of the "early" tenders"  I feel like we got off the ship at about 11:30.  Word to the wise, these are not big stable boats that its easy to move from the ship to the tender.  There is a pretty big gap between the ship and the tender and the tender was really bobbing around.  I don't think anyone other than a fully able bodied adult or at least a grade school aged kid could have transferred safely. I few people tendered with strollers but it was scary watching them carry a baby or toddler onto the tender.  The port has a good sized market right off the ship.  We really hated the in your face aggressive sales of excursions and trinkets in Nassau and I was worried about this port. There were a lot of sellers but they were actually very nice and it did not feel threatening like Nassau.  We just ate at a restaurant and shopped in the little bazar in the port area.  Maybe I was supposed to negotiate but I thought the prices were like slightly low American prices.  We wanted to go to Medano beach and it would have been easy to find a water taxi there but I wasn't positive on how we would get back and it just seemed a bit sketchy to me (single mom with a non adventurous kid).  We were happy enough with our experience and happy to get back on board and enjoy the sunshine.  Unlike previous cruises, a lot of people stayed on board at every port.  Many of these people had done this same cruise multiple times or land vacations to these places and were happy to stay on the ship.

Next Port Stop was Mazatlan.  This is the one with all the homeland security safety warnings.  So of course we decided to take a countryside ATV non ship tour.  My kid is obsessed with driving and I called and they would let his 14 year old butt drive his own ATV so we were in.  The guide met us at the port.  He was easy to find and we waited a bit for a group from the Joy to join us and then we boarded pick-up trucks with canopys and benches in the back and headed a good ways through town to the ATV shop.  We saw some areas of Mazatlan not meant to be seen by cruisers and it was obvious that it is not as safe as it looks from the pier.  Unlike other countries where I would describe areas as shockingly poor, these areas looked war-torn.  The streets were empty and we were in a moving vehicle, so I didn't feel particularly unsafe but I definitely wouldn't have wanted to be on foot in these areas.  The area around the shop was busy and touristy and seemed safe.  We each got our own ATV and took off with basically no instruction on busy city streets and highways for a good 4 miles!  I was not expecting that or I probably would not have let my 14 year old drive.  They let a 12 year old girl drive by herself also!  Despite this, it did not feel unsafe.  There was a tour guy at the front and back and then one crusings back and forth on the line next to us in a motor cycle.  We drove through dirt trails and forrests (the 12 year old ran into a tree) on some pretty rough terrain and then headed for a really deserted beach where we got to go fast.  One 15 year old flipped his ATV (or it flipped him) into the ocean and he landed under it.  That was pretty scary and it took about an hour to get going from there because the ATV had a flat and they wouldn't just leave it there.  Luckily there was a doctor in the group and the 15 year old was fine.  This was a really fun excursion for us.  Really great for a group with teens.  Probably not thrilling enough for thrill seeks or boring enough for 50+ folks without teens in the mix.  Looks like the tour was through mazatlan tours dot org.  It was definately a local tour operator and unregulated but we chose that so my 14 year old could drive.  We felt safe enough for my comfort level but my mom would have thrown a fit over the how unsafe it was (she still uses the non existant brake on her side of the car agressively when I drive).

More in a bit.  I am going to force myself to make 3 work calls.

This is absolutely hilarious. I feel like I’m reading a really good book one chapter at a time. Can’t wait for the next chapter lol
